Merry Christmas from DealDash!! The first official day of winter was a few days ago, here are some winter-related thoughts.
Winter definitely isn’t my favorite season, however, I still think it’s a wonderful time and cozy season for creativity and the New Year’s Day always brings new beginnings. Whether you’re inside huddling with your pets next to the fireplace or out playing with your kids in the snow, there’s a whole winter season’s worth of inspiration all around us, and there’s always something exciting happening or something beautiful to look at if we really try. Here are some ideas to help you get through the winter season.
Invest in the correct equipment. This is very important if you live in a cold snowy climate. Be sure that you have a good sturdy shovel (or two!) and if you have a medium to large sized driveway you will need to get a snow-blower. Don’t forget the smaller winter supplies as well. Along with the bigger equipment, you need to keep a stock of salt/sand, ice scrapers, and of course warm gloves, hats, and scarves around for when you need them. Be sure to check DealDash for these small supplies as well.
Stock up on non-perishables at the supermarket, and keep your fridge and freezer reasonably full of things that your family likes for meals. Snow is much nicer when seen from inside, wrapped in a blanket, sipping on hot chocolate; to get the most enjoyment out of a snowstorm stay inside! You’ll be glad that your pantry and fridge are stocked when a storm hits. You’ll be able to avoid that last minute rush to the supermarket, and be able to stay indoors.
Keep your electronics charged up. Put fresh batteries in your flashlights, keep candles and a lighter handy, and make sure your cell phones and tablets are all charged up. Power outages happen when ice and snow weigh down the utility wires and poles, and they aren’t always resolved quickly. Be fully prepared, and for extra preparedness get a couple external cell phone chargers in case you need a little extra power for your phone if the electricity happens to go out.
