DealDash Kids: Help Your Child Find a Hobby

DealDash

Kids feel happier and more fulfilled when they have a hobby they love. Here are some suggestions from DealDash to help you navigate the choices.

There are a ton of reasons you should help your child find a hobby. It can be tricky for them to choose since there are so many great hobbies out there to choose from. Choosing a hobby they love while they are young can bring a lifetime of fulfillment. Read on for some hobby suggestions from DealDash.

What Do They Love to Play?

Firstly, a good way to help your child to choose a hobby is to pick something that they love to play and expand upon it. For example, if your child likes to play “kitchen” then you can introduce them to cooking and baking. If your child love to play with dollhouses, then a great hobby to show them would be making miniatures for their dollhouse. A hobby is definitely a great way for your child to build up their self-esteem.  This will come as they gain proficiency in their new hobby.

Think About Their Personality

Next, a way to help them choose a hobby is to think about their personality. Are they outdoorsy or more the indoor type? Do they love physical activity and sports or do they prefer reading and quiet activities? For example, a great hobby for an active outdoorsy child would be hiking or gardening. A fine hobby for a quiet child who prefers the indoors could be writing poetry or painting.

An added benefit of choosing a hobby to match their personality is that they will soon gain new friends who like the same hobby. You will see that having a hobby will give your child something to talk about and a reason to interact with other people who share similar interests. Even if your child chooses a more solitary hobby like knitting or crochet there are meet-ups and clubs for just about any hobby they pick.

Get Hobby Supplies from DealDash

Finally, a wonderful way to save money on your child’s new hobby is by getting supplies on DealDash. There are many items that can help your child further their hobby, but remember, DealDash is only for adults. The DealDash services are offered and may only be used by persons over the age of 18. DealDash Family: Indoor Winter Fun

DealDash

With the fun and excitement of the holidays over, your family might be complaining of boredom. No problem, DealDash has some ideas for fun places to go when it’s cold out.

Let’s face it, the younger members of your family have probably already gotten tired of the mountain of toys that they unwrapped just a few weeks ago. The mall can be fun, but you can only go there so many times. Read on for some fun places from DealDash to go that won’t have your family saying “I’m borrrred!”

The Arcade

Going to the arcade might seem like a very old idea to those of us who grew up in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. However, the kids of today still like going to the arcade – especially if your arcade does a ticket/prize swap. For the younger kids, there are some games that you might be familiar with as an app on your phone, for older kids, there are games such as basketball and giant Connect Four, and for us Gen X and Y’ers, there are classic video games. When my family was on vacation this past summer to Utah, they even had nickel arcades! You can have a lot of fun with just a few dollars.

The Aquarium

Next, the aquarium is one of my family’s favorite activities. Most medium-sized cities have one, and they are usually reasonably priced. We like the aquarium so much that we always buy a yearly pass so we can go as many times as we want for free throughout the year. Typically, if you plan on going to the aquarium at least three times per year then buying the yearly pass makes good financial sense. The aquarium is another place that can be fun for the whole family from kids to seniors. My mother-in-law always enjoys going with us when she is in town. Just be sure to do the math to see if buying a yearly pass makes sense financially.

Jumpy Places

Jumpy places have been popping up all over the place in my area. These are places that have indoor trampolines, big “pools” full of foam, and air-filled structures for kids to climb, slide, and play on. This is the only place on the list that I have included that the adults in the family might not enjoy. However, depending on the facility, usually, the adults are allowed to jump on the trampolines, too.

Want to Stay Home? Get Activities on DealDash

Finally, if you are the type of person who prefers to stay home when the weather is bad, then DealDash has a solution. There are plenty of fun things on DealDash that can be won in auction or BINned (Buy It Now) afterward. You will find things like slot car racing sets, Legos, video game systems, and board games. Click here to check out one of my favorite categories – Toys, Hobbies, Outdoors, and Games.  You will find all of the activities that I mentioned and so many more! Remember, the DealDash services are offered and may only be used by persons over the age of 18.

DealDash’s Family Friendly New Year’s Eve Ideas

DealDash

You don’t have to be a party person to enjoy New Year’s Eve. Here are some family friendly ideas from DealDash to give you some ideas for your evening.

There comes a time for all of us when the idea of going out to spend the night in a crowded bar just isn’t appealing anymore. If you’re like me, spending the night with your family is a much better option. Read on for some suggestions from DealDash to enjoy the night with your family.

PJ Day for Everyone

Firstly, everyone loves wearing PJs, so an idea is to make it a pajama party for the kids. And also this makes life so much easier when you have to carry them to bed. The kids are already comfy and prepared, so you can just lay them down, pull the covers up, and let them doze back off. Also, this is an especially good plan for the type of person who is super excited to stay up until midnight but just can’t quite make it that late.

