Most people want to help our environment, but they might not know how. Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash to get you started.

“Save the Earth” and “Go green” might be some phrases that you have heard when thinking about helping the environment, but what do those things really mean? There are hundreds of ways that you can help our environment, some of them easy, some of them hard, and some of them you might already be doing! Read on, and find out more from DealDash.

Don’t Waste Water

This might be something that you do already to save money. Wasting water is bad for both the environment and for your wallet. You can do lots of little things daily to help save on water. Here are some tips:

• If you water your grass, do so in the evening. If you do it in the morning it will just burn off and you’ll have to do it again later.
• Turn off the tap when you’re brushing your teeth.
• If you wash your car, fill up a bucket and get your car wet with a big sponge. Then soap up the car. Don’t turn on the actual hose until it’s time to wash all of the soap off.
• If you garden, try to water your plants every 2nd day if possible instead of every day. You can probably get away with this if it’s 80 degrees or below – or cloudy. Don’t forget that the rain that mother nature provides counts as watering your plants, too! No need to double-water.

Recycle

Are you recycling at home? Go to your city or town’s website and find the waste management section. From there you will be able to find out your town or city’s policy on recycling. After that, then be sure that you are putting all of your can, bottles, and papers into your recycle bin.

Here’s a fun fact from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

If an office building of 7,000 workers recycled all of its office paper waste for a year, it would be the equivalent of taking almost 400 cars off the road.

Get New Lightbulbs

Have you replaced all of your light bulbs yet with CFL light bulbs? Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) last 10 times longer than a standard light bulb and use two-thirds less energy. They cost more initially but will end up saving you money in the long run since they last so much longer.

You can also consider getting LED light bulbs. These last even longer than CFL bulbs, up to 15 years! DealDash carried packs of LED bulbs that can be controlled by your smartphone!
