You can order your seeds, soil, and other gardening essentials and pick them up curbside from most large stores. Also, you can order seeds from many online retailers for home delivery as well. DealDash Gets Your Vegetable Garden Started

DealDash

Everyone loves fresh home-grown fruits and veggies. This article will give you some tips on getting things started now.

Everyone loves the idea of a vegetable garden. The problem is, so many people struggle with the details. We’d like to take a few minutes to give you an overview of the process. Read on for some gardening suggestions from DealDash.

Start Early Indoors

It’s important to start early. You may not realize it, but most vegetables need some time to grow before hitting your garden. I’ve found that it’s best to plant your seeds about 6-8 weeks before you want to put them in a garden.

I typically start with a muffin tin or a paper cup. The paper cup makes it easier as I’m willing to tear it away and put it in the trash. If the sprouts grow big enough that you feel the need to move them, you can use any type of pot. I’m a fan of terracotta (clay) pots. That 6-8 week time period should be based on when you expect the last frost of the winter. This gives your plants time to germinate and start to develop roots. Having those roots will make them grow much faster when you plant them.

Join a Local Gardening Group

One of the best things that you can do is find a local gardening group. It used to be difficult to find a group at the local store. In today’s age of technology, you can simply find a Facebook group or a subreddit (forum/group) on Reddit. The people in these groups are typically surprisingly knowledgeable and willing to share advice based on their experience. I’ve always found the experience of others to be incredibly beneficial.

Find a Planting Calendar for Your Area

Finally, you should consider searching for a planting calendar. Many people have never heard of a planting calendar, but it’s exactly what you think it would be. It’s a simple tool that can help you figure out exactly when to plant (and transplant) your vegetables. Some calendars can also offer some tips and tricks that will help with the entire process.

DealDash’s Winter Snow Removal Tips

DealDash

Burrrr! If you’re in the Northeast you experienced some snow last week. Here are some snow removal tips from DealDash.

Winter is coming. For some parts of the country, it has already arrived. We want to offer you a few key tips that will make your snow removal a little easier this year. Read on for some helpful tips and information from DealDash.

Don’t “Put It Off” Til Later

More important than any other tip – do not let the snow build up before shoveling. I was once told that anyone who says that you should wait to shovel until the end of the storm has, clearly, never had to shovel 12 inches of snow. You’ll save yourself a lot of backache and annoyance if you go out every hour or so. This is especially true if you live somewhere that often gets 6+ inches at a time.

Always have the right equipment (From DealDash)

If you’ve ever tried to shovel snow with anything other than a true snow shovel, you’ll know what we mean. Get a quality pushing snow shovel. Ensure that you have snowmelt and salt at the ready. When considering salt, I prefer to purchase the pet-friendly option. It is made to be safe soft paws, but it’s also much easier on the sidewalk. If you have a dog that you have to walk outside in the snow they will appreciate your consideration for their little feet.

DealDash often has snow removal and winter equipment up for bid. Personally I have gotten a very large snow pushing-type shovel from DealDash that has made my snow removal a lot faster and also easier on my back. Click this link for shovels and handheld snow throwers. You can also find regular snow shovels, gloves, scarves, and even boots. No matter what you need for the winter, DealDash has you covered. Click here for the Home, Garden, and Tools category to browse the options available to you today.

Be Prepared

It’s not enough to have the right equipment. You need to be sure that equipment is ready to go. So don’t wait until the snow is here to check your snowblower. Make sure you have gas and oil. Test run the snowblower before the snow gets here. When you’re covered in snow, you’ll be happy that you did the troubleshooting with just leaves on the ground.

Thanks for Reading

Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article with snow removal tips. And remember, many hands make for light work. While you’re shoveling the snow, encourage the kids to come out and build a snowman. It may be one more thing to focus on, but a little help can go a long way. Let the kids have a snowball fight. Encourage building a snowman or even an igloo. By having them outside and playing, they’ll be moving a little bit of the snow out of your way and getting some fresh air and exercise at the same time.

DealDash Grills Fish Outdoors

DealDash

Grilling meat doesn’t always mean red meat! Here are some hints from DealDash for grilling fish outdoors.

The summer is here, and it is time to fire up the grill. Most people think about hamburgers, chicken, steaks, and hotdogs when they think of grilling. Grilling fish is also a good idea for summer cookouts. Many people think it is hard to cook fish on a grill, but it does not have to be. Here are a few tips for grilling fish, from DealDash.

Cook Your Fish with the Skin On

A lot of recipes call for fish to be cooked with the skin removed, which is fine because you are baking it. When you are grilling food, it involves more flipping and cooking. To stop your fish from falling apart, you should keep the skin on the fish. Keeping the skin on the fish helps the fish stay in one piece.

Use a Foil Packet

When you cook steak, you would not steam it, but steaming your fish is perfectly fine to do. It is a good way for your fish to stay moist. You can steam your fish on the grill by using a foil packet. All you have to do is get two sheets of foil that are 20 inches. Then add your fish and ingredients into the foil. You will have a nice cooked fish when it is done.

Buy a Fish Basket

A fish basket is great to use for grilling fish. It can keep fish from flaking when you cook it. Fish baskets come in different shapes and sizes. You place your fish in the basket, and it keeps it in place. Instead of flipping your fish on the grill, you can use the basket to keep the fish secure and in one place.
