Finally, this might be an unexpected tip, but get some help! As a stay-at-home-mom with 3 kids, I find myself struggling with all of the cooking, cleaning, laundry, appointments, and everything else. Doing all of these things for 5 people (and 2 cats) can get very overwhelming. Ergo, I decided to distribute the tasks to the kids according to their abilities. At first, it felt like even more work to have the kids help. However, after showing them how to do the tasks a few times they were able to help. This has given me a huge energy boost, as well as being a great family bonding experience. No one likes to do the cleaning, so if we all do it together it will be done faster.

DealDash Makes: Home Made Energy Drinks

If you’re the kind of person who loves energy drinks, I’m sure that you realize that they are quite bad for your health.

Here are a few alternatives for you to get the energy you crave from a drink, without all of the chemicals that are terrible for you. They might not have fancy cans with fun designs, but they are better for your health, and taste great, too!

Lemon-Honey Energy

Ingredients:

  • hot water
  • 1 1/2 – 2 tsp honey (to taste)
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 inch of fresh ginger root
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp tumeric

Directions:

  • Using a garlic press, squeeze the juices from the ginger into your cup. You might find it easier to slice the ginger into a few pieces and squeeze each of them into the cup.
  • Squeeze the lemon into your cup as well
  • Add in your spices.
  • Fill your cup with hot water
  • Add in honey until you are satisfied with the taste
  • You can either drink this hot, or chill it in the fridge.

The reason that this drink can give you energy is because each of the ingredients has a job to do – The lemon is important because it has an alkaline forming effect on your body that can help your body maintain a healthy pH level, which is critical for staying on top of your game. Ginger speeds up metabolism, tastes great, and even helps with nausea. Tumeric speeds up metabolism as well as energy levels. Cardamom is known to increase circulation and improve energy. And finally, honey is a delicious sugar that is good for your body, and can also provide you with energy.

Berry-Citrus Frozen Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 5 mint leaves

Directions:

  • Crush the mint leaves with a mortar and pestle
  • Blend all of the ingredients together in a blender
  • Enjoy your drink

Berries are full of natural sugars which don’t cause a “crash and burn” because they slowly release the energy throughout the whole day. Combine them with lime juice and mint for a fresh twist, which is a delicious pick-me-up in the afternoon when you are lagging.
