DealDash Self-Care for Parents

DealDash

We all need to take some time for self-care, especially those of us who have small children. DealDash has some tips to help.

Let’s face it, life has been rough for parents lately – between the online school meetings, trying to homeschool the kids to teach them new lessons, as well as trying to work. It’s been tough. This is why sneaking in a little time for yourself each day is important. When you’re a mom, you understand how draining motherhood is. Read on for some helpful suggestions from DealDash.

You Have to Make Time

During this stressful time, you are probably focusing all of your attention on taking care of your children. You just quite simply forget to be kind and to care of yourself. The challenge, however, is finding time in your day to do so. It’s easy to disregard self-care and make yourself a priority because of the numerous things need to be done first. The thing is unless you can put yourself first and make self-care a priority, having the time for yourself will never happen. If you and your family have a schedule that you try to follow during the day, you need to pencil in a space each day for yourself.

Make it a Late Night or an Early Morning

I take full advantage of the time when my children go to bed and also the moments I’m awake in the morning before they are to carve out my “me time”. I’ll admit that it’s challenging. I really like getting to bed early and also sleeping in. However, the only “sleeping in” that I get these days is when my husband offers to take over the morning routine.

If you’re like me, and neither enjoys staying up late or rising early, setting your alarm even 15 minutes earlier in the AM can be a huge step toward finding time for yourself. Sadly, Mom life lately has been a busy life so possibly the only real respite you get is when your children are sleeping. Use naps and bedtime to partake in self-care activities you enjoy such as exercising, yoga, crafts, or reading a book.

Pick Yourself Up Something Nice on DealDash

Finally, one of the best ways to enjoy a little self-care is to get yourself a little gift. My favorite and one of the most popular categories on DealDash is Fashion, Health, and Beauty. There are a ton of items to choose from such as perfume, shoulder massagers, purses and bags! There are also fancy pens, spa items, and clothing. DealDash Kids: Struggling With Schoolwork?

DealDash

Homeschooling is very challenging – especially if you weren’t prepared. Help your child if they’re struggling with these tips from DealDash.

Let’s face it, very few parents who are now homeschooling their children were prepared for it. In fact, many kids who are normally excellent students are now struggling with their assignments at home. Here are a few things that you can do as a parent to help make schoolwork go a little easier for your child, from DealDash.

Use Their Teacher’s Office Hours and Email

Firstly, you can talk to your child’s teacher, most teachers have set “office hours” when they can be contacted online. If your child’s teacher doesn’t have set office hours, be sure to email them. Let them know if your child is having difficulty with the schoolwork that has been assigned.

If your child is typically a good student but is struggling, it’s possible that the work just wasn’t explained properly. It can be very difficult to understand the directions if they are given during a conference call with the whole class. There are too many distractions. Email your child’s teacher, I’m sure they will be happy to help.

Spread Breaks Throughout the Day

Next, if your child has a lot of schoolwork to do during the day, be sure they are taking regular breaks. A good rule of thumb is 45 minutes of classwork, and then a 15-minute break, with a longer 30-minute break for lunch. Let your child do what they want for their breaks, but try to encourage going outside for some fresh air in your yard or having a healthy snack such as some cut up fruit, cheese, hummus, etc.

Set Up a Prize Box – Let DealDash Help!

Finally, set up a prize box with some prizes that you know your kids will love. For each day they do their schoolwork give them a “ticket”. When they receive 20 tickets they can get a prize! You might also give out tickets for extra credit such as reading a chapter of a book, playing a math game on the computer, or anything else you can think of to encourage their learning.

DealDash is the perfect place to get prizes to put in your homeschooling prize box. You will find Legos, stuffed animals, and other toys. The best part about getting items by winning or BInning them is that you don’t even have to leave your house! All items are delivered right to your house with free shipping. Click here to browse the toys – I’m sure you’ll find something your kids will love! Remember, DealDash is for adults age 18+, only. No underage bidders are permitted on the site.

DealDash Kids: Are You Really Connecting?

DealDash

You might be with your kids 24/7 now, but are you really connecting? Here are some suggestions from DealDash to keep your bond close.

Most of the country is still on a stay-at-home order, so if you have kids, you are with them constantly. Physical closeness is one thing, and emotional closeness is another, though. Read this new article from DealDash for ways to really connect with your child while we are all at home together.

Eat All of Your Meals Together

First off, a great thing about social distancing is that many families are now able to eat all of their meals together. It’s a great way to save money, and it also provides extra opportunities to connect with your children. You should sit down and eat all three meals per day with your family if you can.  Asking them what is going on with their classes online will really help you to connect with your child, and mealtime is the perfect opportunity!

Cook With Your Kids (and DealDash)

Next, someone has to cook all of those meals that you are eating together. Another way to connect with your kids is to let them help cook the meals. Smaller kids can have easy jobs such as helping you get all of the utensils, plates, and cups out. Older kids can help you wash fruits and veggies, measure ingredients, and use small appliances such as the stand mixer or toaster oven – with your supervision, of course!

