DealDash Cleans – Make it Quick!

DealDash

Most people don’t enjoy cleaning, so let’s get it out of the way! DealDash is here with some tips to clean things quickly yet effectively.

Let’s face it, after taking care of the family, homeschooling, and possibly even working at home, no parent wants to spend a huge amount of their free time cleaning the house. This is especially true nowadays with the rest of the things that you simply have to do. Here are some speed cleaning tips to assist busy parents to get their home looking great in no time flat. Read on for some suggestions from DealDash.

Break Up the Tasks

First, if you have large tasks that need to be done, don’t fret. Simply break up the chores into steps that are done over a few days. You’ll find that it appears that the work goes much faster. This is especially true if some of the steps can be handed out as chores to one of the kids or your spouse! Big tasks often get ignored and set aside when people are overwhelmed with too many things to do during the day. The longer you ignore a cleaning task the worse it becomes. So don’t ignore it, just break it up into smaller tasks.

Make a Schedule

Second, everyone has reoccurring cleaning tasks that need to be done. Developing a checklist of things that are done daily and weekly is a good way to be sure they are done and not overlooked. Just come up with a schedule including each task and stick to it. You’ll find that your home is much cleaner. You can download many different free apps to help you with this task. You can also use old fashioned pen and paper – it’s up to you!

Attempt to Clean as You Go

Next, if you’re able, cleaning as you go is actually the simplest speed cleaning tip. One of the best cleaning tips that I have ever read was to give the bathroom a very quick cleaning once each day after using it. Keep a box of disposable cleaning wipes in a handy spot. I just keep mine on top of the toilet under my tissue box.

After using the bathroom then take a cleaning wipe and wipe down the faucet and then the sink. Next, get another wipe and use it on the counter and the outside of the toilet. You can finish up with a quick swipe of the toilet brush and ta-daa! Your bathroom is clean! You can schedule a more in-depth cleaning for another time, but this daily cleaning will help keep things sparkling for much longer. Bonus tip: If you have multiple bathrooms, use a different one each time so they all get a daily “quick cleaning”.

DealDash Cleans With Vinegar

DealDash

Many cleaning supplies are out of stock due to the current circumstances. However, vinegar is a great cleaner. Read this article from DealDash and get the details.

Vinegar is an excellent cleaner, and the best part is that since it’s a food product it’s totally safe to use on kitchen surfaces. Stores might be out of most cleaning products right now, but just about every store that I have visited has large jugs of vinegar. Get the tips and tricks from this new DealDash article.

Cleaning the Kitchen

There are many surfaces in the kitchen that can be cleaned with vinegar. The best way to use vinegar to clean the kitchen is to use a 1:1 ratio with vinegar and water. You can even make a spray bottle with this solution and use it to clean your microwave, fridge, cutting board, and more! Simply spray and wipe, there’s no need to rinse after. You might not like the sour smell of the vinegar, but that will go away after the surface has dried. You can feel confidant that you are using a cleaner that’s safe for your family when you clean your kitchen with vinegar.

Cleaning the Bathroom

You can easily clean all of the dirty surfaces in your bathroom with vinegar. You can clean the toilet, tub, sink, and even the floor with vinegar! You can use the same 1:1 solution with water that you used in the kitchen, or you can even use a 100% vinegar solution if you need to remove tough stains and soap scum. If you need even stronger cleaning power, warm up the vinegar in the microwave for 2 minutes. Be careful when it comes out, it will be hot.

Other Items

There are lots of other ways that you can use vinegar to help you clean your home. However, be sure that you always check the cleaning instructions of each material and use the recommended products. Also, following the tips in this blog is always at your own risk, and be sure to do your own research.

For example, you can use your spray bottle of vinegar and water to clean your windows. Just give them a squirt with the 1:1 solution and then wipe with a paper towel, sheet of newspaper, or a lint-free cloth.

You can also use vinegar when you do your laundry. Simply replace half of the detergent that you typically use with a 1/2 cup of vinegar. You can also replace your fabric softener with vinegar! Simply add a cup of vinegar to the final rinse.

DealDash Spring Cleaning: Your Car

DealDash

The weather is getting much nicer outside, so let’s take our Spring Cleaning series outside to the car. Read this article for some excellent suggestions for cleaning your car.

If you’ve been following our blog, you know that we’ve got a Spring Cleaning series going on. We’ve covered most of your house, so we thought we’d focus on another area that you spend a ton of time: your car.

A 2018 survey found that the average American is commuting about 54 minutes round trip for work. By the time you add family, errands, and activities in, you may be in the car for 10+ hours per week! You can make a lot of mess in your car; especially if you need to pick up food or stop at a convenience store in between activities. Of course, you probably aren’t in your car nearly as much these days. However, everything must be clean. Read on for some tips from DealDash.

