DealDash Family Fun Day at the Local Farm

It’s the perfect time to go to your local farm. Make memories, pick pumpkins, and eat delicious apple cider donuts, there’s literally no downside.

October is one of my favorite times to visit our local farm. The farm transforms into a fall wonderland as the air gets crisp and the leaves turn multi-colored. It’s the perfect place to spend a day with the family, enjoying the activities that celebrate all the best parts of autumn. From pumpkin patches to warm apple cider donuts, here are some of the must-do activities when visiting a farm in October. Read on for some fall fun, from DealDash.

Pumpkin Picking and Decorating on the Farm

First, just for starters, the highlight of any October visit is pumpkin picking. Our local farm has rows and rows of pumpkins, all shapes and sizes just waiting to be chosen! The kids love running through the patch, searching for the perfect pumpkin to take home. It’s also fun to let them pick their own, whether they go for the classic round ones or the quirky, misshapen gourds. Once you bring them home, decorating pumpkins is an easy and creative project that keeps the fall fun going.

Additionally, some farms even offer pumpkin painting stations, which are great for younger kids who aren’t quite ready for carving. All the supplies are right there, so you don’t have to worry about the cleanup. The kids can get as creative as they want with their designs, and it’s entertaining to watch their little works of art come to life! If you want to give pumpkin painting a try at home, you need to be prepared. Check out the site Glued to My Crafts for ideas on getting started.

Getting Lost in a Corn Maze

Next, a visit to the farm wouldn’t be complete without getting lost in a corn maze! This has always been a favorite activity with my kids and even my husband, too! There’s something adventurous about wandering through tall, rustling corn stalks, trying to figure out the path. Also, some farms have mazes that are perfect for younger kids, while others have larger, more challenging versions for older kids and adults. It’s a great way for the family to work together and burn off some of that excited energy after the pumpkin picking.

Savoring Seasonal Farm Treats

Finally, one of my favorite parts of visiting the farm in October is the fall treats! From freshly made apple cider donuts to warm cups of cider, the farm stands are filled with seasonal goodies. There’s something magical about sipping hot cider on a cool day, surrounded by the sights and smells of fall.

We also love to grab a bag of locally grown apples to take home. You can even find farms that offer apple picking, which is another fun activity for the kids. A basket of fresh-picked apples is perfect for making pies, crisps, or just enjoying as a healthy snack in their lunch bags.

DealDash Has Kitchen Tools for Fall Cooking

So, if you’ve been to the farm, I’m sure you picked up some apples. Apples are such a great ingredient for desserts as well as savory dishes such as roasted chicken with apples and sage or an apple and cheddar grilled cheese. October is a great time to pick up a few items for your kitchen such as a slow cooker or air fryer, too. The great news is that DealDash often has these two small appliances up for bid. So be sure to visit DealDash when you’re ready to add another small appliance to your kitchen’s arsenal.
