DealDash Travel: Can’t Take a Vacation? Camp Instead!

DealDash

People all over are rethinking their vacation plans for this year. If your vacation has been canceled, try camping instead. Here are some tips from DealDash to get you started.

Summer is here! Unfortunately, many places here in the USA are still on full or partial quarantine. You might have to reconsider your vacation. Many flights have been canceled as well as hotel reservations canceled. However, you don’t have to just sit at home! If you’re looking for a great idea for a vacation where you can still practice social distancing you should consider camping. There are many reasons that you should choose camping for your next vacation during these tough times. Read on for some helpful tips from DealDash.

Social Distancing in Nature

To begin with, social distancing is still happening almost everywhere in America. Camping is the perfect way to keep your distance from other people while having fun with your family “bubble”. Depending on where you go camping, you might not even see any other people! However, even if you decide that you would rather camp at a campground, it will be easy to stay at least 6 feet away from other people. You can go hiking, fishing, collecting berries, or bird watching with your family while staying a safe distance away from other people. As vacations go, I would say that camping is the easiest way to stay 6 feet away from everyone!

Save Money While Having Fun

Next, another thing that people have been worrying about lately is their budget. Thankfully, camping is very friendly to your budget. You will save money by not having to pay for a flight or an expensive hotel. You will also save money because you won’t be going to any nice restaurants while camping.

Most camping supplies such as sleeping bags, a cooler, flashlights/lanterns, and packs can either be found around the house, borrowed from friends or family, or bought secondhand. Your biggest expense will probably be renting either a tent or a cabin, but this is a small cost compared to even a low or mid-tier hotel.

DealDash Can Help With Supplies

If you are looking to purchase some supplies for camping, you can find a great selection on DealDash. If you click this link you will find tents, sleeping bags, enamel dining sets meant for the outdoors, lanterns, and more. Get Active With Nature

Finally, nature and exercise go hand-in-hand. When you go camping with your family you will have lots of opportunities to participate in nature-related activities like hiking, swimming and long walks along the water. Additionally, camping is also a healthy vacation choice because you will get a lot of exercise from all of the activities that simply come from spending time in nature.

DealDash’s To Do List Before You Go on Spring Break

DealDash

Spring Break is coming quickly. If you’re planning to take any sort of vacation, it’s important that you get things ready. DealDash can help.

Spring break is coming, and if you are going on a trip there are things you need to do now to prepare. Read this article from DealDash, make a checklist, and be prepared!

Don’t Forget Your Pets

Many people wait until the last minute to think of their pets when considering a vacation. Come up with a plan for how your pet is going to be taken care of. There are plenty of pet-friendly hotels if that’s the way you’d like to go. If not, look for a local pet sitter or kennel that can help. There are even some pet-hotels that function as a bed and breakfast for people and a kennel for dogs. It ensures your pet will get some socialization while you’re gone.

Make Sure Your House is Prepared

Make sure your house is taken care of while you’re gone. Do you need to set up the sprinkler system? Maybe you can have a neighbor come over to water your garden instead. You may also want to consider the mail if you’re going to be gone for a week or so. If you don’t have a neighbor that can help you out, you can call the post office to tell them to hold your mail while you’re gone.

Another key preparation that I like to make is setting an automation schedule inside the house. With today’s technology, I like to set my thermostat in cycles. I turn the heat/ac on so that at night it can be a bit cooler and during the day, it’s typically a bit warmer. If you’d rather just turn your thermostat down while you’re gone, that’s fine as well. In the same thought, we have automated lights. I set a schedule so that the lights turn on and off by themselves. It seems a bit crazy, but it offers us some peace of mind knowing that it’s a little less obvious that we’re gone. Think of the movie Home Alone!

Now is the perfect time to make special plans for your sweetie’s Valentine’s Day surprise. A romantic trip is a sure-fire winner.

I know what you’re thinking – “Valentine’s Day?! It’s not even January!”. However, if you want to take your love on a special trip this year it’s important to plan and book early. There are a lot of vacation spots that are considered the perfect spot for romance. With so many to choose from it can be hard to pick the right one. Here are a few romantic vacation spots from DealDash that you will love.

Bermuda

Not only is Bermuda a beautiful island with pink sand beaches, it’s also relatively close. This is especially true if you live on the East Coast! From Boston or New York it’s a quick 2-2.5-hour flight that is fairly inexpensive. This means that you can fly in and out for a long romantic weekend without breaking the bank. Bermuda has many romantic and cozy restaurants and the people are so polite and friendly there.

You and your Valentine will have an amazing time, even if it might be a little chilly at this time of year. In February the temperatures are in the low 60’s, which is positively toasty if you’re somewhere that is currently covered in snow and ice!