Banish the Trash

Trash is your biggest enemy. Nothing makes your car into a nightmare more than having random bags, bottles, and cans everywhere. So, you should start by emptying the trash. When I do this, I’m amazed at how many papers have found their way to the car floor. I typically start by bringing a trash can out to my car to make things easier. After you’ve cleaned out the trash, keep a grocery store bag in your car to avoid having the same problem in the future.

Give Your Car a Fresh Scent

Make your car smell clean. Over time, especially during the winter, your car can develop some unpleasant odors. After you’ve gotten the clutter out, focus on that stagnant air. I typically start by vacuuming to get the smells out of your fabric. Next, use some Febreeze or Lysol spray to get rid of the odors that are still trapped in there. Finally, I add an air freshener to really make it smell nice. You can use the “old school” models that look like a tree, but I prefer the vent clip-ons. I think they’re more effective and your AC can really blow the fragrance around.

Focus on the Windows

If you’re still feeling a little dingy, consider grabbing a spray bottle of some type of glass cleaner. You can use this on your dash, your windows, and the windshield. It will make your car sparkle and you don’t need to worry about having a bunch of different chemicals for each part of your car.

DealDash Has Cars!!

Finally, if your car still seems dingy no matter what you have done to clean it, you might want to start thinking about an upgrade. Did you know that DealDash has cars?! Yes! DealDash Spring Cleaning: The Office

DealDash

If you have been working from home these past few weeks you have been spending a lot of time in your home office. Here are a few quick ways to clean and freshen it, from DealDash.

If you’ve been following our series, you know that we’ve got a focus on Spring Cleaning. We thought that it may be a good idea to focus on your home office given that so many people are working from home right now. Whether your office is something you’re using for work, school, or just the area that you typically keep your computer, there are a few universal ideas we’d like to offer.

First – Top of the Desk

Start with the top of your desk. If you’re anything like me, your desk ends up being a “catch-all”  where you just throw stuff. Start by cleaning the top of your desk off, dusting, and putting things into stacks. You can organize the stacks such as a pile for mail, a pile of things that need to go back into their respective places in the house, and a pile of things for the trash.

Second – Paperwork

Next, find the paperwork that needs organizing. We always seem to develop a log jam of paperwork. So, pull out the stuff that isn’t organized, and divide into stacks. Rather than the typical “keep, donate, trash” you should consider dividing based on either month or “subject”. By subject, we mean that you should put your bills together, your reports together, your work stuff should go in one pile, and school stuff should go in another. Either option works, but it’s important to have a consistent technique.

Third – General De-Cluttering

After finishing with the paperwork, focus on a general de-cluttering. Get rid of old paperwork in general (the IRS recommends keeping records for 7 years). Get rid of that dead plant, condense all those paper clips into one spot. Make sure your bookshelf is organized in whatever order you like. I”m a big fan of having different sizes and shapes so that it adds a bit more “texture” when you look at it. You may prefer to organize by subject, author, or genre.

Final Step – Computer Files

Finally, consider organizing your computer. Odds are, you’ve accumulated some files over the years. Run a de-frag and look for the files that you don’t use any more. Consider deleting old programs that are out of date and look at your download folder. Do you really need that popular meme from 2014 any more?

DealDash’s Spring Cleaning Series: Baby’s Bedroom

DealDash

Welcome back to DealDash’s newest series – Spring Cleaning! Today’s new article is all about cleaning the baby’s bedroom.

Depending on what part of the country you’re in, spring is either coming or it has already arrived. It doesn’t seem like winter ever showed its head, but it’s still time for spring cleaning. The next part of our series is addressing the baby’s room. Read on for some super suggestions from DealDash.

Look for Unused Pieces

It’s a room that is often forgotten, but with a baby constantly growing, it can get overcrowded pretty quickly. First, start by getting rid of anything that you obviously don’t need anymore. Is your baby in pull-ups now? Maybe you should get rid of that changing table. Don’t use that baby monitor anymore? Donate it! Never sit in the rocking chair? Relocate it, store it, or donate it.

They Grow so Quickly…

Next, start making piles of outgrown clothing. Your baby probably has plenty of clothes that are too small. Figure out what you can donate or sell, what needs to be thrown away, and what you could repurpose into rags to use for cleaning.

Too Many Outgrown Toys

After clothes, you can start focusing on the toys that you’ve got. If there’s something that you’re baby never plays with, it’s okay to donate or pass to a friend’s baby. We understand that someone put time, effort, and thought into that toy, but if it’s just taking up space and collecting dust, why not donate it so that another child can actually enjoy it?

Maybe you’ve got some toys that are still a little too advanced for your child. Again, there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s probably safe to put those toys away in a closet or even in the attic for a bit. You can pull them back out when you’re ready.

Focus on Organization

Finally, focus on trying to get organized again. There is probably a lot going on and things in the baby’s room may have gotten a little chaotic. Take a few minutes to figure out what’s working and what isn’t. Shelves may be great. I typically prefer using drawers or boxes. It lets me toss things in the right place without taking as much time to make sure it looks perfect.
