DealDash Cooking in Bulk

DealDash

Cooking in bulk can save both money and time. Here are some suggestions from DealDash for cooking in bulk.

With so many people being quarantined, we thought this may be a good topic. It’s easy to think that you’ll have plenty of time to cook because you’re home. The truth is, there is a good chance that you’ll have nights where you just want to simplify things and you’re tired of cooking full meals. That’s where these ideas come in. This is more of a list of meal ideas than a list that truly teaches you how to cook in bulk. Read on for more information, from DealDash.

Cut Up and Portion in Bulk

Try cutting up some fruits or vegetables. You can portion them out so that they’re made for one person or the whole family. Regardless of your portion size, you can cook them however you’d like (they’re also great raw), then throw them into a Ziploc bag, freeze them and save them for another night. This is perfect for making a side dish with dinner.

Make Different Flavored Batches

Try making batches of chicken. I frequently cook 8-10 pieces of chicken at one time and simply change the seasoning that I use. Even in a normal week, I’ll bake and make lemon pepper, a Jamaican jerk flavor, and a blend of salt/pepper and other hot spices. I’ll use that for lunch as chicken can keep for a few days in the fridge without issue.

Utilize the Slow Cooker

Your crockpot makes things even easier. You can make large batches of chicken, chili, or soup without much effort. Cooking meat of your choice in soda makes for fall off the bone tenderness. Place the frozen meat in and cover it with enough soda (any soda will work). Cook on low for 8 hours then drain it. It will be nice and tender. I like pulled BBQ chicken, so I drain the soda, pull the meat apart, then add BBQ sauce and cook for 30 minutes.

Double and Freeze

You’ll find that most recipes are easy to double up. So, simply double your recipe and put one serving int a Ziploc bag and freeze it. I prefer bags over plastic containers because they’re easier to fit in the freezer.

DealDash’s Tips to Get Your Grill Ready for BBQing

BBQ weather is coming and I’m excited! If you need some tips on how to prepare your grill for the season, DealDash has you covered.

One of my favorite parts about warm weather is that it makes cooking so much easier. Sure, you can grill year-round, but I hate clearing the snow off of my deck so that I can start the grill. It’s important to make sure that you take care of the grill before you start cooking. Follow these suggestions from DealDash and get your grill ready in no time flat!

Stock Up on Grilling Essentials

Whether you have a charcoal grill or a gas grill, make sure you’re stocked up for the season. I typically use gas and there’s nothing worse than heating up the grill and coming out to find that nothing was heating because you didn’t have any gas.

Additionally, make sure that you’ve got all of your supplies in order. I like to keep a stock of aluminum foil and olive oil on hand. It makes things much easier to clean when you use aluminum foil.

Grates and Covers

I like to take all of the grates and covers out and do a deep soak. It would be smart to do this in the fall too, but I sometimes forget. So, I deep clean everything about a week before I’m ready to start grilling again. Typically, I just use soap and water. You’ll be amazed at how much grease those grates accumulate over one season of grilling.

Have Your Tools Handy and Ready to Go

It’s also important to have the right cooking tools. Be sure that you have a good spatula and tongs so that you can handle anything that you’re cooking. I’d also recommend a grill brush and a spray bottle filled with water. It seems a bit odd, but I typically spray the grill down while it’s still hot, then use the brush to clean everything off. I end by using the scarper portion. Be sure to clean the grill thoroughly: it’s possible to have a wire from the brush stick to the grate. It can then get in your food and cause all sorts of issues.

DealDash Cooks: Adding More Veggies to Meals

DealDash

Everyone knows that vegetables are one of the healthiest things that you can eat. Not everyone loves them. DealDash can help.

All people want to be healthy, and eating vegetables is a great way to start. However, they aren’t everyone’s favorite. Getting more vegetables into your meals can seem like a tough task. Here are some suggestions from DealDash that will help you get more vegetables into your meals.

Involve the Family in Meal Planning

You can involve the whole family in planning the meals. If you aren’t a big fan of vegetables you might not think your family will either. However, you might be surprised at what your family might like to try. This is a great way to get the family’s input on what vegetables they like and might even serve as an encouragement for you to eat them yourself. Another great reason to get the entire family involved with meal planning is you won’t end up with a lot of uneaten food if you accidentally made a vegetable that no one in your family likes to eat.

Try Different Stores and Markets

Going to a farmer’s market is another way to discover new and different vegetables that you might not have tried before. Many times there are samples offered so you can experiment with different veggies and their flavors without the commitment of purchasing them only to discover you really don’t like the taste.

Another great reason to go to the farmer’s market is to pick up some new recipes and ideas for cooking and serving the vegetables. If you come across a few vegetables that you like but have never cooked before you can ask the person at the stand for some guidance on how to cook them.

