DealDash Teacher Gifts That Won’t Break the Bank

DealDash

There are lots of people to buy for this holiday season, don’t forget your child’s teacher. Here are some quick, easy, and cheap ideas from DealDash.

No one has more of an impact on our children’s lives than their teachers. Teachers spend more time with our kids than anyone else. As the holidays come, it’s nice to remind teachers how important they are and how much we appreciate them. That doesn’t mean that you need to go broke doing it. Here are some ideas from DealDash that won’t break the bank.

Pens and Stationary on DealDash

To begin with, you can get a wonderful gift for your kid’s teacher on DealDash. There are stationary and pens a-plenty up for auction. These pens are brand name and high-quality. You will find single pens as well as sets of 4, 10, and 20. This is helpful if your child has more than one teacher in their classroom. DealDash also has notebooks, journals, and other office supplies available. Just click here and see the school and office supplies up for bid today.

Homemade Recipe Box

First, try something that adds a little family tradition and usefulness to their lives. Take some of your favorite recipes, put them on card stock and put them in a box. It’s something that literally gives some of your family back to the teacher and it can benefit them. And bonus – your child can draw the teacher a picture on the box as well!

Personalized Reusable Bags

If you’d like to gift something that’s useful, look at reusable tote bags. Teachers are always trying to carry around supplies, and a tote bag is a perfect way to do it. You can let your child add a little flair of their own whether they paint it or just add some foam lettering. It’s the perfect mix of unique and useful. Also, be sure to get a tote that is on the sturdy side, all of those books and papers are heavy.

Chalkboard Flowerpot

It’s another DIY option up next! Grab an every day terracotta style flower pot and paint it with chalkboard paint. Some people even paint the top “band” to look like a ruler. This is something simple that can add to the décor in any home or classroom. It’s the perfect gift to use at school or to take home.

Coffee on Me

I’m a big coffee drinker so a simple reusable coffee mug or cup (like a Tervis) is something I frequently buy for people. Try to find some of the interests that your child’s teacher has and match a coffee mug to their taste. These can be sports, Harry Potter, etc. I typically throw in a gift card for Starbucks or Dunkin’ as well. It’s something simple that can offer a bit of a pick-me-up on a rainy day.

DealDash Kids: Choosing a School

Have you chosen where your children will go to school next year? If not, here are some tips from DealDash for choosing a school for your child.

When it comes to your child’s education you need to make sure you are choosing the right school for them to attend. You want to make sure that you choose a school that is going to meet the needs of your child. Here are some tips for doing just that, from DealDash.

What’s Your Budget?

You need to select a school that will fit your budget. You need to consider things like if there a tuition to attend the school and how much the extracurricular activities that your child will want to participate in. Making sure that you are able to afford a school is a very important part of your choice.

Location, Location, Location

The location of the school is also very important. You want to make sure you do not have to spend all of your time driving your child to and from school. You need to learn about things like is there a bus route that will pick your child up and what time they would be picked up and dropped off.

School Size

The size of the school and safety. These are two more things that you need to consider when choosing a school for your child. Many parents want a smaller school setting for their children while also making sure that their children will be safe while they are attending school.

Think About Extracurricular Activities

The academics that are offered as well as the extracurricular activities that can be participated in are two more important parts of choosing a school for your child. You need to be sure to understand the academic process of the school and make sure that there are activities going on after school that your child would want to participate in.

DealDash Makes: A Teacher Gift

Depending on where you are located school should be over for the summer soon. With the last day of school right around the corner we should make a teacher gift.

My son is in first grade, and his last day of school is coming up in just a couple of weeks. He has a hard time at school, and the teacher and assistants do an excellent job of following his IEP and assisting him in any way possible that helps him be able to learn like an average child. For this caring and concern I think that it would be nice to have him make his teacher a gift for the last day of school. Do you know of a special teacher that could use a little recognition?

The teacher gift that I want to make with my son is inspired by the “diaper cake” phenomenon that has come about for presenting to new Mommies at their baby shower. This gift can be on the cheaper side, mid range, or more expensive depending on where you purchase the supplies to make the “cake”. Here are the supplies needed:

  • Small (square) box of tissues
  • 1 – 6″ round (approx 3″ tall) box w/lid
  • 1 – 8″ round (approx 3″ tall) box w/lid
  • 1 – 10″ round (approx 5″ tall) box w/lid
  • 12″ cake board
  • 15 2 packs glue sticks in their packaging
  • 3 yds ribbon
  • 16 boxes 24 ct crayons
  • 10 – 1 subject notebooks
  • 4 – packs of note cards
  • Hot Glue gun, hot glue sticks

Instructions:

  1. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the larger round box to the cake board
  2. Using the hot glue gun, take your largest round box and hot glue the crayon boxes around it, then hot glue the ribbon around the boxes
  3. Using your hot glue gun, take your medium round box and hot glue the medium round box on top of the larger round box
  4. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the glue sticks around the medium round box, then hot glue the ribbon around the glue sticks packaging
  5. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the smallest box on top of the medium round box
  6. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the notebooks around it, then hot glue the ribbon around the notebooks
  7. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the tissue box on top of the smallest round box
  8. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the packages of note cards around the box, then hot glue ribbon around the note cards
  9. Using the hot glue gun, hot glue the remaining packages of crayons around the top of the tissue box, then hot glue the ribbon around the crayon boxes

That’s it! Whew! It sounds a lot more complicated than it really is, it’s a quick project that you and your child or grandchild can do together to make their teacher smile. The great thing about this school supply cake is not only is it awesome looking, it’s an extremely useful gift that they will be able to get a lot of uses out of in the following year and be able to save a little money by not having to buy quite so many supplies.

Of course, if you aren’t really the crafty sort, that’s OK, too! Just head on over to DealDash and you will find lots of nice items that would make a great teacher gift for the end of the school year, such as luxurious candles, gift cards, and so much more!
