DealDash Makes 4th of July Family Traditions

The 4th of July is just about here! What are some of your family’s favorite holiday traditions?
Every year when the calendar flips to July, there’s a buzz of excitement in our house. The 4th of July is one of our favorite summer holidays, not just for the fireworks and cookouts, but for the fun traditions we’ve built together over the years. These small, meaningful moments help us slow down and celebrate as a family in our own way. You can build your own 4th of July traditions with your own family with these suggestions from DealDash.
Backyard Breakfast and Flag Raising
We start our Independence Day bright and early with a special backyard breakfast. The kids help set the picnic table with red and blue napkins, and we enjoy pancakes topped with whipped cream and berries. Before we eat, we take a moment to raise our little American flag on the front porch and talk briefly about what the day means. It’s a simple tradition, but it sets the tone for a day filled with togetherness. This is perfect for all ages, and everyone loves it! Be sure to put a sunblock of 30+ SPF so no one gets a burn and ruins the rest of their holiday.
Neighborhood Parade Participation
One of the highlights of our day is the neighborhood parade. It’s not fancy, but it’s full of heart. The kids decorate their bikes and scooters with streamers, flags, and homemade signs. We all dress in red, white, and blue and head out to join our neighbors for a short, joyful stroll through the streets. There’s usually music, some bubbles, popsicles, and plenty of cheering. It’s a great reminder of community spirit and a fun way to get moving before the afternoon heat sets in. For the best turnout, be sure to put a little announcement with the time and meeting spot in your local Facebook group.
Fireworks and Backyard Campout
In the evening, we pack a few snacks, blankets, and bug spray and head to a local fireworks show. If we’re staying in, we light sparklers in the backyard and set up a mini campout with sleeping bags and flashlights. The kids love watching the sky light up, and we always end the night with a round of s’mores by the fire pit. The soft crackle of fireworks and the glow of marshmallows roasting is the perfect ending to our day.