If you don’t have a farmer’s market near you, or if the weather is preventing it, no problem. You can simply try going to a few different grocery stores than you typically visit and check out their fruit and vegetable section. You will probably find a few things that you don’t see in the store that you normally visit.

Still Not a Fan? Make Sauce!

I will be the first to admit that I am not a big fan of many vegetables. Personally, I prefer to just eat a salad to get my nutrients in. However, my family doesn’t want to have a salad every night, so I try to get creative and incorporate different vegetables into meals. I have found that the easiest way to make vegetables taste better is to make a sauce or a dip for them. Obviously, this isn’t as healthy as just adding a little salt and pepper, but over time you can use less sauce. This is a great way to get your family to eat vegetables that they wouldn’t normally even try. Just make certain that they are not eating more dip or sauce than vegetables!

DealDash Cooks: Hard-Boiled Eggs

DealDash

If you’re looking for delicious and nutritious, you’ve come to the right place! Read all about hard-boiled eggs in this new article from DealDash.

Hard-boiled eggs are the perfect food for the on-the-go person who is looking to eat healthily. Whether you have time to make a meal or not, adding hard-boiled eggs to your list of options is a great idea. Read on for some “egg”cellent suggestions, from DealDash.

Making the Eggs

To start off, making hard-boiled eggs is surprisingly easy. First, place the eggs in a pot and cover them with water. The water should reach, roughly, an inch above the eggs. Increase the heat to bring the water to a boil, then let the water do the work. The real trick here is to figure out how long to cook them. A “hard-boiled” egg needs to be cooked for about 8 minutes. This leaves the yolk and the egg-white firm. If you’d like a bit of a runny yolk, you can cook the egg for as little as 4 minutes.

Now that you know how to boil an egg, we want to point out a few ways that you can take advantage of having these eggs on hand. The best way to take advantage of having hard-boiled eggs on hand is to simply cut them open and add a bit of salt or pepper for flavor.

Make Egg Salad for a Sandwich

If you’re looking for other options, you can make an easy egg salad by cutting the eggs up and adding mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Sometimes I like to add celery or onion to it as well. You can find a number of recipes online for egg salad that doesn’t use mayonnaise at all. I’ve found that using avocados in my egg salad eliminates the need for mayonnaise altogether. It also makes the salad extra creamy.

Salads are Better With Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs make a great addition to any salad. I like to cut them in half or quarters and place them on top. Using hard-boiled eggs is most common in a chef salad, but I like adding them to my Cobb salads too.

WIN or BIN Cooking Supplies from DealDash

Kitchen and Dining is one of my favorite DealDash categories. You will find things such as small appliances, cutlery, and decorative kitchen items. If you don’t win an auction for the kitchen item you wanted, don’t despair. DealDash has a handy “Buy It Now” option on each item. You can always BIN (Buy It Now), by paying BIN price for the item and you will receive all of your bids back that you spent on that item. So, if you bid on a kitchen item that you are planning on buying anyway, you are bidding with no risk to your wallet. When you BIN the item you want you will receive each and every bid back that you spent on that particular auction.

DealDash Speeds Up Your Cooking

DealDash

Who wants to spend all day in the kitchen? Use these handy suggestions from DealDash to reduce the amount of time you spend in the kitchen.

Most people are constantly looking for ways to prepare great-tasting food without having to spend all day in the kitchen. I have good news for you – you can speed up the time that you spend in the kitchen and still make delicious food. Here are a few suggestions from DealDash that can help you save time in the kitchen.

Things Go Smoothly When You’re Prepared

Firstly, you can save a lot of time cooking if you have prepared your ingredients and equipment you need before you begin food preparation. When you prepare everything ahead of time, you will be organized and able to focus. Personally, what seems to waste the most time when I am preparing food is not having everything close by and ready to use. Save time – be prepared!

Take Advantage of “One Pot” Dishes

Another great way to save time in the kitchen is by making meals that require fewer pots and pans. This will help you keep your kitchen neat and clean by not having cooking implements all over the counters. It will also save you time when it comes to clean-up and washing the dishes. If you take a quick peek online you will find tons of recipes that only require one pot or pan to prepare.

Save Time by Shopping on DealDash

Finally, one of the best ways to save time is by getting your kitchen items on DealDash. You can bid on items for the kitchen without even being at your computer! Simply input as many bids as you would like to spend into your Bid Buddy, and he will do the bidding for you. If you don’t win the auction, you can always buy the item using the BIN (Buy It Now) button, and you will receive all of your bids back. You will receive fast and free shipping on items both won and purchased on DealDash. Just click right here to check out the Kitchen and Dining category.
