DealDash Family: Indoor Winter Fun

DealDash

With the fun and excitement of the holidays over, your family might be complaining of boredom. No problem, DealDash has some ideas for fun places to go when it’s cold out.

Let’s face it, the younger members of your family have probably already gotten tired of the mountain of toys that they unwrapped just a few weeks ago. The mall can be fun, but you can only go there so many times. Read on for some fun places from DealDash to go that won’t have your family saying “I’m borrrred!”

The Arcade

Going to the arcade might seem like a very old idea to those of us who grew up in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. However, the kids of today still like going to the arcade – especially if your arcade does a ticket/prize swap. For the younger kids, there are some games that you might be familiar with as an app on your phone, for older kids, there are games such as basketball and giant Connect Four, and for us Gen X and Y’ers, there are classic video games. When my family was on vacation this past summer to Utah, they even had nickel arcades! You can have a lot of fun with just a few dollars.

The Aquarium

Next, the aquarium is one of my family’s favorite activities. Most medium-sized cities have one, and they are usually reasonably priced. We like the aquarium so much that we always buy a yearly pass so we can go as many times as we want for free throughout the year. Typically, if you plan on going to the aquarium at least three times per year then buying the yearly pass makes good financial sense. The aquarium is another place that can be fun for the whole family from kids to seniors. My mother-in-law always enjoys going with us when she is in town. Just be sure to do the math to see if buying a yearly pass makes sense financially.

Jumpy Places

Jumpy places have been popping up all over the place in my area. These are places that have indoor trampolines, big “pools” full of foam, and air-filled structures for kids to climb, slide, and play on. This is the only place on the list that I have included that the adults in the family might not enjoy. However, depending on the facility, usually, the adults are allowed to jump on the trampolines, too.

DealDash Kids: Homework Help for Kids

DealDash

Every kid is different, but many of them need help with homework. Follow these suggestions from DealDash and have an easier time helping your child.

Many kids struggle with homework, and as a parent, it means that it ends up being your struggle as well. Thankfully, there are quite a few things that you can do as a parent to help make homework go more smoothly for your child, with a little help from DealDash.

Get Started Right Away (Or After Snack)

As soon as my school-aged children (8 and 11) get off of the bus, it’s time to do homework. It’s a predictable routine, and there are rarely any arguments about it. Ever since they were in Kindergarten this has been our schedule. On the other hand, my friend’s son is not in this routine, and there are many homework-related arguments in their home. Of course, sometimes they come home hungry and request to have their snack before homework instead of the other way around.

Also, if your child is older they probably have more homework. For your own sanity, make sure that you allow them to take breaks. A 10-15 minute break after each homework assignment is sufficient. It’s surprising to me the amount of homework my 5th grader has versus how much he had last year. Be sure to let them take breaks and things will go more smoothly at home.

Try to Make it Fun

It may sound difficult, but you can try to make homework fun for your kids. Many of you might remember those old “Schoolhouse Rock” videos. Did you know that many of them are available on YouTube to watch for free? This is a great option especially if your child is more of a visual learner. My daughter who is in 2nd grade loves them! And she was very surprised to hear that I watched them when I was her age! There are also many free (and paid) apps that can teach and entertain at the same time. Just do a search for “free education games” or “math games” or “reading games”, and you will have many to choose from to download.

Reward Good Grades With Help From DealDash

Does your child have good grades? Be sure to reward your child’s good work. Doing homework consistently and thoroughly usually leads to better grades. When you notice that your child has been getting great grades on tests and schoolwork, you might want to get them a small gift. DealDash has many things that your child would love. No matter if they love Legos, stuffed animals, board games, or even video games, DealDash has you covered. Click here to see some amazing toys that will really “WOW” your kids. Of course, DealDash is only for adults – The DealDash services are offered and may only be used by persons over the age of 18.

DealDash Kids: Fun Places to Go When it’s Cold Out

DealDash

Depending on where you are, winter might be in full force. It even snowed a bit here over the weekend! Kids still need to play, here are a few ideas from DealDash to help.

As it gets colder out, it can be difficult to find fun activities for your children. While playing in the snow can be fun, it can quickly become too much for your youngsters. We wanted to offer some alternative ideas that can make a snow day perfect. Read on for some great suggestions from DealDash.

Indoor Exercise

If you’re looking to burn some energy, find a local bowling alley or skating rink to go to. Using the bumpers at the bowling alley will make it fun for the whole family. It will also give your child a sense of accomplishment knowing that he/she was able to knock the pins down consistently. Roller skating, on the other hand, can be difficult, but it offers the opportunity for a full-body exercise and is sure to burn a ton of energy.

