DealDash Organizes in January

DealDash

It’s official! The holidays are over and it’s time to clean up. Here are some cleaning suggestions from DealDash.

Everyone knows about spring cleaning, but a thorough cleaning in January just might be even more important. Your house is cluttered with old toys, new gifts, decorations, and more food than you can handle. Read these ideas from DealDash and then get started.

Put Away the Tree and Decorations

Start your new year by taking down the decorations from Christmas and trying to find their place. It’s amazing how much more space you’ll have when the decorations are put away. Next, look at downsizing a bit. You can throw away those decorations that are worn out.

Also, you should look at getting rid of some of your children’s toys, and you should consider getting rid of some of your own toys as well. We all have those clothes, toys, or knickknacks that have seen better days. Consider donating the older stuff now that you have something new. I like to use the “1 in 1 out” rule at my house, and it can be a bit overwhelming with 3 kids and a giant pile of new toys and clothing.

Solutions for Cords and Cables

Consider having a set box for certain things. In our house, we have a box of a/v cords that we keep on hand. There may more than we need, but you never know when the cable you’re using will short out. Whether it’s your excess wrapping supplies, cords, or batteries, you can find a space to save them for the future without cluttering up the house. You can also pick a drawer in the kitchen, get a cutlery separator for it, and store your cords in the different sections.

Shampoo the Carpets and Clean the Vents

As we’ve been hosting Christmas over the years, we’ve found that January is the perfect time to shampoo the carpets. We opted to buy a shampooer, but you may prefer to just rent one. Either way, there’s something almost therapeutic about watching the dirt slowly disappear from your carpet. As a result, the sense of pride and accomplishment as you see your carpet return back to its original color is amazing.

Also, if you’re willing to do the deep cleaning, consider your vents and filters. It’s not something that most people think about, but your air filters typically last about 3 months. The New Year is a good time to double-check how well your filters are holding up. While you’re at it, consider the filters in your fridge and checking the batteries in your smoke detector.

DealDash’s Family Friendly New Year’s Eve Ideas

DealDash

You don’t have to be a party person to enjoy New Year’s Eve. Here are some family friendly ideas from DealDash to give you some ideas for your evening.

There comes a time for all of us when the idea of going out to spend the night in a crowded bar just isn’t appealing anymore. If you’re like me, spending the night with your family is a much better option. Read on for some suggestions from DealDash to enjoy the night with your family.

PJ Day for Everyone

Firstly, everyone loves wearing PJs, so an idea is to make it a pajama party for the kids. And also this makes life so much easier when you have to carry them to bed. The kids are already comfy and prepared, so you can just lay them down, pull the covers up, and let them doze back off. Also, this is an especially good plan for the type of person who is super excited to stay up until midnight but just can’t quite make it that late.

Invite Friends and Family for a Potluck Dinner

Next, we like to start the night with a bit of a potluck so that no one person has all of the work. As a result, many hands make the lifting light, as they say. We typically try to have an early dinner so that there is time for the kids to take a quick nap. Truth be told, some of our adults sneak a nap in as well. When you make it a pajama party, everyone can nap!

Special New Year’s Treats

Finally, our family really enjoys baking, so we make some sort of dessert every year that the family eats after the ball drops. It may be cookies with glittery sprinkles or it may be something someone found online. Therefore, the only rule is that the kids have to have some type of role in the process. My daughter loves to decorate with frosting and sprinkles.

Over the years, we’ve found that having a toast is a favorite tradition for our family. We give everyone their drink of choice (including milk or juice for the kids) so that anyone can take part. There’s a very short speech, and we raise our glass. It brings everyone together and allows people to offer a quick message.

Also, if you want to keep the energy up for most of the night, try watching “the ball drop” across the world. It’s really cool to see how everyone celebrates, and Saudi Arabia typically has one of the most beautiful shows imaginable. You won’t be disappointed.

DealDash Helps: Saving Money in the New Year

DealDash

With the new year quickly approaching you should think about your budget in 2020. Don’t worry, DealDash has some suggestions for you.

The new year is just a week or so away and you should be ready to save more money in the upcoming year. It takes both self-control and discipline to save money, especially if you are a shopper or have kids that have many needs and wants. Saving more money and spending less money is difficult but can be done. Here are a few ways to save money in 2020, from DealDash.

Save Spare Coins (Even Digitally!)

If you are a person who still carries and uses cash, this will be very simple for you. Create a jar for your change. Each time you go shopping and the cashier hands you your money back, you should save the change that you receive in your change jar. Creating a change jar is a smart way to save money. However, if you are like many people, you might do most of your transactions digitally these days. No problem!

There are many free apps out there for both Android and iOS that will “save” your “change” for you each time you use your card to pay. You can set them to save just the “change” or any amount that you choose for each transaction – for example you might want to save $1 for each transaction. You can transfer this saved money into your account whenever you choose. Some banks actually offer this for their debit cards and it deposits the change directly into your savings account. This is a great way to build up savings without doing too much planning.

