DealDash Guide to Organizing Your Bookshelf

DealDash

Books can make a house look comfortable and welcoming. Here are some ideas from DealDash for organizing the books on your bookshelf.

Many people are starting to read their books online, but I don’t think that paperback and hardcover books will be going away anytime soon. I know a number of people who still love the feel of a book in their hands. They say there’s something special about turn the page rather than just swiping it. So, we’ve decided to take a few minutes to look at how you can keep those books organized. Read on for some organizational ideas from DealDash.

Cleaning and Dusting

First, you should start by cleaning everything out. It doesn’t take long for books (and spaces between them) to collect dust. Anytime I plan to re-organize, I take everything off and wipe my bookcases down. Once you’ve thoroughly cleaned you should consider how you want your books organized.

Get a Bookcase From DealDash

In the course of cleaning and dusting, you might find that your bookcase is old and/or has some damage. Since your books are already off of the shelf, it’s a great time to get a new bookshelf. DealDash has bookcases, shelves, and racks that your books would love to live on. Choose from wood, wire, and other materials. You can choose from traditional or modern styles. Just click here and you will find some beautiful bookcases from DealDash.

Organize Alphabetically

A number of people like to go alphabetically. Much like the library, having a perfect system makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. You could do this by the last name of the author or by the title. I prefer using titles as I don’t always remember who the author was when I’m looking for something.

Organize By Topic

Others look to organize by topic. They find that knowing what style they want to read is more important than finding a specific book. My favorite books are typically the same genre, so this doesn’t really work for me. If you have a large library, it can be a great way of encouraging yourself to pick up a book you haven’t seen in a few years.

Organize Visually

You may also decide to focus on aesthetics and not organize your books in any particular way. This option works really well if your bookcase is used for its visual as much as its practical uses. If you have a small library at home, this may be the way to go. I love to randomize the books so that the height varies from left to right. This adds a bit of texture to the bookcase.

Thanks for Reading

DealDash: Thanksgiving’s Over! Organize Your Cabinets

DealDash

Thanksgiving is over! If you hosted your kitchen is probably in need of some assistance. DealDash can help!

We all love Thanksgiving, but there’s a price to pay when you’re making food for your extended family. Typically, your kitchen ends up taking the worst of the damage. Trying to re-organize can be difficult, so we wanted to offer a few tips. Read on for helpful information from DealDash.

Clear Out the Clutter

Start by cleaning out the clutter. You can’t organize a cabinet that is still in shambles. Get rid of the spices that you can’t identify. If you have any spices that are opened and not in a normal plastic bottle, you should consider using baggies. I’ve found that labeling a baggie with a date and name of the spice is incredibly helpful. It may be good to list the serving size as well.

Use Storage to Help

  • Use Tupperware containers to make everything neat again. It’s also helpful to use Tupperware as a bit of a box for your spices or packets of mixes. It’s similar to the idea we suggested to keep a playroom neat. By having a place for everything, you know that you’ll be able to find it when you’re looking.
  • Buy a spice rack. These come in many varieties. If you have the space for a true spice rack that can hang, it’s worth its weight in gold. If you don’t have that kind of space, consider buying a spice rack that is tiered so that the spices are at different levels. It makes finding the right spice much easier.
  • Finally, you may want to consider getting small magnetic jars. You can paint the lid or side with chalkboard paint so that you can label the jar. Having something with a little character can also act as a decoration piece in your kitchen. Using a jar also looks a little nicer than plastic bags.

DealDash Has Storage for You

Did your relatives take all of your Tupperware and other storage containers home with leftovers? No problem! DealDash has something even better – beautiful glass containers for your food. DealDash Tips to Organize Outdoor Toys

DealDash

Organizing your kid’s outdoor toys doesn’t have to be hard. DealDash has some great tips to help.

