DealDash’s Winter Snow Removal Tips

DealDash

Burrrr! If you’re in the Northeast you experienced some snow last week. Here are some snow removal tips from DealDash.

Winter is coming. For some parts of the country, it has already arrived. We want to offer you a few key tips that will make your snow removal a little easier this year. Read on for some helpful tips and information from DealDash.

Don’t “Put It Off” Til Later

More important than any other tip – do not let the snow build up before shoveling. I was once told that anyone who says that you should wait to shovel until the end of the storm has, clearly, never had to shovel 12 inches of snow. You’ll save yourself a lot of backache and annoyance if you go out every hour or so. This is especially true if you live somewhere that often gets 6+ inches at a time.

Always have the right equipment (From DealDash)

If you’ve ever tried to shovel snow with anything other than a true snow shovel, you’ll know what we mean. Get a quality pushing snow shovel. Ensure that you have snowmelt and salt at the ready. When considering salt, I prefer to purchase the pet-friendly option. It is made to be safe soft paws, but it’s also much easier on the sidewalk. If you have a dog that you have to walk outside in the snow they will appreciate your consideration for their little feet.

DealDash often has snow removal and winter equipment up for bid. Personally I have gotten a very large snow pushing-type shovel from DealDash that has made my snow removal a lot faster and also easier on my back. Click this link for shovels and handheld snow throwers. You can also find regular snow shovels, gloves, scarves, and even boots. No matter what you need for the winter, DealDash has you covered. Click here for the Home, Garden, and Tools category to browse the options available to you today.

Be Prepared

It’s not enough to have the right equipment. You need to be sure that equipment is ready to go. So don’t wait until the snow is here to check your snowblower. Make sure you have gas and oil. Test run the snowblower before the snow gets here. When you’re covered in snow, you’ll be happy that you did the troubleshooting with just leaves on the ground.

Thanks for Reading

Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article with snow removal tips. And remember, many hands make for light work. While you’re shoveling the snow, encourage the kids to come out and build a snowman. It may be one more thing to focus on, but a little help can go a long way. Let the kids have a snowball fight. Encourage building a snowman or even an igloo. By having them outside and playing, they’ll be moving a little bit of the snow out of your way and getting some fresh air and exercise at the same time.

DealDash Guide to Organizing Your Bookshelf

DealDash

Books can make a house look comfortable and welcoming. Here are some ideas from DealDash for organizing the books on your bookshelf.

Many people are starting to read their books online, but I don’t think that paperback and hardcover books will be going away anytime soon. I know a number of people who still love the feel of a book in their hands. They say there’s something special about turn the page rather than just swiping it. So, we’ve decided to take a few minutes to look at how you can keep those books organized. Read on for some organizational ideas from DealDash.

Cleaning and Dusting

First, you should start by cleaning everything out. It doesn’t take long for books (and spaces between them) to collect dust. Anytime I plan to re-organize, I take everything off and wipe my bookcases down. Once you’ve thoroughly cleaned you should consider how you want your books organized.

Get a Bookcase From DealDash

In the course of cleaning and dusting, you might find that your bookcase is old and/or has some damage. Since your books are already off of the shelf, it’s a great time to get a new bookshelf. DealDash has bookcases, shelves, and racks that your books would love to live on. Choose from wood, wire, and other materials. You can choose from traditional or modern styles. Just click here and you will find some beautiful bookcases from DealDash.

Organize Alphabetically

A number of people like to go alphabetically. Much like the library, having a perfect system makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. You could do this by the last name of the author or by the title. I prefer using titles as I don’t always remember who the author was when I’m looking for something.

Organize By Topic

Others look to organize by topic. They find that knowing what style they want to read is more important than finding a specific book. My favorite books are typically the same genre, so this doesn’t really work for me. If you have a large library, it can be a great way of encouraging yourself to pick up a book you haven’t seen in a few years.

Organize Visually

You may also decide to focus on aesthetics and not organize your books in any particular way. This option works really well if your bookcase is used for its visual as much as its practical uses. If you have a small library at home, this may be the way to go. I love to randomize the books so that the height varies from left to right. This adds a bit of texture to the bookcase.

Thanks for Reading

Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on bookshelf organization. The key to bookshelf organization is to find a way you like to organize your books and stick with it. Remember to put your book back in the proper place before you take out another one, and it will stay perfectly organized. Use these ideas and keep the amount of time spent organizing to a minimum.

Last Minute Gift Tips From DealDash

DealDash

There are only a couple of weekends left to shop before Christmas is here. If you still have gifts to buy you will want to read this article from DealDash about last-minute gifts.

Christmas is quickly approaching. While I love to get my Christmas shopping done on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, it rarely happens. When you don’t get all the discounts, what are the best ways to save so that you’re not spending an arm and a leg on last-minute gifts? Read on for some handy tips from DealDash.

‘Tis the Season for Craft Fairs

Everyone is going to be at the big box stores and that means you’ll be fighting through a crowd. Instead of fighting with the masses, maybe consider going to a local craft fair. These offer the option to find truly unique gifts. While sites like Etsy compare to the craft shows, the prices (especially adding in shipping) are usually much higher than at a craft fair.

Keep it in the Neighborhood

Looking to buy local is another great option. Whether you’re looking for jewelry, antiques, or just something unique a small “mom and pop” shop may be exactly what you’re looking for. These small shops frequently have gifts that you can’t find anywhere else and some of them may be able to customize what you’re looking for. I also like these shops for the chance to give back to my community.

