DealDash Pets: Choosing a Great Dog Food

Choosing a great dog food is important for your pup’s health. Here are some tips from DealDash to help you choose a yummy and healthy food for your best friend.

It’s easy to pick up a bag of dog food. Individuals often simply pick the first canine food bag they see at the store. It’s easy to neglect the value of pet dog food but it is vital to choose the right one for your canine. Here are some tips from DealDash to ensure that you pick the best food for your pup.

Food and Water are the Basics

To keep your pet dog healthy he requires a lot of fresh water and ought to be fed excellent quality pet food. This food needs to be given in amounts just right to satisfy his energy requirements. Simply look at the back of the bag for advised feeding quantities for your dog’s weight and age.

Choosing a Pup Food

Major dog food companies attempt to offer balanced proportions of minerals and vitamins for optimum benefit for your puppy or dog. You might see that numerous brands of pet dog food have almost identical labels. However, a credible dog food company will offer an explanation for each supplement and how it benefits your pet dog. Always read the label to see exactly what vitamins, proteins, and minerals are being provided to your pet.

Choose Meat-Based

Studies have actually revealed that the main ingredient in canine food needs to be a meat-based protein, not grains such as corn meal or flour gluten meal. According to many scientific studies better quality meat-based dog food results in a much healthier coat. Pet-nutrition experts agree that the best canine food is made from human-grade active ingredients like meat and vegetables.

Ask Your Vet for Recommendations

You should ask your veterinarian before choosing a dog food to feed your dog or young puppy. He will understand your canine’s dietary needs and you will discover that veterinary offices and feed stores often sell outstanding and natural dog food. However, it’s often cheaper to order your dog’s food online rather than purchasing it at the vet’s office.

Merry DealDash Christmas, Enjoy Winter

Image result for first day of winter

Merry Christmas from DealDash!! The first official day of winter was a few days ago, here are some winter-related thoughts.

Winter definitely isn’t my favorite season, however, I still think it’s a wonderful time and cozy season for creativity and the New Year’s Day always brings new beginnings. Whether you’re inside huddling with your pets next to the fireplace or out playing with your kids in the snow, there’s a whole winter season’s worth of inspiration all around us, and there’s always something exciting happening or something beautiful to look at if we really try. Here are some ideas to help you get through the winter season.

Invest in the correct equipment. This is very important if you live in a cold snowy climate. Be sure that you have a good sturdy shovel (or two!) and if you have a medium to large sized driveway you will need to get a snow-blower. When you have the right equipment it’s easy to get rid of the snow and go on with your day. DealDash has some great snow equipment that comes up for auction.

Don’t forget the smaller winter supplies as well. Along with the bigger equipment, you need to keep a stock of salt/sand, ice scrapers, and of course warm gloves, hats, and scarves around for when you need them. Be sure to check DealDash for these small supplies as well.

Stock up on non-perishables at the supermarket, and keep your fridge and freezer reasonably full of things that your family likes for meals. Snow is much nicer when seen from inside, wrapped in a blanket, sipping on hot chocolate; to get the most enjoyment out of a snowstorm stay inside! You’ll be glad that your pantry and fridge are stocked when a storm hits. You’ll be able to avoid that last minute rush to the supermarket, and be able to stay indoors.

Keep your electronics charged up. Put fresh batteries in your flashlights, keep candles and a lighter handy, and make sure your cell phones and tablets are all charged up. Power outages happen when ice and snow weigh down the utility wires and poles, and they aren’t always resolved quickly. Be fully prepared, and for extra preparedness get a couple external cell phone chargers in case you need a little extra power for your phone if the electricity happens to go out. Check DealDash for flashlights, chargers, and external cell phone chargers, they come up for auction and you can get a great deal.

DealDash Talks: Rescued Pets

If you’re thinking of getting a new pet, please consider getting a rescued pet instead of purchasing one. It’s the kinder solution.

When you are preparing to get a new pet there are various places to get them – online, the newspaper, a pet store, a rescue group, a friend, or an animal shelter. All of these are viable options, of course, but the kindest thing that you could do is adopt a homeless pet from a shelter or rescue group.

If you’re wondering why you should adopt a rescued pet instead of buying one from the pet store, the biggest reason is that you’ll be saving their life! It’s sad to think about, but every year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States. It’s because too many pets come into shelters and there is limited space.

Luckily for some animals, there are places called “No-Kill” shelters, and they are exactly that – they don’t euthanize any of the animals that they get, with a few exceptions. If they receive an animal that is very old and sick and doesn’t have a very good quality of life due to those factors they might euthanize him, or if an animal has shown to be aggressive towards humans. However, that isn’t usually the case, so most of the animals that they get live long lives in their kennels, until someone adopts them.

It’s great for the animal that is being adopted, and it’s great for you as well. There are many health benefits to owning a pet. Cats can lower your stress levels by being a low-key cuddle partner, and dogs can help you get more active with daily walks. Some of the other benefits of adopting a dog or cat from a rescue group or a shelter are:

  • Most either come spayed or neutered already, or come with a certificate to have it done
  • All come with vaccinations
  • Some are even microchipped
  • The cost is significantly less, though most shelters and groups have a small fee to adopt
  • You’ll be saving your pets life, as well as opening up another spot at the shelter to save another animal’s life

Doesn’t that make you want to adopt a pet from a shelter or a rescue? If you need pet supplies check DealDash first. DealDash has dog, cat, and small animal supplies for auction. DealDash Decodes Dogs

Do you ever wonder what your dog is thinking? Let DealDash help you figure out your best friend’s thoughts.

“Whoof yelp yipyipyip!” Do you have any idea what that means? Of course not! Luckily, dogs try to communicate with humans in a variety of ways. When we are examining dog communication, it can include facial expression, eyebrows, eye contact, vocalizations (as mentioned above), and body posture, which includes the dog’s torso, legs, and tail movements. Humans also try to communicate with dogs, as you may well know. We use vocalization, hand signals, body posture and petting. Here are some of the more common things that your dog is trying to communicate.

Raised hackles – When you see a dog with his hair standing on end along the back of his spine it usually means that he is anxious, upset, or afraid. However, if it happens when he seems otherwise playful, then he is just trying to get you to play.

Tail wagging – Most people automatically think that a wagging tail means a happy pup, and they would be right if the tail is loose and relaxed. If the tail is wagging while straight out and stiff, it might be best to back away slowly, because he’s angry.

Play bow – The hint is in the name! If your dog bows down in front of you, or darts away and comes back and bows then he wants you to play with him. If you’re not sure what the play bow looks like, I will include a picture below.

Trembling – The obvious answer might be that your pup is cold if he is trembling, especially if it’s winter. However, trembling can also mean that he’s anxious or afraid.

Eye contact – The two main forms of eye contact are: One, an eye-to-eye stare which means he is trying to assert his dominance over you, threaten you, or warning you that it might be best to back away slowly. And two, when his eyes are turned away to avoid direct eye contact, refusing to meet your gaze, this means he is in submission to you.

Licking – Licking can be a friendly greeting, of course, but it can also signal submission or nervousness as well.

Yawning – When a dog yawns it can mean he’s tired, but it can also mean that he’s nervous. Dogs often yawn to comfort themselves and use it as a calming method.
