Try DealDash’s Back-to-School Morning Routine

School started this week for my kids, and while it was tough, it’s much easier when you have a good morning routine.
September always sneaks up on me. One moment, we’re soaking up the last rays of summer sunshine, and the next, I’m staring down the reality of alarm clocks, lunchboxes, and a never-ending pile of school forms. Getting everyone out the door on time used to be a miracle in our house, complete with lost shoes, forgotten homework, and tears, (from both kids and mom!). Over the years, though, we’ve found a rhythm that makes mornings a little smoother and a lot happier. Read on for some excellent suggestions from DealDash for an easier morning routine.
Prep the Night Before
The biggest game-changer for us? Doing as much as possible before bedtime. Each child lays out their clothes for the next day, including socks and shoes, because those always seem to go missing at the worst time. Lunches and water bottles get packed right after dinner, and backpacks are parked by the door. It takes about 15 minutes, but it saves us from that frantic scavenger hunt in the morning. Just be sure to remember to grab the lunches from the fridge in the morning!
A Gentle Wake-Up (with Music!)
I’ve learned that yelling up the stairs, “Time to get up!” only sets the day off on the wrong foot. Instead, I’ve started playing fun, upbeat music as a wake-up call. Each child has their own smart speaker, and I can play music to everyone at the same time to wake them up. And honestly, it works better than any alarm clock. Plus, it starts the morning with a smile rather than a groan. For my slow waker, I build in an extra 10 minutes of snuggle time, it’s amazing how much calmer the whole process feels when no one is rushed out of bed.
Breakfast That Works for Everyone
Gone are the days of full-on hot breakfasts before school (if those ever existed!). These days, I keep things simple but satisfying. Think: overnight oats, banana muffins baked on Sunday, or scrambled eggs with toast. The trick is having options that kids can grab and eat quickly if we’re running behind. I’ve noticed that a little bit of choice, like picking their fruit or cereal, goes a long way toward avoiding breakfast battles. Check out the Overnight Oats site to get recipe ideas.
DealDash Has Speakers and Electronics
Waking my kids up with music instead of an alarm has been the best thing to improve our morning routine, you should give it a try. If you need a smart speaker or two you need to check DealDash first. In addition to picking up a speaker, you can also grab a laptop, tablet, desk, and anything else your student needs to succeed in school this year.