When the weather is warmer, kids like to play outside. You plan playdates with their friends, and they can bring all of their toys. Outside toys can be hard to organize; you can easily find them laying around your yard. You may feel overwhelmed by all of your kid’s outdoor toys. Here are 3 ways to organize outdoor toys, from DealDash.

Use Laundry Baskets

Laundry baskets are one of the best things to use to organize your kid’s outdoor toys. They have plenty of room, and you can carry them anywhere. Try to keep at least three laundry baskets outside in your garage if you have one. They can put their small outdoor toys in the laundry basket. Using a basket will help keep your child’s outdoor toys organized. You can get very inexpensive laundry baskets at any big box store. You might want to try cloth laundry baskets – you can even put them in the washing machine if they get too grungy!

Hang a Milk Crate

Milk crates are not just used to store milk. You can use milk crates to store your kid’s outdoor toys. Such as bats, baseballs, and bubbles. A milk crate can protect your kid’s toys from the rain. If you don’t have a milk crate, you can find old crates and hang them on the fence. They also sell them at big box stores in the home section. You will not feel stressed out when you use milk crates because everything will be in one spot.

Create a Storage Shed

A storage shed is an excellent place to hold your kid’s outdoor toys. You can store your child’s bikes and scooters in the shed. Creating shelves for smaller toys is also a good way to store toys. You can build a few racks to hold basketballs and rackets. A storage shed will help you keep your toys nice and tidy. Storage sheds can be expensive, but they will give you peace of mind when you look at your nice clean toy-free deck and garage.

DealDash Helps You Organize Your Summer Schedule

DealDash

Summertime is for fun! However, we still need to stay organized. Here are some ideas from DealDash to keep you on track.

We all remember the fun and excitement of the summer days when we were little. However, as a parent, summer is a little more complicated and definitely not quite as fun. Between camp, soccer and dance practice, changing schedules, active playdate calendars, and the days when the kids are home saying “I’m Borrrrred” things can be tough. Here are a few tips from DealDash to help you stay calm and organized.

Preparation Makes Summer Easier

Some extra planning now at the beginning of summer can help Mom, Dad, and the Kids have a stress‐free summer. You will want to begin making a family calendar for the upcoming months now, at the beginning of June so you can plan out all of the activities that you and your children want to do. You should include traveling and vacations, day trips to the beach, summer camp, and sleepovers and playdates with friends.

Making a summer calendar is a great idea so you will know what is coming up. Also, you will be able to easily figure out which weeks or days you still have to fill up with an activity. Be sure to hang the calendar where everyone in the family will see it so you will all be on the same page. If you have more than one child an easy way to simplify things is to get a dry‐erase calendar board and assign each family member a color. This will make it easy to figure out who’s doing what each day according to what color it’s written in.

DealDash Helps: Organize Craft Supplies

DealDash

Crafting is a very popular hobby these days. However, all of those supplies can be messy. Here are some ideas from DealDash for organizing your craft supplies.

All my life I have wanted a dedicated craft room, and when we built our house a few years ago I got my wish. However, now that I have a craft room things get messy very fast. That’s why it’s quite important to make sure that your craft supplies are neat and organized. Here are a few ideas from DealDash to help you keep things organized.

Use Bookshelves for Craft Organization

Bookshelves are great for craft organization! Of course, you’ll want to store your craft books there, but you can use it for other craft items as well. You can keep your construction, craft, and scrapbooking papers on a bookshelf. Simply get a few holders that are meant for files and you can keep your papers in them on a shelf. You can also use shoeboxes to keep your odds and ends in. They will fit very nicely on a bookshelf. Depending on the width of your shelves you can also even store a sewing machine or a Cricut machine on the bottom shelf!

Shoe Organizer? No, Craft Organizer!

Over-the-door shoe organizers are great for shoes, but they are also amazing for craft supplies, too. After you have hung up your shoe organizer on the door you can put many things in the spaces meant for shoes such as yarn, rolls of fabric, pens, pencils, markers, and more. This is a great way to maximize your space if you have a small room.
