DealDash’s Top 5 Winter Beauty Products
Summer and winter beauty are very different. Here are 5 must-have products for winter to keep you looking your best in the cold weather.
In the summer you can just stick your hair in a ponytail, put on some sunscreen, and head out the door. In the winter, your hair and skin need some extra-special care to stay looking their best. Here are 5 must-have products to keep you looking beautiful through the long cold winter.
1 – Moisturizer. Moisturizer for your face is an absolute must for the winter weather. In addition to moisturizer for your face, I would also suggest a thicker lotion than you use in the summer for your body. If you don’t use moisturizer on your face and a thick lotion on your body in the winter your skin will get dry, itchy, and flaky. You can even get tiny micro-tears in your skin that are painful and slow to heal. Do your skin a favor and use moisturizer on your face and thick lotion on your body. Remember, even though it’s winter, be sure that you buy moisturizer with SPF in it to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.
2 – Lip balm. Lip balm is very important in the winter. Lip balm is just like lotion…for your lips! If you don’t like the feel or smell of traditional Chapstick or Carmex, you can try one of the newer EOS or Burt’s Bees lip balms. Remember, just like the rest of your skin, your lips and the skin around your lips can also get tiny micro-tears in your skin that are painful and slow to heal.
3 – Hair dryer and flat-iron. Your hair dryer is very important in the winter. In the summer it’s fine to let your hair air dry – it’s healthier for your hair, saves time, and also saves electricity. However, in the winter it’s important to dry your hair before you go outside so you don’t get sick. I know, I know, germs make you sick, not cold air – but if you go outside with wet hair your defenses are down and you’re more likely to fall prey to a winter bug. I also suggest using a flat-iron in the winter after you have dried your hair with the hair dryer – the winter is a terrible time for static, and I find that I have less static in my hair after I have used my flat-iron.
4 – Face mask. No, I don’t mean a sleeping mask! I suggest a lovely, nourishing face mask for the winter weather. You can get one that you smooth on your skin and then wash off, or you can get one of the super-popular Korean or Japanese paper face masks that you wear, then take off and throw away. These are great, I find them to be easier and much less messy than the kind you smooth on.
5 – Whitening strips/whitening toothpaste. There’s nothing nicer than a brilliant white smile in the winter. It makes you look healthy and happy, even when the temperatures are low. Use the whitening strips, and then keep up your new look with your whitening toothpaste.
