You might think that you need to use harsh chemicals to clean your carpets. However, there are two chemical solutions you should not use. Let DealDash help.

Unlike most other materials or fabrics, the carpet can handle filth without showing it. This is why you have the impression that it might be clean and you don’t have to clean it. Take a better look at its fibers, and you will find that the top layer is covered with dust and small spots of dirt. This gives an untidy look to your carpet. This is when you need to clean it, and fast. Some chemical cleaners might look harmless, but they should never be used in this process.

Laundry Detergent

Washing your clothes and cleaning your carpet are two very different things. This is why you can’t use the same chemical solution for both. The detergent can give excellent results when it is used on clothes, but it does not have the same effect when it is used on your carpet. Most of the time, the detergent is going to make a lot of foam. You will have to flush this foam with water.

When you increase the amount of water, you risk “flooding” the fibers of your carpet. Thus,  pushing the dirt inside. If this was not enough trouble, you risk keeping your carpet wet for several days. This gives excellent conditions for moisture to gather and mold to grow.

Bleach

Even if you have a light colored carpet, avoid using bleach on it at any cost. It won’t clean the dirty spots, especially if we’re talking about filthy spots of cooking oil or grease, wine, sauces, or any other sticky liquids such as soda or juice. Instead, you can find your carpet a bit discolored and “bleached out” on the places that you applied bleach – really, what else did you expect?

How Well Do You Know Your Carpet?

Now that you understand that you can’t postpone cleaning your carpet any longer, you must make a decision on how to clean it. Which alternative will you choose: either you clean it on your own or you call a carpet cleaning company to do the job.

If you do call the carpet cleaning company, know that you didn’t make a bad choice. The detergent they use is going to dissolve into your carpet fibers, and later it will be cleaned with a special vacuum cleaner.  This way, your carpet will dry fast, and the colors will be refreshed.
