Redecorate a Bedroom for Tweens With DealDash

Come check out the finds on DealDash.com!

Kids grow up fast, has your little kid become a tween? Let DealDash give you some suggestions on how to redecorate their bedroom.

A tween is an older child that isn’t quite a teenager yet – they are beTWEEN being a kid and a teen. When we think about redecorating your tween’s bedroom, they are probably tired of the cutesy decorations. However, they aren’t quite old enough to be interested in a more sophisticated style, either. DealDash will help you redecorate the bedroom.

What Are Their Interests?

To begin with, the first thing that you should do before you redecorate your child’s room is to think about their interests. While you are thinking about their interests, though, be cautious not to pick something that they will outgrow in the next year or two. For instance, if they are into football, they will probably still like it in a few years. However, if they are the type of kid to have a different favorite movie/TV show every-other-week, then you probably want to steer clear of fleeting interests.

Ask If They Want to Help Design It

Next, depending on the child, they might want to help you pick their new paint colors at the store, choose new art or pictures for the walls, and pick their own new bedspread. On the other hand, you might have a tween like my 12-year-old son who just “doesn’t care”. Of course, if I picked something completely not his taste, like sparkly unicorns, he would probably care! However, if I stick to things he is interested in, he doesn’t really care about the wall color or if he has striped curtains versus solid. You know your child best, but it’s always nice to have some input on their decorating preferences.

Choosing a paint color can be tricky, especially if you want to keep the room in continuity with the rest of the house. There is a great article on Martha Stewart’s website that can help you choose a paint color that will complement the rest of your home.

Don’t Throw Away/Donate Without Asking First

Being a tween can be a confusing time, with one foot in “Baby Land” and one foot in “Big Kidville”. So while your tween might want to decorate their bedroom, they might not want to get rid of all of their toys and games. Let them choose which things they want to throw away or donate. If they end up putting something in the donation box you think they might miss later you might want to consider saving it for them if you have the extra space. They probably won’t miss that old board game that’s missing pieces, but they might miss a special stuffed animal or action figure.

DealDash Presents: Setting Goals for Kids

DealDash

Kids who have goals have something to strive towards. Here are some tips on setting goals for kids, from DealDash.

This is going to be a difficult school year, with some kids going to school in-person, some learning at home, and some doing a hybrid model. However, it’s important that you should help your kids in setting some goals for themselves. Read these tips for ideas on setting goals for kids. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Don’t Set Unreasonable Goals

To begin with, it’s important to help your kids in setting reasonable goals. If you give your child some reasonable suggestions to choose from, it can make it easier for them. Don’t overwhelm them, just offer a few suggestions for them to think about. This way your child will be less frustrated in the process of setting and reaching their goals. By setting small goals at first your child will be able to achieve them and set slightly harder goals each time. This will build confidence and make them feel great about themselves.

Brainstorm on Paper

Next, even though many kids have computers and cell phones now, there’s just something about brainstorming on paper that helps you think. Also, physically writing the goals down gives your kid something to see to remind them what their goals are. You can give them a special notebook, or you can get a corkboard with pushpins, or even make a poster with them. After your kids set their goals and write them down, they can refer back to them and check them off when they have been accomplished. Brainstorming on paper can take a little practice at first. PBS Kids has a great article explaining how to teach your kids to brainstorm. Check it out right here.

Celebrate Accomplished Goals

Finally, once your child has accomplished their goal, it’s important to celebrate! This can be something as small as having a popsicle from the freezer or something as big as a trip out to their favorite restaurant. It all depends on how difficult the goal was, and how difficult it was for them to achieve it. Of course, accomplishing a goal is a reward on its own, but there’s nothing wrong with a little celebration sometimes!

DealDash Helps Your Kids Set Goals

There are a variety of items and tools that can help you in assisting your child to set goals. As I mentioned above, a pen and notebook are two things they will need. DealDash has both! DealDash Presents: What You Need for Baby

DealDashDealDash can help you figure out what you need for your new baby. Read on for suggestions.

In the “good old days” (like 2019!) your friends and family would throw a baby shower for new parents. However, now in the days of social distancing and less family get-togethers, there are fewer baby showers. If you’re a first-time parent, you might not know what you should buy for your new arrival. Here are some tips for getting the right things to care for your baby, from DealDash.

Get a Baby Monitor – On DealDash

To begin with, one of the most important things that I received as a gift when I was a new mom was my baby monitor. Having a baby monitor was like having a little bit of freedom while still being able to be sure that your baby doesn’t need anything. If you don’t have a baby monitor, then you won’t be able to know when your baby wakes from their nap, needs a diaper change, or is hungry. Most baby monitors have 2-way communication, as well. This is good because if your baby wakes while you can’t come immediately, like when you’re in the shower, you can at least talk or sing to them while you are finishing up so they don’t feel alone. You can find baby monitors on DealDash, just click here.

