DealDash Cooks: Easy Apple Pie
If your kitchen is anything like mine, it’s overrun with apples lately! Here is a quick and easy apple pie recipe that is delicious and won’t take too much time to prepare.
Do you like apple pie? Who doesn’t? The best apple pie is homemade, of course, but who has hours to make dough, slice apples, and all of the other little chores that it takes to make a delicious homemade apple pie? Here is a quick and easy recipe that tastes just as good as a classic apple pie.
Ingredients:
1 Box Pillsbury™ refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box (This is the big shortcut – the crust!)
- 8 Medium apples – peeled and thinly sliced (Another time-saving tip is to use the mandoline to slice your apples. That way it’s fast as well as completely uniform in thickness.
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch (less than 1/8 teaspoon) ground cloves
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Place 1 pie crust in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate. Press firmly against side and bottom.
- In large mixing bowl, mix filling ingredients
- Spoon ingredient mixture into crust-lined pie plate.
- Top with second crust, wrapping the excess top crust under bottom crust edge, pressing edges together to seal
- Firmly squeeze edges all around, then make small slices in the top crust to vent
- Bake 45 minutes, covering the outside edge of the crust with 3-inch wide strips of foil after first 20 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning.
- Cool before serving.
- Enjoy!
Apple pie is perfect for anytime, but I especially love apple pie in the fall with apples picked fresh from the orchard. For a little added “zip” in your apple pies, try using Granny Smith apples for 1/2 of the 8 apples. This apple pie is so yummy that I always get requests for it when it’s bake sale time!
