DealDash Has Fun in the Fall

DealDash

Who doesn’t love fall? There are so many fun things to do as the weather turns cool. Read on for more…

The fall season is quickly approaching.  The leaves are about to turn different colors, the days are getting shorter, and the mornings will be chilly as summer slowly goes away. Although there will no longer be any hot summer days and no daylight into the evening hours, there are still some activities you can do outdoors.  Here are a few ideas, from DealDash.

Go to a Pumpkin Patch

During the fall season, every food that you can imagine has a pumpkin flavor in it such as desserts and coffee.  There are plenty of pumpkin patches that you can go to during the fall season.  Not only do pumpkin patches offer pumpkins, but you can also go on hayrides, corn mazes, and pet animals. Be sure to try the apple cider donuts as well, they are delicious! Take the kids to a pumpkin patch and show them how much fun fall can be. Don’t forget to make a tasty dessert with your pumpkin after you enjoy the festivities.

Have a Bonfire

Cooler weather and short days are the perfect time to have a bonfire. Put some food on the grill and drink some hot apple cider. It’s just not a bonfire without s’mores so don’t forget the marshmallows. The fall time is the perfect time to gather around the fire with your friends and family. A bonfire can be a lot of fun, but please remember to go over the safety rules with everyone, especially the little ones.

Go Camping

Going camping is one of the best activities you can do during the fall time. There are fewer bugs and fewer people – a great combination for camping if you ask me! You can gather ’round the campfire and tell stories and roast marshmallows. The weather is cooler in the fall time, so it is best to bring your warm clothing.

Fall is a great time to go outdoors. These three activities will get you excited for the change in the weather.  If you want something simple to do, just go for a drive and enjoy the scenery while you meander through your town or even the woods.  Doing these activities will help you enjoy the fall time.

DealDash Recipes: Autumnal Beef Stew

Image result for beef stew

As the weather is cooling slightly, it’s a wonderful time to start thinking about fall recipes. Beef stew is one of my favorites.

There is just something to me that says “Winter is coming” with a big hearty bowl of beef stew. It’s delicious, has healthy ingredients, and you can even make a huge batch of it, and freeze it for later use for a night that you don’t feel like cooking this upcoming winter. Pairing beef stew with a delicious home-baked (yes, buying frozen dough and baking it counts as home-baked!) bread makes the perfect meal for a long, chilly night with your family.

Autumnal Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 2 LBS stew beef cut into cubes or small chunks
  • 10 small red potatoes cut into quarters
  • 1 LB baby carrots
  • 1 large red onion, cut into small chunks
  • 1/2 a stick of butter
  • 1 TBS flour
  • 1 Cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp each of: salt, dried parsley flakes, & garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp each of: pepper, celery seed, & dried thyme

Directions:

  1. Place potatoes, carrots and onions in a 5+ quart crock pot/slow cooker
  2. brown your beef cubes in a pan with the butter
  3. After browning beef, add to slow cooker
  4. Stir flour into the beefy pan drippings until mixed, then cook and stir until browned
  5. Add the water, then bring to a boil and cook while stirring for approximately 2 minutes or until thickened
  6. Add in all of your dry ingredients to the pan drippings, mix, then pour over beef in the slow cooker
  7. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours
  8. Serve with crispy buttered bread
  9. Enjoy!

Beef stew is the quintessential dinner for a chilly winter’s day. It can fill you up with its hearty goodness, and make you feel warm and comfortable even in the midst of a winter snowstorm. It’s easy to make, and delicious to eat. Even picky children usually like this beef stew, even if they end up picking out the onions!

If you want to make this recipe you must have a slow cooker. If you don’t have a slow cooker, DealDash has auctions for slow cookers quite frequently. DealDash can offer you a great deal on a slow cooker, and you can have fun bidding, as well. Just click this link here and it will take you to DealDash. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!

Fall is Here! DealDash Does Yard Work

Image result for fall yard work

Fall is upon us, and in most parts of the US that means it’s time for yard work!