Crafts are Always a Hit

If you’re looking for something a little calmer, consider taking a snow day to learn a new craft. Everyone knows that you can go to the local library to find books, but most people don’t realize that the library offers a ton of classes. You may also want to consider the local craft store. You may luck out and find that they’re offering classes on knitting, crocheting, etc.

Walk the Mall

Another low-impact exercise opportunity is going to the local mall. Ideally, you can window shop rather than buying toys, but the opportunity to walk inside is tough to beat. Most malls also have play areas where you can relax while your little one runs around.

Toys and Games From DealDash

You don’t always have to go somewhere, why not have fun in your own home? This can be easily accomplished with a little help from DealDash. Take a peek at the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category. Here you will find fun things like race cars and Lego sets, toys you can ride on (try in the basement!), and board games. These things are perfect for days when it’s just too yucky to go outside.

Thanks for Reading

Finally, consider making someone else feel good while it’s cold outside. If your child is old enough, go to a local kennel or even a pet shop. See if you can volunteer to walk the animals or even pull them out to play with them. It’s a great stress reliever, and you’ll be able to offer some love to an animal that seems to be forgotten.

Thanks for reading, and remember to check DealDash for awesome indoor toys. Have a great day, and happy bidding, everyone!

DealDash Kids: Fun Things to Do Before Going Back to School

DealDash

There are only a few weeks left of summer vacation. Here are a few ideas from DealDash of fun things to do before school starts again.

Summer is almost coming to an end, and your kids may be feeling a little sad about going back to school. Summer is a time of fun, being able to sleep in, and freedom. Although as a parent you may be overjoyed that school is almost back in session, there are some fun things to do before going back to school, from DealDash.

Have a picnic

One of the best fun things to do before going back to school is to have a picnic. Packing a delicious lunch and going to a park or the beach is a simple activity to do before going back to school. You can spend time with your kids, and bond over a delicious meal. Be sure to bring some games that you can play together. Having a picnic is a relaxing way to have some fun with your kids.

Go for a Swim

If you spent most of your summer at the pool or water park it is good to get your last swim in before school starts. Having one last swim can be a fun way to end the summer with your kids. You can even throw a small pool party and invite their friends over.

Have a Sleepover

During the school year, it is hard to have a sleepover with your friends. Invite your kid’s friends over for a fun sleepover. You can play games, or watch a movie with a side of popcorn. Having a sleepover will give your kids a chance to mingle with their friends before homework gets in the way.

Get Your Board Game On With DealDash!

DealDash

Board games are great for all ages, from preschooler to the elderly. DealDash has lots of games to choose from. Here are some favorites.

My family absolutely loves board games! There are lots of great games out there, and they aren’t just for kids. Board games and card games have made a great resurgence into popularity these days. Here are some favorites that are available from DealDash.

Catan

Catan is an excellent strategy board game. You will start by revealing Catan’s many harbors and regions: pastures, fields, mountains, hills, forests, and desert. Catan is fun because the random mix of pieces creates a different board each and every time. This game does have a few restrictions that you should be aware of: this is not a 2-player game, you will need 3-4 players for this game. Also, this is not a game for small kids because it has a little bit of a learning curve to pick up. I would suggest that this game would be good for ages 10+. If you would like to check out this game on DealDash, just click here.

Ticket to Ride

If you haven’t played the Ticket To Ride Board Game, you’re in for a treat. This fun game is a cross-country train adventure is made for two to five players. The objective of this train board game is to see who can travel by rail to the most cities in North America in just seven days. There are 225 colored train cars and players have to collect cards that allow them to use the different railway routes connecting the cities across the USA. If you like this game you will want to pick up the additional games that feature New York, Europe, India, Asia, and others. If you would like to check out this game on DealDash, just click here.

Deluxe Super Scrabble

Classic Scrabble has always been one of my favorite games. However, Deluxe Super Scrabble is even better! It is just like Classic Scrabble, with a few extra bonuses. The new board features a tile lock design that holds the tiles in place even if the board is moved. This way, the surface can be rotated for each player while keeping the tiles from moving. There are also more spaces and more tiles than the original. This is also a game that younger kids can play as long as they have adequate reading and spelling skills. The recommended age for players ages 8 and up. If you would like to check out this game on DealDash, just click here.

Thanks for Reading

Playing board games can be a lot of fun and stress-relieving as well. I hope these games will make you excited to join in the fun. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on board games.
