DealDash Helps Prepare Easter Baskets

DealDash

Easter is about a month away, and it’s the perfect time to get your kid’s Easter baskets ready. DealDash has some ideas.

Now is the perfect time to begin collecting things to go into Easter baskets. No matter who you are gifting an Easter basket – from kids to seniors, DealDash has some great things to include. Read on for some Easter basket tips.

Get Your Basket Recipient Something from DealDash

Firstly, you can stay in and shop on DealDash for Easter. Wouldn’t your child or other family members just love a soft and fuzzy bunny rabbit toy? Or how about a funny bunny lamp? You can see some of the bunny items that are currently up for bid at this link right here. You can also find some nice fresh items in the New Item category on DealDash. Just click this link here!

Not Big on Candy?

Next, I know not every person is into candy. Think of the person who you are gifting a basket, what are their hobbies? For instance, if the person loves to knit, simple, make a basket with some yarn, stitch markers, and maybe even a few patterns. For a child who doesn’t like (or isn’t allowed) candy, then you will want to load up their basket with surprise eggs, coloring books, crayons, card games, and any other fun surprises you think they will like. Just be sure to add some fun Easter grass and a bow!

Let Them Craft a Basket

Finally, another fun way to celebrate Easter is to let them make their own baskets! Find a white basket and some markers or paint pens and encourage the person to decorate their basket how they like it. Next, you can have them either write down some suggestions of things that they would like in their basket or even draw pictures if they prefer. Then it’s time for you to go shopping and fulfill their wish list. As a result, there are no worries about including things they don’t like or are allergic to. Also, it’s easier for you!

DealDash: School Shut Down? Entertain the Kids

DealDash

All around the USA schools are temporarily closing to stop the spread of germs. DealDash has some ideas to help entertain your kids.

Many schools are closing as a precautionary measure against the spread of germs. For example, all schools in Massachusetts are temporarily closed until April 7th (at least). Having your kids home unexpectedly for 3 weeks can be a strain, on all of you. Follow these suggestions from DealDash and make your time go a little easier.

DealDash Has Legos for Boys and Girls

First, let’s talk about Legos. Almost everyone young and old, girls and boys, enjoy playing and building with Legos. When your whole family is home together for the next few weeks Legos can be something that the whole family can share and enjoy together. Also, there are different types and styles of Legos,  with both sets and loose pieces available on DealDash as well.

Do you have younger kids? Not a problem – there are Lego sets for younger children, as well. If your child is too young for regular Legos try the Duplo blocks. Also, DealDash has both Legos and Duplo blocks available for auction. As a result, you can get a new Lego set and watch the boredom melt away.

Use the Internet to Help Your Child Learn a Skill

Next, a great thing about being stuck indoors is that you can use that time to help your child learn a new skill. Also, no matter what skill they want to learn, from playing the piano to drawing to folding origami, there are free tutorials online. Just today my daughter watched two different ukelele tutorials online, and is well on her way to learning how to play “You Are My Sunshine”. Also, some people are visual learners and some prefer to read the directions themselves. Figure out which way your child prefers, and help them find tutorials online.

Give Them a Job

Finally, busy kids aren’t bored! Depending on the age and skill level of your kids you can assign them a few jobs to complete around the house. Personally, I like the “Chore Bucket” way to assign chores. The way to do a chore bucket is to write down the jobs you need to be done on slips of paper. You can also assign each chore either a monetary or point value. Each child can choose which chore they would like to complete out of the choices in the bucket.

After completing the chore that they picked they receive either the amount of money or the points that were written on the slip. The idea is that they can save up the points to use for something they would like to do or experience. For example, you could say that they could use 5 points to stay up an extra half hour at bedtime. For instance, I like to write everyone’s money and points that they have earned on our whiteboard and do a pay-out at the end of the week.

Thanks for Reading

I hope these suggestions will give you some ideas on how to keep your kids busy on their unexpected break from school. Try one of these tips or all of them at different times. Regardless of which one you choose your child will be entertained. However, these suggestions are just the beginning to entertaining your kids. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on keeping your kids busy.

DealDash Crafts: Valentine’s Day Creativity

DealDash

Valentine’s Day is the perfect holiday to put your creativity to good use. DealDash has some great ideas, so read this article and get creative!

Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly. While everyone focuses on a romantic relationship, I like to make sure the kids are able to celebrate as well. We focus on making simple crafts that the kids can complete independently. These can be for decoration or gifts for their loved ones. Read on for some fun ideas from DealDash.

Heart Garland

One of our go-to crafts is homemade heart garland. It’s a bit of a play on the candy hearts that you can buy in the store. We cut construction paper into hearts and then string them together. I like to add a quick phrase or note that resembles what you’ll find on those candied hearts. It’s simple and makes for a great decoration or a quick gift.