Travel System – On DealDash

Next, you will definitely need a car seat and stroller – so why not just get a travel system? A travel system includes a “baby bucket” style car seat and a stroller. The baby bucket can be transferred from the car to the stroller, and can also be carried around a store or into your home. You might wonder why you would need this – but trust me, you do! Otherwise, you will have to take your baby out of the car seat each time you get in and out of the car. And everyone knows that babies love to sleep in the car, and unbuckling them usually wakes them up and makes them unhappy. Check out the travel systems at this link here.

Baby Toys

Finally, of course your baby will need toys! The type and style are up to you, just be sure that you follow the age guidelines that are recommended. When your baby is small they will most likely enjoy stuffed animals and items that have noises like rattles or crinkles. Many people also like to get their baby a play mat so they can spend time on the floor doing “tummy time” or laying flat on their back and looking at the toy danglers above. Remember, always follow the age guidelines on the packages. Click here to see baby toys and accessories.

Thanks for Reading

Of course, you will need many more things to get your baby settled in, this is just the start of the things that you’ll need to take care of a baby. Be sure that you do thorough research into your baby purchases so you know that you are purchasing quality items for your infant.

DealDash has many quality products for your baby. Some of these products include strollers, cribs, and travel systems. No matter what you need for your baby you should always check there first. Have a great time everyone, and happy bidding!

DealDash Kids: Reading at Home

DealDash

Kids will be returning to school in a few weeks, either in-person or online. Let’s get back into the swing of education by reading more at home. DealDash has some suggestions for you.

With many places announcing their learning plans for the upcoming school year, it means that school is on the horizon. If your kids haven’t been doing much (or any!) reading over the summer, now is a great time to start. Also, it will get them back into the “learning frame of mind”. Here are some tips to get them started, from DealDash.

Let Them Choose

To begin with, who wants to read things that they aren’t interested in? Many libraries are now opening back up or offering curbside pick-up. For younger kids, you can ask them what they would like to read about. As for the older ones, pull up the library website and let them choose for themselves. When kids get to choose exactly what they want to read they are much more likely to enjoy the experience and want to try another book when they are finished.

Have Family Reading Time

Next, try to have a family reading time each day. This can be sometime during the day, or right before bed. You can either choose a book and read aloud to the family, or each person can read their own book to themselves. It just depends on the age of the family members.

If All Else Fails…

Finally, some people just don’t enjoy reading. If your child just isn’t interested but you still want them to practice, you might have to bribe them. You can tell them that for every 15 minutes of reading that they finish they can have 30 minutes of screen time, or perhaps go to bed 15 minutes later. It’s up to you what the bribe should consist of, but it should be something small that you don’t mind happening each day. For example, you might not want to use candy as a bribe if you don’t want them to eat candy every day.

DealDash Helps Organize the Books

Do you have a bookshelf that is dedicated to your children’s books? Having all of their books in one easy place to choose from will make them more willing to pick a book. If they have to dig through a shelf of adult’s books or search all over the house for a book can make them feel like it’s more of a chore. So if you don’t have a bookshelf for your kids, it’s time to get one from DealDash. You can find bookshelves and other cabinets and shelving items in the Home, Garden, and Tools category. Just click here to browse.

DealDash Kids: It’s Hobby Time!

DealDash

Now more than ever, it’s important for kids to have a hobby. Here are some suggestions for why you should help them get started, from DealDash.

If your kids are anything like mine, they have been either in the house or backyard since March. This can be difficult for kids, and they need an outlet. This is a great reason why you should help your child find a hobby. There are lots of other reasons, too, so here are a few from DealDash.

A Way to Occupy the Time

As I mentioned above, a hobby is a great way to spend time. Time is something that kids probably have a lot of right now since school is out and most camps and activities have been canceled. If your child has been wandering around the house saying “I’m borrrreedd” every few minutes, it’s definitely time to help them find a hobby.

Some people think that a hobby has to involve some sort of skill, but this isn’t true for a lot of hobbies – at least to get started. If your child wants to get serious about their hobby then they will develop skill over time. However, to just get started they only need the willingness to learn and the materials to do the hobby.

Discover Self-Esteem and Help it Grow

Next, picking up a hobby can be a key factor in building a child’s self-esteem. Things have been very strange for the past few months, and it has left kids feeling very uncertain about things. Having a good self-esteem can help them “roll” with the changes that are certain to come once school begins again.

Get Hobby Items on DealDash

Finally, if you are ready to help your kids get started on a new hobby, DealDash can help. From board games to Legos to sports equipment, you will find what you’re looking for when you browse in the Hobbies, Toys Outdoors, and Games category.
