Making amends when you hurt someone’s feelings is very important. Let DealDash help guide you through the process.

Accidentally hurting someone’s feelings is, unfortunately, just a part of life. However, how you deal with these accidents can predict if you will be able to keep your relationship with them or have to move on. Hopefully, with a little help from DealDash, you will be able to repair all of your relationships when you accidentally offend or hurt someone’s feelings. Read on for more information.

What Did You Do?

Before you can make amends for whatever it was that you’ve done, you need to take a close look at what you said or did. Hurting someone’s feelings accidentally can be a very embarrassing feeling, which can lead to putting off apologizing. Trust me, it will just get harder the longer you wait to apologize, so it’s best to get it out of the way. After you’ve figured out exactly what it was that you said or did, then it’s time to figure out how to make it right. Sometimes saying sorry just isn’t enough.

How Does the Other Person Feel?

If you’re not exactly sure how to apologize, then just try to put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Try to think like they might think, and feel what they might feel. If you try to look at things from the other person’s point of view it might become easier to figure out exactly what you need to say or do to make things better between you.

Keep Things Simple

There’s no need to over-complicate things. If you’ve wronged someone, then it’s time to apologize. Depending on what exactly it was that you’ve done to elicit their hurt feelings, your apology might need to be accompanied by some actions. If you are able to put yourself in the other person’s shoes, then you’ll know what you have to do! Have a serious face-to-face conversation where you admit what you did wrong, and have a plan to fix it. Make sure that the apology is completely sincere and heartfelt.

If the person isn’t ready to forgive you, please take the news gracefully. In time they might be ready to forgive, and if you take their rejection gracefully, they will remember that in the future. Good luck, you can do it, I believe in you.