Invite Friends and Family for a Potluck Dinner

Next, we like to start the night with a bit of a potluck so that no one person has all of the work. As a result, many hands make the lifting light, as they say. We typically try to have an early dinner so that there is time for the kids to take a quick nap. Truth be told, some of our adults sneak a nap in as well. When you make it a pajama party, everyone can nap!

Special New Year’s Treats

Finally, our family really enjoys baking, so we make some sort of dessert every year that the family eats after the ball drops. It may be cookies with glittery sprinkles or it may be something someone found online. Therefore, the only rule is that the kids have to have some type of role in the process. My daughter loves to decorate with frosting and sprinkles.

Over the years, we’ve found that having a toast is a favorite tradition for our family. We give everyone their drink of choice (including milk or juice for the kids) so that anyone can take part. There’s a very short speech, and we raise our glass. It brings everyone together and allows people to offer a quick message.

Also, if you want to keep the energy up for most of the night, try watching “the ball drop” across the world. It’s really cool to see how everyone celebrates, and Saudi Arabia typically has one of the most beautiful shows imaginable. You won’t be disappointed.

DealDash Kids: Homework Help for Kids

DealDash

Every kid is different, but many of them need help with homework. Follow these suggestions from DealDash and have an easier time helping your child.

Many kids struggle with homework, and as a parent, it means that it ends up being your struggle as well. Thankfully, there are quite a few things that you can do as a parent to help make homework go more smoothly for your child, with a little help from DealDash.

Get Started Right Away (Or After Snack)

As soon as my school-aged children (8 and 11) get off of the bus, it’s time to do homework. It’s a predictable routine, and there are rarely any arguments about it. Ever since they were in Kindergarten this has been our schedule. On the other hand, my friend’s son is not in this routine, and there are many homework-related arguments in their home. Of course, sometimes they come home hungry and request to have their snack before homework instead of the other way around.

Also, if your child is older they probably have more homework. For your own sanity, make sure that you allow them to take breaks. A 10-15 minute break after each homework assignment is sufficient. It’s surprising to me the amount of homework my 5th grader has versus how much he had last year. Be sure to let them take breaks and things will go more smoothly at home.

Try to Make it Fun

It may sound difficult, but you can try to make homework fun for your kids. Many of you might remember those old “Schoolhouse Rock” videos. Did you know that many of them are available on YouTube to watch for free? This is a great option especially if your child is more of a visual learner. My daughter who is in 2nd grade loves them! And she was very surprised to hear that I watched them when I was her age! There are also many free (and paid) apps that can teach and entertain at the same time. Just do a search for “free education games” or “math games” or “reading games”, and you will have many to choose from to download.

Reward Good Grades With Help From DealDash

Does your child have good grades? Be sure to reward your child’s good work. Doing homework consistently and thoroughly usually leads to better grades. When you notice that your child has been getting great grades on tests and schoolwork, you might want to get them a small gift. DealDash has many things that your child would love. No matter if they love Legos, stuffed animals, board games, or even video games, DealDash has you covered. Click here to see some amazing toys that will really “WOW” your kids. Of course, DealDash is only for adults – The DealDash services are offered and may only be used by persons over the age of 18.

DealDash Kids: Fun Family Holiday Activities

DealDash

Tis the season to spend quality time with family. If you’re running out of fun holiday activities to do with your family, look no further.

It’s the perfect time of year to make lasting lifetime memories with your family. There’s nothing wrong with sitting around and watching TV sometimes, but fun activities will really stand out in everyone’s mind. Here are some great holiday activities to do with your family, from DealDash.

Write Letters to Santa

My kids love writing letters to Santa Claus. Our local community organization made it a point to respond to the letters that we sent them. It was a well-written, personalized letter that didn’t make any promises about gifts. The kids loved getting a personalized note from Santa Claus. See if there is an organization in your area that does this as well. You can try asking at your local library, elementary school, or church. There are also places online you can order a postcard from Santa, as well.

Wrap Christmas Presents

Wrapping presents might seem like a chore to an adult, but kids love to wrap presents. If you have more than one child you can ask if they would like to wrap the other’s present. Of course, only do this if your kids are old enough to keep a secret! If they are an only child or can’t keep a secret, ask if they would like to wrap Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt/Uncle/Cousin’s present. My daughter is 8 and loves to wrap her brother’s presents. She not only thinks it’s fun but also enjoys knowing a secret the boys don’t know!

Decorate With DealDash

As with wrapping presents, decorating can be a chore for adults and a joy for children. DealDash has some great things to use to decorate for the holidays. You will find a Christmas train, lighting strips, smart bulbs and many other decorative items on DealDash.  Or you can always check out the Home, Garden, and Tools category, located here.

The Pickle Game

We’ve also picked up the German tradition of “hiding the pickle”. You purchase a pickle shaped ornament and hide it on the Christmas tree. You give the “go” and the kids search the Christmas tree for the ornament. Whoever finds it first wins a prize. The following year, the person who won gets to hide the ornament for everyone else to find.
