DealDash Kids: Start the Year with Healthy Snacks

DealDash

School is starting soon, let’s start the year off right with healthy snacks. DealDash has suggestions.

If your kids are like mine, they are excited to start school soon. They miss their friends and yes, even their teachers. However, like most families, we have gotten into a few unhealthy eating habits. DealDash is here to offer some ideas to help get back on track with some healthy snacks. Read on for the details.

Crispy and Crunchy

To begin with, the texture is an important part of choosing a snack. Many times when people reach for chips as a snack they are just craving a crispy or crunchy texture. You will be happy to know that most fresh vegetables and healthy cereals can provide this crunchy texture. All this without all of the excess fat and calories. Next time your children want a crunchy snack, instead of reaching for the chips, see if you can interest them in some cereal for a healthy snack instead. Which cereals are the healthiest? Just click this link to check out a slideshow on the Good Housekeeping site.

Make it Easy

Next, another reason that people (especially kids) fail to choose healthy options is because they are usually more time-consuming. Just think – what’s easier, grabbing a bag of fruit snacks or taking the time to wash, peel, and cut up actual fruit? To make fruit be an easy option you just have to think (and wash!) ahead. I try to always keep a variety of washed, peeled, and cup up fruits and veggies in the fridge for my kids. This way it’s very easy for them to just grab them when they are hungry.

I have noticed that when I don’t replenish the “already ready” fruits and veggies my kids tend to grab less healthy options rather than come ask me to prepare the fruit/veggies and then have to wait for me to come and help them. They are like little sharks – when they are hungry they want to eat N-O-W!

DealDash Presents: What You Need for Baby

DealDashDealDash can help you figure out what you need for your new baby. Read on for suggestions.

In the “good old days” (like 2019!) your friends and family would throw a baby shower for new parents. However, now in the days of social distancing and less family get-togethers, there are fewer baby showers. If you’re a first-time parent, you might not know what you should buy for your new arrival. Here are some tips for getting the right things to care for your baby, from DealDash.

Get a Baby Monitor – On DealDash

To begin with, one of the most important things that I received as a gift when I was a new mom was my baby monitor. Having a baby monitor was like having a little bit of freedom while still being able to be sure that your baby doesn’t need anything. If you don’t have a baby monitor, then you won’t be able to know when your baby wakes from their nap, needs a diaper change, or is hungry. Most baby monitors have 2-way communication, as well. This is good because if your baby wakes while you can’t come immediately, like when you’re in the shower, you can at least talk or sing to them while you are finishing up so they don’t feel alone. You can find baby monitors on DealDash, just click here.

Travel System – On DealDash

Next, you will definitely need a car seat and stroller – so why not just get a travel system? A travel system includes a “baby bucket” style car seat and a stroller. The baby bucket can be transferred from the car to the stroller, and can also be carried around a store or into your home. You might wonder why you would need this – but trust me, you do! Otherwise, you will have to take your baby out of the car seat each time you get in and out of the car. And everyone knows that babies love to sleep in the car, and unbuckling them usually wakes them up and makes them unhappy. Check out the travel systems at this link here.

Baby Toys

Finally, of course your baby will need toys! The type and style are up to you, just be sure that you follow the age guidelines that are recommended. When your baby is small they will most likely enjoy stuffed animals and items that have noises like rattles or crinkles. Many people also like to get their baby a play mat so they can spend time on the floor doing “tummy time” or laying flat on their back and looking at the toy danglers above. Remember, always follow the age guidelines on the packages. Click here to see baby toys and accessories.

Thanks for Reading

Of course, you will need many more things to get your baby settled in, this is just the start of the things that you’ll need to take care of a baby. Be sure that you do thorough research into your baby purchases so you know that you are purchasing quality items for your infant.

DealDash has many quality products for your baby. Some of these products include strollers, cribs, and travel systems. No matter what you need for your baby you should always check there first. Have a great time everyone, and happy bidding!

DealDash Pets: Your Cat Needs a Buddy

DealDash

Cats typically “purrrrfer” to live with another cat. Read on for some ideas from DealDash to add a second cat to your household.

Did you know that a group of cats is called a “clowder”? And that’s how they like to live – with at least one other cat. This is especially true if there isn’t a person home most of the day. Cats are pack animals, as you might know from hearing about feral cat colonies. If you already obtained cats as kitten littermates, great! You don’t have this problem. However, if you only have one cat and later want to add a second one you might have a bit of an adjustment period. Here are some ideas from DealDash to ease the transition.

