DealDash Redecorates a Gender Neutral Child’s Room

DealDash

If your child is ready to upgrade their bedroom, it’s easy. Let DealDash help you decorate their new room.

Redecorating your child’s bedroom doesn’t have to be a chore. It can be fun for both of you. Be sure to talk to them beforehand and get some input from them. Ask them what colors they might like to paint the room, and if they would like a theme. If they want a theme, then you need to read this article from DealDash.

Animal Friends for All, DealDash Can Help

To begin with, I know that sometimes there just aren’t enough bedrooms in the home, and siblings have to share. This can be problematic for decorating if a boy and a girl are sharing. However, that isn’t an issue at all if you use an animal theme. Most little boys and girls all love animals. You could do a jungle, ocean, or cat/dog animal themed room.

If you and the kids decide on an animal room, DealDash can help. You will find lots of adorable things for a kid’s bedroom. Every little kid needs a night light, and if you click right here you will see the different animal night lights that DealDash has up for bid. You can also check the Home, Garden, and Tools category, right here.

Princesses, Knights, and Dragons for Boys and Girls

Next, the second option that works great for both boys and girls is a princess, knights, and dragon room. You can have a big castle either printed out or painted on the wall, and you can even add extra touches such as glitter to make it special. If this is specifically for boys you can leave out the princesses if they don’t care for them, and skip the dragons for the girls if they find them too scary. This is a very easy theme to use, there are plenty of places you can use with the upgrade such as sheets, a room border, and night light.

The Old Wast

Finally, another super option for a gender neutral room is the old west. Typically when you think about cowboys you might think “that’s just for boys”, but there were plenty of cowgirls as well. For a cute old west theme, you could paint an old-timey jail on the wall, or even a desert and cactus theme. If you want to get really creative, you could even put wheels and a canopy on their bed to look like an old stagecoach.

Thanks for Reading

Thanks for reading this new DealDash Reviewed blog on decorating your child’s gender neutral room. Remember, the most important part is really listening to see what your child is interested in. Don’t just use a theme because it looks “cool”, make sure your child is actually interested in the subject.

DealDash Family Guide to Outside Chores

DealDash

Now is the time that there are tons of outside chores. DealDash has some suggestions to help include the whole family.

Summer is the season where there are many outdoor chores that need to be done. While the kids get to have fun outside, it’s important that you don’t forget all of the chores that come with the temperature rising. The good news is that you can get everyone to help. Follow these tips from DealDash to get everyone involved.

Lawn Care for Everyone

When I say lawn care, you probably assume I mean cutting grass and edging. While those are important parts, you can get the family to help out with pulling weeds or spreading grass seed. When it comes to pulling weeds, you can make it a race to see who can get the most weeds in a certain amount of time.

Gardening Together

Everyone loves the look of a nice garden. It’s not nearly as difficult as most people think. Find a local nursery that can guide you through what plants to use based on your soil and how much sun you get in a specific spot. I’m sure the kids would be willing to help out. I know my kids love playing in the dirt!

Cleaning the patio

It’s important to keep your patio clean. I find the best way to do that is to hose it down frequently. If you’re keeping up with our posts, you may have read our recent Summer Activities post which included some water games. Kill two birds with one stone and hose down the patio the same day that you’re playing water games. As an added bonus, this gives you the chance to spray the kids and have a little fun!

Power Washing – Let DealDash Help

This is one of my guilty pleasures. Doing a quick “wash” with a normal garden hose will keep residue from building up, but power washing goes to the next level. Whether I’m spraying the patio, the deck, or the siding, there’s something oddly satisfying about watching built-up grime slowly peel away. This is another chore that you could entrust an older 12+ responsible child to handle. As long as they’re using it properly and avoiding glass, there are a limited number of issues that can pop up.

Not everyone has a power washer, though. DealDash can solve that problem! If you’re in the market for your first power washer or a replacement for your old one, just click here. You will find a couple of different choices of power washers. You can also browse the Home, Garden, and Tools category, right here.

Thanks for Reading

These cleaning tips and suggestions will help you get the whole family involved in the outdoor chores. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on chores in the outdoors.

DealDash Craft Room Decoration

DealDash

If you love crafting you should have a dedicated space. Having a fantastic craft space in your home makes things more fun. Let DealDash help.

Being a serious crafter means that I have to have a craft room in my house. If you do not have space for a whole craft room in your home, you only need a small space to call your own. It is easy to establish a little space to call your crafting area. Here are some ideas from DealDash to assist in your journey to having a craft space.

Where Will You Choose to Craft?

Having a whole room dedicated to crafting is best for serious crafters. Also, it is beneficial to have a window for natural light. Depending on what kind of crafts you do, you might need a GFCI outlet installed, especially if you use any sort of liquids in your craft. You can use a finished basement, a walk-in closet, a spare bedroom, or an unused dining room will also work well. You do not need tons of space, just work with what you’ve got. I currently use an extra bedroom in my house as a craft room, but I am in the process of having a dedicated craft room built.

What Goes in Your Craft Room?

After you have chosen space for your craft room you will need to figure out the big items you need first. For most crafts, you will probably need a desk or large table with an office-type chair. You might also need extra lighting, a more comfortable chair for people who hand-sew, crochet, or knit, and shelves and cabinets.