Keep Your Money in Mind

I love using rewards to buy Christmas gifts; whether it’s something like a “cash cupon” to the store or cashback on your credit card. I love using store bonuses and credit card bonuses. Either way, you can save a ton on your Christmas gifts. Check into which stores offer cashback on your credit card or debit card and see if there are any great gifts there for your friends and family.

DealDash is Full of Gifts

Finally, if you’re just looking to get something quickly and don’t want to rush out to the store, DealDash is there for you. You can find just about anything you’re looking for, and you can get some great deals out there! To begin, simply click this link, and you will be taken to the New Items category, which is a great place to begin your gift search.

Thanks for Reading

In the end, you should make sure that your shopping doesn’t get in the way of your holiday spirit. It’s important to remember that the holidays aren’t about buying the best gifts but about the people who will receive them. Don’t let shopping get in the way of your Christmas spirit! DealDash Cooks: Next Level Christmas Cookies

DealDash

Classic Christmas cookies are delicious, but why not take them up a notch? DealDash has some great cookie ideas for you.

Christmas cookies have become a staple of the holidays, but everyone makes the same old Christmas cookies. Sure, we could tell you to try new cookie cutters and create different shapes, but we’d like to look at going a step further. Read on for some tasty unique cookie ideas, from DealDash.

Airbrush Your Sugar Cookies

If you really like your sugar cookies, consider ways to step up your game a bit. Rather than using sprinkles, consider diving into the world of icing or airbrushing. You can find edible airbrushing that will allow you to make your cookies a true piece of art. You can find the equipment at many craft stores and also cooking stores.

Cookie Sandwiches

Another great way to improve the classic is to make cookie sandwiches. Think of an Oreo for this idea. When you make your cookies, place a layer of cream in the middle and make a cookie sandwich.

Candy Bar Cookies

Candy Bar Cookies are the best. How can you go wrong when you combine a piece of candy with your favorite cookie? You can use any style of cookie and follow the normal instructions, then place chunks of your favorite candy on top. Some candies melt a bit but that adds to the gooey-ness of your snack. Using chocolate makes this one of my favorite options.

New Twists on Old Classics

  • If you’re looking for something really unique, try making vanilla meringue cookies. It seems like a pretty ordinary recipe, but you can use a little food coloring or food sprinkles to change the color and make it look a little more festive. While these cookies taste good, I love to make them with alternating green and red meringue to really pull in the Christmas spirit.
  • Everyone has heard of an Oatmeal cookie, but I like to make it a little different. In the same way that you can add a bit of extra flavor with raisins, I like to add cranberries or chocolate chips. People will see the oatmeal and find comfort in the fact that it’s a recipe they’re familiar with. But they’ll see the red from the cranberries and it will take them by surprise a bit.

DealDash Has Baking Supplies

Baking cookies (and whatever else!) is always a lot easier if you have nice fresh equipment. DealDash has the equipment that you need for cooking and baking. No matter if you want a fancy KitchenAid stand mixer or a regular mixer, DealDash has you covered. Just click here.  There are also auctions for knife sets, saucepans, cutting boards, and other cooking implements. You can see all of the choices in the Kitchen and Dining category right here.

You really can’t go wrong with any Christmas cookies that you make, but we like to suggest trying something new. Let us know what you think! Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on making cookies. Let us know what your favorite type of cookie is down below.

DealDash Small Christmas Gifts for Acquaintances

DealDash

Having a few small gifts on hand for acquaintances is a good idea. DealDash has some small gift suggestions for you.

During Christmas, there is no shortage of people to buy gifts for. Sometimes, you feel the need to buy gifts for an acquaintance that you don’t know all that well. Ideally, you’d like to learn a little bit about what their hobbies are so that you can customize their gift a bit, but sometimes you don’t have time. Below is a list of ideas that can work for anyone, from DealDash.

Planner or Wall Calendar

Firstly, everyone needs to be organized and, sometimes, using your phone just doesn’t cut it. Consider buying someone a planner or a wall calendar. This is a class gift that just about anyone can use. The calendar offers the ability to customize by buying a specific theme (dogs, sports, etc.) I’m often surprised by how many people still use a “paper method” to keep track of their schedules. I keep my planner in the kitchen so everyone in the family can see it and know what is planned for the week.

DealDash has Desk Supplies and Candles

Next, if this person is someone from your office, you can’t really go wrong with getting nice office supplies like a fancy pen and/or personalized note pads. DealDash has auctions for fancy pens. You can get them as a single, or you can also bid on sets of 5, 10, or even 20. Also, they even come in their own little boxes, ready for wrapping. Click here for fancy pens.
DealDash also has auctions for scented candles. The candle is a classic acquaintance gift. DealDash has different scents available. Just click here to check them out.

Water Bottle, Coffee Cup, Thermos

I’m also a big fan of buying drinking thermoses or cups. A tumbler is great for the coffee drinker. A thermos is great for anyone as it’ll keep your hot drinks hot or cold drinks cold. It also offers the flexibility of being something to use for drinks or soups and the like.

Trinkets and Gadgets

Finally, if you’re really stuck, I like to purchase gadgets or trinkets that aren’t unique to anyone, but allows people to fidget to pass the time. You can find the fidget cube online. Also, there are trinket-sized puzzles that you can pick up. However, I wouldn’t look at the fidget spinner that was a fad a few years ago as that could be perceived as being a bit too juvenile. Unless, of course, you are buying for a juvenile acquaintance, such as the teen child of your friend.

I hope that one of these gift ideas for an acquaintance is now on your shopping list. Thanks for reading this article about gift ideas for acquaintances. If you need more holiday ideas, just click here!
