DealDash Completes the Small Projects
Getting all of the projects around the house done can be daunting. However, DealDash has some tips to help.
We all have a bit of a honey-do list at home. Sometimes it comes from our spouse and sometimes we create it ourselves, but then push the projects off. Don’t feel bad about it, this happens to everyone. Take a little time to read this article from DealDash, and then get started!
Planning and Accountability
Holding yourself accountable is key. When I decide something needs to get done, I write it on a dry erase board hanging in my kitchen. It reminds me every day that I have something on the chopping block. It’s hard to miss big those red letters when I’m sitting at our island sipping coffee.
Create a Shopping Day
Sometimes, the biggest issue is getting started. If I have a few projects that I’m putting off, I tend to go to run to the store and pick up everything I’ll need for those projects. It’s even harder to push something off when I see that it needs to be done and I already have everything I’ll need. It also helps when I get frustrated by that project popping up again, I’m already ready to go.
Try to Make it a Party
They say that many hands make light work. Ask around to see if a few friends are willing to come over and help. We completed a $6,000 kitchen remodel last year for about $1,700 because I was able to get a few people to come over and help out. You obviously need some experience and knowledge, but sometimes manpower is enough to get your project done.
When it comes to something like painting a room, there is less expertise needed. Just make sure that you take a little extra time with painter’s tape and drop cloths. Inexperienced painters are fine, they just tend to be a bit messier.
Sometimes You Need to Call in Back-Up
Sometimes, we just can’t do things on our own. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s important to realize when you’re in over your head. When you realize that, accept that it’s time to call in a professional. There’s nothing worse than thinking you can fix a small problem and having it blow up in your face (figuratively or literally).
If you honestly don’t know how to fix the problem that just came up, accept it and reach out to a professional. Trying to troubleshoot on your own could lead to a larger problem. Larger problems lead to larger bills.