In my new craft room, I had a work table the length of the room installed with a fabric cutting channel, a sink, a desk, and a dedicated shelf for my 3D printer. You may or may not need any of these items in your new craft room, but it gives you something to think about while planning your new craft room.

Storage Saves Space – DealDash Can Help

Finally, just about every craft that I can begin to think of can benefit from shelving, racks, baskets, containers, and more. Of course, let your needs and your budget dictate what you put in in your craft area.

Most crafting involves many tiny pieces, from needles, pins, thread, stickers, staples, markers, etc. Do yourself a favor and obtain storage tubs for all of your different small supplies. Label them and fill them with your supplies. Arrange them on your shelving units, and they will look great. You can get beautiful and useful storage solutions on DealDash. You’ll find shelves, baskets, bins, and more. Just visit the Home, Garden, and Tools category at this link right here.

DealDash Kids: Encouraging a Love for Reading

DealDash

My kids love reading, and I hope yours do, too. If not, here are some helpful suggestions from DealDash to encourage their love for reading.

In today’s age, it’s easy for kids to be too involved with their TV and their video games. It’s important to try to build your child’s interest in reading. It can help with learning, problem-solving, and building imagination and creativity. Read these helpful suggestions from DealDash to get you started.

Read to Them Daily at a Young Age

First, the best way to instill reading in young children is to start reading them stories at a young age. While young children have a lot of energy, reading a story before bed is a perfect transition to get ready for sleep. When you prepare to read a story, let your children have some say. Ask them if they want a specific story or if they want “a surprise”. Calling the story that you pick a surprise will add to the allure. I don’t know about your kids, but mine typically go for the surprise!

Let Bigger Kids Choose the Books at the Store

Next, letting your children pick the stories that they read is important at all times. In other words, as your child gets older, let them choose books at the store. You’ll find that this can build their interest as they’ll develop a preference for a style or a character. Of course, they might enjoy a few suggestions from mom or dad. My daughter loves to hear about the books I read when I was her age.

Encourage Creativity

Also, something else that I’ve found to be key is encouraging your child. At some point, there will be some benefit to correcting as a child in is reading, but at the earliest stages, let them create their story. My nieces used to love telling a story based on the pictures that they saw over time, they would start to memorize the story that I was reading and then retell it from memory.

I love bringing art into the picture as a way to help encourage reading. I frequently draw a picture and ask my children to write a quick story, or have them do the same for me. It’s something that works for kids who are getting older but offers a connection. The key here is to be sure that what you’re doing doesn’t feel like work. If your child gets bogged down, you can have them tell you a story and then draw the picture and write it out.

DealDash Can Help Organize Kid’s Books

Finally, you can encourage your kids to expand their palette and read new things by keeping the books neat and organized. When you keep them in a pile or a stack on a random shelf they tend to pick whichever one is on the top. By organizing them nicely on their very own bookcase your kids will take pride in their book collection. To find kid’s bookshelves on DealDash, just click here. To see more choices, browse the Home, Garden, and Tools category on DealDash. Click here! Please remember, DealDash is only for adults. The DealDash services are offered and may only be used by persons over the age of 18.

Thanks for Reading

An important note is that a key part of reading that is often forgotten is having an imagination. Always encourage your child’s imagination. It’s like a muscle that needs exercise. Without imagination, a child can’t see the “picture” that comes from the words. Those pictures are what makes a story interesting. Thanks for reading the newest blog!

DealDash Home: Prep Your Home for Chilly Weather

DealDash

Most houses need some winter prep. Read these suggestions from DealDash to get some ideas.

As the temperatures drop and the leaves start to fall, it’s time to prepare for winter. Winter preparations aren’t especially difficult but can take some time. Read this article, and you will get some ideas on how to do winter prep on your home, from DealDash.

Change Your Detector Batteries

First, when you’re looking to keep your home safe, you start indoors. Let’s start by looking at your interior. You should check the detectors in your home. Whether it’s a smoke or carbon monoxide, you should change your batteries when you change your clocks. The clocks “fall back” on November 3. While you’re at it, it’s important to look at the filters in your HVAC system. Changing your filters will improve airflow and air quality.

Stay Warm and Cozy

Moving on to the exterior of your home, it’s important to focus on drafts in your house. Throughout the year, you may find that there are gaps where your windows and doors connect to the house. You can easily seal these gaps for less than $5. Gett instructions and supplies from your local hardware store.

Winterize Your Outdoor Faucets and Gutters

While you’re looking at the exterior gaps, you should also pay close attention to your outdoor faucets. Winterizing is as simple as cutting the water off and turning the faucet to the on position. This will get all the water out so that you don’t have to worry about the pipes freezing. Finally, you should be sure that you clear out your gutters. There’s nothing worse than having to go out on a cold, rainy day to clean your gutters. Some of the leaves have fallen, so now is the perfect timing.

Tidy Your Leaves

Looking at the yard, there are a few key areas to focus on. First, you should be sure to rake and bag your leaves. It doesn’t seem like something important, but it will make the yard look nice and can keep the critters away. Likewise, you should trim your trees. This is a forgotten part of winter prep. By trimming trees away from your house, it makes it much harder for squirrels to get into your attic.