#1 – Add a Young Cat

To begin with, if you have a cat that’s older than a year or two, I suggest that you make your newest addition a kitten. Cats ordinarily feel less threatened by a kitten rather than an adult cat. In many situations, the older resident cat will take a young kitten in and treat it like it’s own baby. This is quite common if the older cat has had litters of her own before.

A word of warning, though – if you have a much older cat, say 8+, they might not accept a new cat in the home. You should consult your vet for advice if you are in this situation.

#2 – Confine the New One

Next, keeping the resident cat and the new one separated is the way to go. However, don’t keep the older cat confined – let them have the run of the house as usual while you keep the new one in a single area.

When I brought home my new kitten I kept her in a large bathroom with everything she needed for the first couple of days. I had a litter box, food, bed, and some toys waiting in the bathroom for her. This way the cats could both hear each other meow through the door and smell each other, but they weren’t in a situation they felt threatened by each other.

#3 – Meet For Dinner

When they actually meet each other for the first time, make sure it’s when they are both happy. This is usually at a meal! Of course, give each cat their own separate bowl of food. Be sure that the food bowls aren’t too close, though. This way the cats will be occupied with the food and less likely to get into a fight. If they ignore each other, great! However, if they seem likely to fight, you might want to put the new one back into their area and try again a little later.

#4 – Get Supplies From DealDash

Finally, if you need pet supplies for your new (or old!) pet, DealDash can help! There are plenty of pet supplies on DealDash. There are supplies available for cats, dogs, birds, and small animals. DealDash Kids: It’s Hobby Time!

DealDash

Now more than ever, it’s important for kids to have a hobby. Here are some suggestions for why you should help them get started, from DealDash.

If your kids are anything like mine, they have been either in the house or backyard since March. This can be difficult for kids, and they need an outlet. This is a great reason why you should help your child find a hobby. There are lots of other reasons, too, so here are a few from DealDash.

A Way to Occupy the Time

As I mentioned above, a hobby is a great way to spend time. Time is something that kids probably have a lot of right now since school is out and most camps and activities have been canceled. If your child has been wandering around the house saying “I’m borrrreedd” every few minutes, it’s definitely time to help them find a hobby.

Some people think that a hobby has to involve some sort of skill, but this isn’t true for a lot of hobbies – at least to get started. If your child wants to get serious about their hobby then they will develop skill over time. However, to just get started they only need the willingness to learn and the materials to do the hobby.

Discover Self-Esteem and Help it Grow

Next, picking up a hobby can be a key factor in building a child’s self-esteem. Things have been very strange for the past few months, and it has left kids feeling very uncertain about things. Having a good self-esteem can help them “roll” with the changes that are certain to come once school begins again.

DealDash Prepares Kids for Back to School

DealDash

In most communities, “Back to school” will probably look different this year. Here are some tips from DealDash to help prepare for anything.

We might still have about a month before school starts, but it’s important to be prepared, especially this year. Most places don’t actually know what “back to school” is going to look like, yet. This year might include in-person, online, or a hybrid learning model. However, parents want to be sure to help their kids make the transition back to school as successful as possible, no matter which way they end up going. Here are some tips to help make this school year as successful as possible for your children, from DealDash.

Get Back Into a Routine, Starting NOW

To begin with, I don’t know about you, but my kids have been staying up later at night and sleeping later in the day. It will take a little work on your part as a parent, but be sure they get back into a morning school routine. You need to start their morning school routine about two weeks before they are ready to head back to school, so fairly soon for some parts of the USA.

If your kids typically have to get up at 7 AM for school and go to bed at 8 PM at night but have been having more of a 9 AM-10 PM schedule lately, it’s time to shift it. To do this, simply move wake-up and bedtime 15 minutes up on the first day. Continue this schedule for a few days, then shift it up another 15 minutes. Repeat this process until they are back on a normal school schedule.

Calm Their Fears

Next, the world has been a little scary lately, especially for kids. Kids typically have some apprehension when school begins again, and this year will be a little more difficult than usual. You want to take the time to help calm any fears that your child may be having with going back to school.

Unfortunately, if you don’t know yet how school will be happening in your area yet, it can be hard to give your kids the information they need. It might be helpful to go over the different ways that school might happen this year (in-person, online, or a hybrid) and talk a little bit about each different scenario.

Cheer Up Your Child With a Gift From DealDash

Finally, even if your child is anxious about school starting, a small gift will cheer them up! DealDash can help you find a gift, small or large, for your child. For younger kids, especially those starting Kindergarten or First Grade, a soft and cuddly stuffy is just what they need to feel secure. Click here for a cuddly friend. For older kids, a Lego set or some sports equipment would be a great gift. You can browse the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category at this link right here. No matter what you choose, your child will love it! Please remember, bidding on DealDash.com is for adults 18+.
