What’s your DealDash superstition?

Do you have a DealDash superstition? When I was a kid, a rabbit’s foot was all the rage when it came to good luck. And even though I never did understand how good luck could be equated to carrying a lopped off animal’s foot fashioned into a kitschy keychain, it certainly was a readily available and a staple item in men’s pockets and at Bingo halls all across America in the 70s. And even though I say I’m not superstitious, I have to admit that when it comes to DealDash, I am partial to doing things a certain way.

When it comes to bidding, I prefer to bid ahead of time using Bid Buddy. This lets me see where in the pack I’m coming into the auction. For example, if I come into the auction as the eighth bidder or less, I immediately get a sense that I’ve got a better chance of winning. It’s funny because this is purely based on prior bidding experience and results. The funny thing is, the number eight isn’t even my lucky number!

Of course, this could purely be a superstition as many folks have jumped in on the bidding, causing me to lose confidence and back out of the auction. Again, factors determining if this will be my decision will be based on whether or not the jumping bidder is one of those experienced bidders or not. You know who they are and so do I, and for me, I’d rather not waste my bids trying to go up against them. I’ll just back off and try again after they’ve won.

A lot of times when I’m jumping into the auction after it’s started, I’ll watch closely, but I’ll usually call on those lucky numbers again and jump in at 26, 44, 66 or 84 cents or variations or multiples of those numbers (which all represent important dates or years for me). Has this strategy every proven anything other than my own quirkiness for important numbers when DealDashing? No, not really. But in my mind there is significance and with that comes the hope of a little extra luck. While some say there’s a certain science to winning, I’d like to think it’s more luck than not.

That being said, I secretly wonder if there are other DealDashers like me who have special numbers they bring into play while bidding or if they use other superstitious tactics and good luck charms they feel help them get the win. Do you use trinkets and good luck charms, have a special ritual you do before or during the auction or bring out lucky numbers when placing bids—or do you have a lucky rabbit’s foot in your pocket?

As always, good luck and happy bidding on DealDash!
