Get a Whole Body Workout

First, fitting extra fitness into your life is a great idea – especially if you try to maximize your time. Instead of standing in place while you are lifting hand weights, march in place. If you are able to go outside for a walk, strap some ankle weights onto your legs. This way you are working double the muscles at the same time! It’s a real time-saver.

Do Your Reps

Doing just one sit-up or push-up isn’t going to do a lot for your overall fitness (though it’s better than nothing!). This is why you need to do reps. When you are first starting out, you can do 5 reps of each exercise. As this gets easier and easier, you can raise it to 10, 15, and then 20. Go slowly, and increase your reps gradually over the next few weeks. If you’re not going to do the number of reps required to be successful you won’t see the results that you’re looking for.

Also, with all of the extra time that you are spending at home instead of commuting, hanging out with friends, or shopping, you are probably watching TV or movies at home. This might be a little boring for you, but it can be good for your fitness. It’s very easy to fit a little fitness into your day while you are watching TV. If you are watching live TV, you can put in a few reps of sit-ups or push-ups. On the other hand, if you are watching pre-recorded shows, you can do something easy like leg lifts while you watch your show. For added resistance, add ankle weights.
