DealDash Kids: Winter Break Activities

This week is winter break for kids all around the country. Here are some fun activities to do with your kids, from DealDash.

Winter break is finally here, and you are most likely indoors rather than being outside. Being stuck inside all winter can cause cabin fever especially when children are on winter break. You may have a hard time trying to figure out what activities you can do during the winter. Here are some activities that you can do with kids on winter break, from DealDash.

Winter Arts & Crafts

Is it too cold to go outside? Doing arts and crafts that are winter themed is a fun activity to do during winter break.  You can create paper snowflakes with a paper mache and hang them around the house in different areas. A snowman sun catcher is another great arts & crafts project to do. You can hang it on the window, so you can catch the sunlight as it comes in.

If you check out any craft store you will find many inexpensive kid’s craft kits. Some of these include slime making, paint by number, clay crafts, and more. Your kids will have a blast with these little craft kits during winter break.

Play in the Snow

If you can brave the weather, you can play in the snow with your kids. Have your kids create snow angels, or you can have a snowball fight. You can also create a snowman with your friends by using different materials such as Oreos for the eyes, and carrots for the nose. Playing in the snow is a good way to pass the time during your kid’s winter break.

Build a fort

Building a fort indoors is a classic activity for kids. You can build a fort with your kids by using boxes, blankets, and pillows. Your kids can use their imagination to make the fort more entertaining. Building a fort will keep your child occupied during the winter break.

DealDash Fitness: Sticking to Your Goals

It’s hard to keep up with your fitness goals when you are busy. Here are some tips from DealDash to keep up with your fitness goals when you’re short on time.

When you want to stay fit and healthy it can be difficult to reach your goals when you lead a busy life. You should not worry, however, as there are several things that you can do that will allow you to be able to reach your fitness goals. Additionally, there are tips for keeping the fitness goals that you have set for yourself.

Small Changes Over Time = Goals

You should start by making small changes in your diet. For example, if you typically have a sugary treat after dinner then replace it with something healthy. Some ideas are fruit or even a small smoothie. You can also add one colorful food to each meal that you have like carrots or broccoli. You can also take a small amount of time to meal prep to make sure that you are including healthy food in your diet. Small steps will be simpler to stick with when it comes to meeting your fitness goals.

Make Time for a Little Exercise

The next thing that you need to do is carve out some time in your schedule for exercise. For example, use your lunchtime at work to get in some movement so you are not sitting all day. A quick walk after lunch with co-workers or even alone will be helpful. You can also get up a little earlier to go for a walk or run before breakfast. It is all about getting in more movement during the day and it doesn’t have to be all at once. So make sure to make time some time for exercise all throughout the day, even if it’s just 10 minutes at a time.

Stay Positive

Finally, you need to keep a positive mindset. Don’t set goals for yourself that are not realistic. Keep your goals reachable and you will find that even if you are busy that you will be able to reach whatever fitness goals that you have set for yourself.

Get Exercise Equipment from DealDash

DealDash Looks At Bike Varieties

dealdash bikes

Riding a bike is something that’s fun, useful, and good for your body. There are different types of bikes for different activities. Read on to learn about them.

This might come as a surprise for you, but did you know that there are more than 30 types of bikes? These styles and varieties of bicycles are constantly changing in order to satisfy as many needs as possible. In this article, DealDash will take a look at the most common bikes and their uses.

City Bike

City bikes are the most widespread bikes in the world. They are made for urban use. These bikes offer a comfortable riding position and a simple design. Because of their city function, there are certain features that are necessary for this kind of bikes. These features are good illumination, a baggage rack on the back or a front basket for shopping. There are also some add-on features that aren’t necessary but very useful such as a bell, water bottle holder, and a cell phone holder.

Mountain Bike

Mountain bikes are meant to be used on rough roads or completely off-road. Their design is more compact because the bike needs to be handy and maneuverable in every condition. All mountain bikes will have a gear changer. This is unlike some city bikes, in order for the mountain bike to face even the most difficult hills. Mountain bikes, furthermore, can be divided into two categories. These categories are front suspended and full suspended. The difference in suspension lies in the type of the shock absorber that is needed.

Racing bike

A racing bike does what its name says- it races, fast. This is why it’s better for competitive use. The frame, made of carbon fibers, is lighter than the other types of bikes. The riding position is also very unbalanced towards the handlebars for faster movement. Thus, this is not a comfortable bike to just ride around on.

Cycle tourism bike

A cycle tourism bike is intended to ride for long distances, often with a large quantity of bags. There are two types to choose from, depending on the ground you are traveling on. The first type is made for street routes. The second type is for rough roads and hill climbing. The difference between the two is the size of the wheels and the robustness of the frame. These bikes are not as common in the USA as they are in other countries.

Hybrid bike

A hybrid bike is the combination of a racing bike because it has the same frame, and a cycle tourism bike thanks to the more relaxed riding position.  Now, hybrid bikes are becoming more and more popular.

Finally, if you’re in the market for a bike, then you’re in luck. DealDash has many different types and styles of bike up for auction. After reading this article you should have a much better idea of what type of bike you would like to win on DealDash.

DealDash Talks Metal Recycling

When most people think about recycling the first thing that comes to mind is paper, closely followed by plastic water bottles. Did you know that you can recycle many different types of metal?

Most people are familiar with aluminum can recycling, and amazingly an aluminum can goes from being tossed in your recycling bin to being back on the store shelf in 60 days! That is very helpful for the environment, since the recycling process for an aluminum can is so fast there is no need to mine for new materials. Not only does that save our resources, but it also saves gas and manpower as well that can be used for other things.

If you’re curious about the process of how aluminum metal is recycled, it’s pretty simple. First the different types of metal are sorted by magnets, and the aluminum is shredded, washed, and cut into chips, which are in turn melted down. After they’re melted down and formed into small aluminum bricks they are ready to be made into something new! Usually more cans, but they can also be made into aluminum foil,  bike frames, staples, nails, computer parts, golf clubs, ladders, mailboxes, faucets, pots and pans, and even car rims and car trim. It’s amazing how many everyday items are made out of aluminum. Now doesn’t that make you want to recycle your aluminum cans?

Did you know that you can recycle metal products other than just regular aluminum cans that food came in?  You can’t just throw them in the bin, but goods containing precious metals like appliances and phones can often be recycled as well. You just need to find your local scrap yard or e-cycler to get them on the road to being recycled. Or better yet, if they are still working, why not donate them to a charity store? Some of the bigger thrift stores won’t take appliances and computers, but the smaller non-corporate shops as well as the church second-hand shops usually will. Just be sure to call before you bring in anything large to make sure that they have room for it. Saving the Earth while helping other humans – it’s a win-win situation.

Speaking of winning, how about heading over to DealDash? They have plenty of products that have been made from aluminum such as bikes, pots and pans, and mail boxes! Just click this link right here and it will take you to DealDash, look around and see how much you can save. Good luck and happy bidding everyone!
