DealDash Cooks: Favorite Cold Drinks

As much as I love hot tea and coffee in the winter the summer has an amazing drink selection as well. Here are a few recipes for delicious drinks your family will love.

Vietnamese Sparkling Limeade – This is definitely my top pick for drink of the summer season. It’s delicious, refreshing, and not very high in calories.

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (I like the “Sugar in the Raw” type)

  • 1 handful of fresh mint taken off the stems

DealDash Cooks: Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry Shortcake is my husband’s favorite dessert. Lucky for me strawberries are in season and are on sale everywhere.

Strawberry shortcake is not only delicious but also one of the lighter and marginally healthier desserts that you can have. There are a few different ways that you can make strawberry shortcake. The easiest way, of course, is to get the premade cake cups, fill with fresh strawberries, and put whipped cream on top. When looking for recipes you probably don’t take into account how easy they would be for kids to make. However, kids love to cook. Here are a couple easy recipes to start.

My two older kids are 4 and 8, and they both love to help in the kitchen. I think that making Christmas cookies was one of the highlights of their Christmas season. DealDash Cooks: 2 Great Salads

Now that it’s getting warmer outside my family is eating a lot more salad than before. Here are 2 of my favorite salads.

BLT Salad with Lime Vinaigrette

Ingredients for the salad:

  • 4 slices bacon, diced
  • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 avocado, halved, seeded, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Optionally, you can also add 1/2 cup of pomegranate seeds
  • Optionally, you can also add some corn
  • Optionally, you can also add some shredded or crumbled cheese (cheddar, goat)