Napa Valley, California

Valentine’s Day and wine go hand-in-hand. Why not get romantic and sip wine on Valentine’s Day from the source! Napa Valley is known for being THE spot for wine in California. There are vineyards and luxury hotels galore. Not only is Napa Valley a romantic spot for wine, but there are also many cozy restaurants that are just perfect for you and your sweetie. You might not be able to do any outdoor swimming in February, as the temperatures are typically in the 60’s, but you can certainly use the hot tub or indoor pool at your hotel. Follow that up with some wine and dessert, and you have an awesome romantic Valentine’s Day trip.

Orlando, Florida

You might not know this, but Orlando isn’t just for family vacations! There are quite a few romantic experiences to be had in sunny Orlando. There are romantic hotels that offer couple’s massages, wineries that offer special Valentine’s wine and cheese nights, and a fondue tour for two at a local chocolate factory. Surprisingly, Orlando has the warmest temperatures of the list – February boasts temperatures in the mid-70’s.

DealDash Travel Tips for the Holidays

DealDashLots of fun family holidays are coming up soon. If you’re traveling for the holiday you will want to read this new DealDash article.

The holidays are always a very busy season for travel, both by air and by car. Thanksgiving is next week, and Christmas is just around the corner. Now is a great time to make your travel plans. Read this DealDash article and get some tips!

Driving or Flying This Season?

Firstly, you need to choose how you will get to your holiday celebration. Are you going to drive or fly? Be sure to plan ahead and do your research on routes, flights, and prices. Be sure to check different airlines to compare different costs for flights. If you’re driving you will want to see how long it takes, where you can stop for a break, and factor in the cost of gas.

DealDash Can Assist With Packing

For short trips, like a long weekend around the holidays, a carry-on bag is a great choice. If you need a fresh new carry-on bag you can obtain one from DealDash. DealDash has very nice high-quality luggage. They are much nicer than the ones at the local big box store. You can simply click this link right here and check out the luggage that DealDash offers up for auction.

If you’re a mom like me, then you probably end up packing for more than just yourself! I have 3 kids to pack for as well as myself, so I like to start early. Typically I try to do a load of laundry and pack as I am folding the clean clothes. I feel like it saves an extra step – then when we come home I unpack all of the dirty clothes directly back into the washing machine! Go ahead, treat yourself to some new luggage. Just click here.

Make a List

You will also want to make a list of things you have to do before you leave for your trip. Be sure to think of everything, because there’s nothing worse than being halfway to your destination and remember something that you either forgot to do or to pack. Here is an example of what my list usually looks like:

  • Fill automatic water and food bowls for the cats (if we are away for more than 2 days I get a pet sitter)
  • Make sure the litterbox has fresh litter
  • Turn the heat down to 65
  • Check to make sure all appliances are off/unplugged
  • Check all window and door locks
  • Bring medicine

Thanks for Reading

Traveling for the holidays can be either fun or a pain – it’s up to you! The more you plan ahead, though, the better time you will have. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on prepping for your holiday trip.

DealDash Do’s and Don’ts of Traveling with Pets

DealDash

Taking your pet along on vacation can be a great experience for you and your pet. Be sure to follow these DealDash Do’s and Don’ts of traveling with pets.

Everyone likes to take a vacation. Sometimes you may want to bring your furry friend with you when you are traveling. Pets are a big responsibility, and it takes a lot of work to keep up with them when you are visiting another place. Traveling with pets does not have to be difficult. Here are some of the do’s and don’ts of traveling with pets, from DealDash.

Do Follow the Hotel Pet Policy

Each hotel has its own rules when it comes to bringing pets with you. It is important to abide by the hotel rules for your animals. Make sure you look up the hotel that you are planning to stay at so you can know the hotel rules for pets. Following the hotel rules are imperative for the safety of others.

Don’t Bring a lot of pets

Bringing more than one or two pets can cause a lot of issues. You can have a higher cleaning fee, and you may have a hard time keeping up with your pets. Pets can easily escape from where you are staying, so it is important to bring only one or two animals to keep things in order.

Don’t Leave Your Pet Alone

Many housekeepers refuse to clean a hotel when dogs are left alone in the room. It is best to take your dog for a walk while the housekeepers are cleaning your hotel room or coordinate with the housekeeping supervisor. Leaving your pet alone can also cause havoc. They can tear up the room while you are gone. The best thing to do is to be sure that you bring a crate with you to the hotel. This way if you absolutely have to leave your pet in the room they will be safe and contained in their own little “den”.

Do Clean Up

It is important to clean up after your animal if he or she spills some food or misses the bowl. After you clean up your pet’s mess, you should let the housekeeping staff know so they can do a deep cleaning. Cleaning up after your pet will also help you avoid damages and extra cleaning fees. You should consider packing a few cleaning supplies such as a roll of paper towels, an enzyme cleaner, and some Febreeze.