Buy Your Essentials on DealDash

DealDash is known for having auctions for fancy and expensive products like cars, vacations, and other luxury items. However, they also offer many items that are used in daily life such as irons, pet bowls, reading glasses and make-up brushes. In other words, things that most people typically buy for their homes and replace every so often. Click here to check out the current items up for bid.

A wonderful way to save money in the new year is to stop making these small-to-medium purchases in the store and getting them on DealDash, instead. When you bid on these items on DealDash you earn “clock time” that is saved towards free bids, and you also have the opportunity of either winning or BINnning (Buy It Now) the item. If you win, awesome! That’s money saved right there! If you don’t win and BIN instead, you get the item at it’s listed price, free shipping, and you get to keep the clock time you earned. You can always find the listed BIN price on each auction page in the upper left corner above the picture of the item.

Limit Restaurants to Weekends

Eating breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner out a few times per week takes a lot of money. This is especially true if you are feeding multiple family members. You should cook more meals at home and bring your lunch to school or work. You will definitely save money by choosing to pack your own lunch (and kid’s/spouses) and cooking your own dinner instead of ordering takeout.

Of course, you don’t want to deprive yourself, either! In my family, we limit eating in restaurants to dinner out on Saturday night and brunch out on Sunday. We used to eat in restaurants or get take-out 3+ days of the week. However, with 5 people in our family, it was very expensive and unhealthy. This works better for us, give it a try!

Saving money does not have to be difficult and stressful. If you think about the benefits of saving money and use these tips you will be well on your way to saving a lot of money in 2020. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on a few ways to save money in the new year.

DealDash Thinks About Resolutions

DealDash

Good morning and Happy New Year, everyone! Let’s talk about some resolutions for the new year.

Most of us make resolutions during the new year, but very few of us actually end up keeping them. Why not think of some resolutions that make more sense for your lifestyle and energy level? Let’s look at some of the most common resolutions and think of some ways that we could accomplish them. Read on for more from DealDash.

Weight Loss

Trying to lose weight (and it’s companion exercising more) are the most common resolutions to make. Most people are able to keep up for a few weeks and then once February comes around their resolution is all but forgotten.

Losing weight can be difficult because the thought of losing 20, 30, or 40 pounds sounds just about impossible. The key is to break it into 5-pound weight loss goals. 5 pounds doesn’t seem too insurmountable, does it? Remember, slow and steady wins the race, and the more slowly that you lose weight the more likely it is that you will be able to keep it off for good.

Exercise More

Exercising more is another very common resolution that people make and forget about. Making a resolution to exercise more is great because there are so many different exercises that you can do for all levels of activities. Even if you’re extremely out of shape you can still get some exercise in by swimming or walking.

The key to sticking to your weight loss resolution is to make it a habit, a part of your daily routine. If you can just incorporate a walk in the morning or after dinner at night and make it part of your routine you are more likely to stick to your resolution.

Get Organized

Getting organized is another common resolution to make. Whether it’s having a cleaner house, car, or office, you can do it. I find that the key to staying clean and organized is to put things away immediately or clean things up as the mess happens. If you can get into the habit of cleaning and putting away right away it will just become a habit and you will end up with a clean and organized home.

Thanks for Reading

New Year’s resolutions can be a little tricky to get started and stick with, but you’ll be happier that you did. These three examples that I gave are just that, examples. You should make whatever resolutions that make sense for you and your lifestyle.

For a lot of people, New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. It is the perfect time to bring in the New Year with your family and friends. Choose the Location

You can’t have a party without a proper location for you and your guests. It is important to find a place that has enough room for everyone. You can have the party at your house, or you can ask a friend to host the party. Take some time to figure out where you are going to have your New Year’s Eve party. If you live in a warmer climate like California or Florida perhaps you could even have it outside. But for the rest of us, indoors accommodations are a must.

Choose Some Activities

A New Year’s Eve party will not be the same without activities. Usually, a New Year’s Eve party is centered on the ball drop and the countdown. You can choose to do any activity you want. Playing music, and bringing party favors can make the party fun. Remember to plan activities that everyone will enjoy. Some people like to play charades, card games, or even do karaoke. Plan whatever you and your guests enjoy doing and you’re sure to have a great time together.

Choose the Right Food and Drinks

Every party has food and drinks. It is best to keep in mind what your guests like when you are deciding what to buy. Drinks like champagne and wine are perfect for a New Year’s Eve party because most people like to toast to the New Year. If you’re having younger guests or non-drinkers, then be sure to have some non-alcoholic sparkling cider on hand.

You can provide your guests with a variety of foods such as snacks and appetizers. Some snack ideas are a cheese platter and vegetables with dip. It is also good to choose some foods to eat for a group meal, you could order a pizza or make a cold cuts tray and provide sub rolls for your guests to make sandwiches.