Accordion Card

Another favorite requires a bit more work. It’s called an accordion card. You start by cutting a 1 inch wide strip of construction paper and fold it into an accordion. On each square that you’ve made, you write a letter to spell out “this much”. Then cut out the shape of a hand. We like to trace our hands. Finally, attach one hand on each side of the accordion. On the “front” hand, write “I love you”. In the end, the card reads “I love you this much” and as the person opens the card, the hands spread further apart.

Heart Person

Following the accordion idea, we like to make a heart-figure. It’s something simple but cute. First, we cut out a heart shape and draw a face on it. My kids love to use googly eyes rather than drawing eyes. We make an accordion fold on 4 strips of paper. I typically aim for about ½ inch wide. Then add small hearts that function as the hands and feet of the heart. It can be a craft on its own or you can write a note on the back to make it function as a card or gift.

DealDash’s Toddler Tips and Tricks

DealDash

Toddlers can be troublesome little cuties, but there are ways to make things go smoothly. Read on for some tips and tricks for toddler behavior, from DealDash.

Lots of parents and grandparents fret about taking their toddler out and about in public. With most toddlers, they can have a meltdown for unknown and unpredicted reasons. Tantrums are extremely common in toddlers and can’t always be prevented. Here are a few tips to help you get through a tantrum, from DealDash.

Do You Know the Cause?

Firstly, you should try to determine the cause of this behavior. Does your child have a problem that can be easily taken care of, such as being hungry or hot/cold? Did something happen to upset them somehow? To help your child you will need to find out exactly what is causing the issue. Of course, sometimes the reason might not make any sense to you and you won’t be able to help them. But this technique will work sometimes.

Stay Calm in the Face of Tantrums

Next, even though it can be difficult, you need to keep your composure when your toddler is having a tantrum. If you don’t stay calm and get angry it will only make your child more upset. No matter how angry you feel you will have to keep calm so you don’t prolong the tantrum and make things worse.

Toddlers Are Easily Distracted

Finally, when it comes to calming down a child having a tantrum, distraction can work wonders. Something as simple as pointing out the window to show them a bird, squirrel, or dog walking by can be enough to distract them. Another great way to distract toddlers can be by offering a drink or healthy snack. My kids have always wanted a snack no matter how upset they are! Just make sure that you are offering something that is healthy and won’t make them more hyper like candy.

Reward Good Behavior With Help From DealDash

Be sure to regularly reward your child’s good behavior. When you notice that your child has had great behavior, you might want to get them a small gift. DealDash has lots of things your child would love to get as a reward. No matter if they love Legos, stuffed animals, or even video games, DealDash has it all. Click here to see some fun toys that will really make your kids smile. Of course, DealDash is only for adults – The DealDash services are offered and may only be used by persons over the age of 18.

DealDash Family: Indoor Winter Fun

DealDash

With the fun and excitement of the holidays over, your family might be complaining of boredom. No problem, DealDash has some ideas for fun places to go when it’s cold out.

Let’s face it, the younger members of your family have probably already gotten tired of the mountain of toys that they unwrapped just a few weeks ago. The mall can be fun, but you can only go there so many times. Read on for some fun places from DealDash to go that won’t have your family saying “I’m borrrred!”

The Arcade

Going to the arcade might seem like a very old idea to those of us who grew up in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. However, the kids of today still like going to the arcade – especially if your arcade does a ticket/prize swap. For the younger kids, there are some games that you might be familiar with as an app on your phone, for older kids, there are games such as basketball and giant Connect Four, and for us Gen X and Y’ers, there are classic video games. When my family was on vacation this past summer to Utah, they even had nickel arcades! You can have a lot of fun with just a few dollars.

The Aquarium

Next, the aquarium is one of my family’s favorite activities. Most medium-sized cities have one, and they are usually reasonably priced. We like the aquarium so much that we always buy a yearly pass so we can go as many times as we want for free throughout the year. Typically, if you plan on going to the aquarium at least three times per year then buying the yearly pass makes good financial sense. The aquarium is another place that can be fun for the whole family from kids to seniors. My mother-in-law always enjoys going with us when she is in town. Just be sure to do the math to see if buying a yearly pass makes sense financially.

Jumpy Places

Jumpy places have been popping up all over the place in my area. These are places that have indoor trampolines, big “pools” full of foam, and air-filled structures for kids to climb, slide, and play on. This is the only place on the list that I have included that the adults in the family might not enjoy. However, depending on the facility, usually, the adults are allowed to jump on the trampolines, too.

Want to Stay Home? Get Activities on DealDash

Finally, if you are the type of person who prefers to stay home when the weather is bad, then DealDash has a solution. There are plenty of fun things on DealDash that can be won in auction or BINned (Buy It Now) afterward. You will find things like slot car racing sets, Legos, video game systems, and board games. Click here to check out one of my favorite categories – Toys, Hobbies, Outdoors, and Games.  You will find all of the activities that I mentioned and so many more!