No matter if your yard is big or small, if you have even one tree that means you will have some yard work to do this season. Of course, most people who have a yard have more than one there, and therefore more yard work to accomplish. Even if you don’t have any trees, don’t worry, there’s yard work for you to do as well! Here are a few of the common tasks that you should be doing in the fall to prepare for the winter ahead.

  • Raking – of course! When most people think of fall they immediately think of raking the fallen leaves. This is usually a fairly easy task that can even be fun if the whole family gets involved. Go ahead, just in that leaf pile, it will melt away the stresses of the day and add an added bonus will amuse your young children and embarrass your older ones. Win-win!
  • Plant your flower bulbs now for the spring. Yes, now is the optimal time to plant tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. If you plant the bulbs now you can avoid having to do this in the spring. Just be sure that you are planting the freshest bulbs – give them a squeeze to ensure firmness before planting. You can also plant cooler weather grasses, as well.  The most common ones are Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, and fine fescue. These are often packaged up and sold as a blend, which is very convenient if you were planning on planting a mixture anyway.
  • Cover your assets. Be sure to detach your gas tank from your grill and cover it up with a quality grill cover. Also, cover up your patio furniture if possible, and move anything else into your garage or basement such as tiki torches, lanterns, and any kid’s toys you have scattered about.
  • Clean those gutters. If you live in a house with gutters be sure that you have scooped and cleaned them out after most of the leaves have fallen. Clogged gutters can damage your home and cause basement flooding when snow melts, so it’s important to clean your gutters before winter arrives. Just get up on a ladder and scoops those yucky leaves out. After you have scooped, give the gutters a quick rinse with the garden hose.

Those are the basics! Now make yourself a checklist and get to work. DealDash has many things that can help you with your fall maintenance such as rakes, tools, and much more. DealDash Has Fun in Fall

I love fall! It’s my favorite season. There are so many fun things to do in the fall.

Depending on where you live, fall might still be blisteringly hot like summer weather, or it might be starting to cool down a bit. The cooling down a bit is my favorite part, snuggling up under the blankets, getting the hoodies out of the closet, and drinking pumpkin flavored coffee are all extra bonuses to me. Living in New England we have a few foliage advantages over our Western and Southern neighbors, but “Leafing” isn’t the only thing to do in the wonderful months of September, October, and November.

Around my part of the USA, fall is the time for fairs! I can think of about 6 different fairs off of the top of my head that happen in September and October, from the large State Fair all the way down to the tiny county fairs. I love fairs, big and small. When I was younger I enjoyed the rides, but now that I am older I enjoy the fair food, walking around and people watching, seeing my kids enjoy the petting zoos, and going to the exhibits – It’s amazing, the winner of the “Biggest Pumpkin” contest seems to be bigger every year. When someone says “fall”, I think “fair.”

Another great think about fall is Halloween! I am personally not into super-scary movies or TV shows, but I do love a bit of Halloween fun, and dressing the kids up in costumes is always fun. Last year my husband even got into the spirit and let me dress him up for a Halloween/Birthday party as a bottle of Sriracha Sauce! I also love to see all of the little kids dressed up, it’s very funny to see what kids choose for their costumes sometimes. Of course, with Halloween comes candy, I am going to do my best this year to try and stay away from the chocolate!

Finally, to close out the praise for fall is my favorite holiday – Thanksgiving! I love all of the traditional Thanksgiving food, especially my special homemade mashed potatoes. My in-laws host a great Thanksgiving every year with all of the traditional Thanksgiving food, and some delicious extras such as pork buns, fried rice, and homemade spring rolls, yum yum!

As the nights get colder you will probably be spending more time indoors. The fall is a great time to hone your skills on DealDash. DealDash is open 24/7, 365 days a year. When you find yourself sitting at home drinking your apple cider or pumpkin spice lattes, head on over to DealDash and see how much you can save. Good luck and happy bidding!