DealDash is the perfect place to get small appliances and cooking utensils. You will find roasting pans, cutting boards, knives, and many small appliances. Winning (or BINning) kitchen items from DealDash is fun and you don’t even have to leave your house since everything is delivered with free shipping. Click here to browse the Kitchen and Dining category – I’m sure you’ll find something you love! Remember, DealDash is for adults age 18+, only. No underage bidders are permitted on the site.

Take Up a Hobby Together

Finally, even though your kids are most likely going to school online, there is still a lot of downtime during the day. If your kids have been complaining about being bored, why not consider getting involved in a hobby that you think your child might like? This can be a hobby that you have done before or a completely new venture. It all depends on what you and your child are both interested in pursuing.

Many big box stores are offering curbside pick-up so you can order supplies online and then pick them up outside the store so you can observe the social distancing protocols. Starting a hobby with your child is a super way to spend some quality time together and really connect with each other.

Thanks for Reading

Taking the time to really connect with your child will help ease their minds during this stressful time. You will have a great time, too, so be sure to take the time to make a connection with your child while we are all stuck at home.

If you need new kitchen supplies DealDash can help. You will find toasters, stand mixers, roasting pans, and more. Visit now to see how much you can save. Have a great time and happy bidding everyone!

DealDash Kids: Help Your Kids Enjoy Reading

DealDash

As a kid, I loved to read. This love doesn’t come naturally to all kids, though. Here are some pointers from DealDash to help your kids learn how to enjoy reading.

I was an only child when I was a kid, so I had plenty of lonely times that I filled with books. When I was young, I was a very early reader. I never struggled with it, so that is probably why I loved it! However, reading doesn’t come easy to all kids, my oldest being one of them. Here are some tips that I have used with him to help him enjoy reading.

Let Them Read Anything They Want (Within Reason)

When kids are in school they are always told exactly what to read. Now that we are all teaching at home there is more freedom for kids to choose exactly what they want to read. My oldest isn’t fond of typical novels, he likes graphic novels, comic books, and non-fiction books such as World Record books. These aren’t things that they are allowed to read for school book reports, but since the kids currently only have a goal for “minutes read” this isn’t a problem.

Encourage Them to Read to a Pet or Sibling

Another way that you can help your kids enjoy reading is to ask them to read to a pet or a little brother or sister. This works best if the younger sibling doesn’t know how to read yet, so they don’t point out any mistakes – and I’m assuming your pets don’t know how to read, either! Ever since the kids have been out of school my oldest has been reading to my youngest after dinner each night. This helps your reader feel more confident because the younger child will presumably pick a book that is an easier level than the reader uses for school.

Organize the Books in a Nice Way With Help From DealDash

Choosing a book from a messy and cluttered area can be very frustrating. So, another way to help your child enjoy reading is to have your books nicely organized for them to peruse. If you don’t have a bookshelf dedicated to your children’s books, it’s time to get one from DealDash. You can find bookshelves and other lovely home decor items in the Home, Garden, and Tools category. Just click here to browse.

DealDash Kids: Mom’s Store is Open for Business!

DealDash

Not being able to go out and look around and shop can be hard on kids, too. Here are some tips to help, from DealDash.

I don’t know about your kids, but 2 out of 3 of mine are big fans of browsing and shopping at the store. Walking around the mall is one of their favorite activities. However, during these days of social distancing, it’s just not a good idea. This is why I opened “Mom’s Store” at home for the kids. Read on for some tips on setting up your own little shop at home for your kids, from DealDash.

What IS Mom’s Store, Anyway?

Personally, I love to shop during sales and on the clearance racks and save the items for later. These are items that I keep in a box in the closet whenever I need a quick present for one of my own kids, for a birthday party with little notice, or any other holiday. I mostly have kid’s items, but I like to keep a few teen and adult items on hand, too, such as lotion sets or pretty scarves. You never know when you might need a spur-of-the-moment gift.

Now that I have had all of this extra time at home, I have moved all of the kid’s items into their own separate toy chest. I have also gone around the house and added new things that I have on hand such as craft supplies, new clothing that I hadn’t given them yet, stickers, and other small things. This is the “stock” at Mom’s Store. The kids can shop each Saturday using the tally marks that they earn during the week.

How Do the Kids Earn Tally Marks?

All three of my kids, even the preschooler, are having school online now. Each day that they do their schoolwork without complaining, or if one of the older ones helps the baby, they get a tally mark on my whiteboard. At the end of the week we count up the tally marks, and this is the currency at Mom’s Store.

There are other ways to earn tally marks such as doing extra chores in addition to their typical ones, babysitting the little one in the morning so Mom can get an extra hour of sleep, and making lunch for their siblings. Additionally, if one of them gets “caught” doing something extra nice, that can earn a tally mark as well. This mostly applies to the little one in our case, since he is too small to do most of the other things.

Get More Stock for Mom’s Store on DealDash

Now that we have been stuck at home for a few weeks, the stock at Mom’s Store is getting a little low. Thankfully, DealDash is always there 24/7 to win and BIN (Buy It Now) items. You will find all sorts of things that your kids will want to get from Mom’s Store. Stock up with kid’s items, and keep the fun at home going! You will find stuffed animals, Lego sets, games, electronics, and more. Just click here to check out the auctions. Remember, DealDash is only for adults, age 18+. So let the kids shop at Mom’s Store, and save the bidding for yourself!
