DealDash Pets: Time for a Family Dog?

DealDash

It’s puppy season! If you are thinking of getting a family dog you will want to read this article from DealDash.

Getting a new pet is a very happy event for any family, and everyone needs a little happiness during these difficult times. Many parents wonder if it’s the proper time to introduce a dog into their child’s life, and this could be the right time. Of course, you will have many questions before purchasing or adopting a new puppy or dog. Here are some things to think about if you’re trying to find a dog for your child, from DealDash.

How Mature and Responsible are Your Kids?

The first thing that you will want to think about before getting a puppy or a dog for your child is how much of the work will they be able to contribute to the upkeep of the dog. If your kids are younger than 10 or so, you will have to be prepared to give them lots of help and reminders to take care of their new friend. What you really have to ask yourself is if you, the parent, are ready to take on a 10-15 year commitment. You have to keep in mind that the puppy you get for your kids now will probably still be living with you when your kids go off to college.

Do You Have the Time?

Secondly, consider your family’s lifestyle while you are pondering dog ownership. Most of us are home from work or school now and in the near future. However, when life gets back to normal, will your family be home enough to properly care for the new dog? When your child is back at school in the fall, will they have enough time to feed, walk, and play with their new dog? If you’re a very busy family that does a lot of extracurricular activities and sports, do you have the time to devote to the dog? You might be able to solve these problems somewhat by adopting a dog who is already a few years old and a little less needy than a puppy.

Is it a Wise Financial Decision? DealDash Can Help!

Finally, you will need to think about your finances. Many people nowadays are trying to scale back their spending. Dogs are often expensive once you consider the food, toys, and even veterinarian bills. If you are short on money currently, now might not be the best time to get a new pet.

However, if you are financially secure and just want to save money on pet supplies, DealDash can help! You will find lots of pet supplies on DealDash. DealDash Pets: Fun With Cats

DealDash

There are approximately 95.6 million cats living in homes in the USA! Is yours one of them? If so, DealDash has some suggestions on how to have fun with your cat.

Cats are beautiful and amazing creatures, and I am happy to have two of them – those cuties that you see in the picture above. Cats are playful and fun, and most love to play with their human friends. Here is some information and activities that you can do with your cats, from your “furr-iends” at DealDash.

Are You “Kitten” Me?

Many people make the mistake of not playing with their cats when they grow past the kitten stage. Play is great exercise for your cat as well as a bonding activity to enjoy. You don’t need any fancy lasers or expensive robot toys – one of my kitty’s favorite toys is a 3-foot strip of polar fleece on a plastic rod. You can get them at the pet store for less than $10 or make your own with materials from around the house.

Cats of all ages also like to play with yarn and strong – but please don’t leave them unattended with these as they could get tangled up and trapped. Be sure to put the string toys away in a safe spot when you’re done.

Put Your DealDash Boxes to Good Use

What have you got on DealDash lately? No matter if it was a small kitchen appliance (click here), a video game system (click here), or a piece of furniture (click here), don’t throw that box away immediately! DealDash offers items as small as a baseball up to the size of a bed that all come in boxes, and your cat will have a ball if you keep the box around for a few days for them to play in and scratch on. DealDash also offers cars and trucks up for bid, but those don’t come in boxes, of course!

Keep Your Cat’s Teeth and Coat Healthy

Did you know that cats as young as 2 can develop plaque and tartar on their teeth? A visit to the vet every year is very important to keep their teeth sharp and sparkling clean. In-between the vet visits you can help keep your kitty’s teeth healthy by mixing a bit of dental care food in with their regular food and offer dental treats. You can get these at your vet’s office.

Additionally, a smooth and shiny coat keeps your cat healthy and helps reduce hairballs. Be sure to brush your cat a few times per month. I personally use a rubber brush that collects the loose hair – the less hair your cat swallows while grooming themselves, the less likely they are to leave you a “hairball present” on the floor to clean up. Contrary to popular belief, you can give your cat a bath. If your cat has gotten into something and you want to clean them up, they make both waterless shampoo and wet wipes for cats and dogs.

Thanks “Fur” Reading the Blog

Implement some of these suggestions and your cat will thank you! I hope that you found this DealDash article helpful.

DealDash Do’s and Don’ts of Traveling with Pets

DealDash

Taking your pet along on vacation can be a great experience for you and your pet. Be sure to follow these DealDash Do’s and Don’ts of traveling with pets.

Everyone likes to take a vacation. Sometimes you may want to bring your furry friend with you when you are traveling. Pets are a big responsibility, and it takes a lot of work to keep up with them when you are visiting another place. Traveling with pets does not have to be difficult. Here are some of the do’s and don’ts of traveling with pets, from DealDash.

Do Follow the Hotel Pet Policy

Each hotel has its own rules when it comes to bringing pets with you. It is important to abide by the hotel rules for your animals. Make sure you look up the hotel that you are planning to stay at so you can know the hotel rules for pets. Following the hotel rules are imperative for the safety of others.

Don’t Bring a lot of pets

Bringing more than one or two pets can cause a lot of issues. You can have a higher cleaning fee, and you may have a hard time keeping up with your pets. Pets can easily escape from where you are staying, so it is important to bring only one or two animals to keep things in order.

Don’t Leave Your Pet Alone

Many housekeepers refuse to clean a hotel when dogs are left alone in the room. It is best to take your dog for a walk while the housekeepers are cleaning your hotel room or coordinate with the housekeeping supervisor. Leaving your pet alone can also cause havoc. They can tear up the room while you are gone. The best thing to do is to be sure that you bring a crate with you to the hotel. This way if you absolutely have to leave your pet in the room they will be safe and contained in their own little “den”.

Do Clean Up

It is important to clean up after your animal if he or she spills some food or misses the bowl. After you clean up your pet’s mess, you should let the housekeeping staff know so they can do a deep cleaning. Cleaning up after your pet will also help you avoid damages and extra cleaning fees. You should consider packing a few cleaning supplies such as a roll of paper towels, an enzyme cleaner, and some Febreeze.

DealDash Hints for Pet Hair Removal

DealDash

Having a pet is wonderful but can be messy. Don’t worry, DealDash has some hints for cleaning up pet hair.

Everyone knows that taking care of a pet is a big responsibility. Cleaning up after your pet can become stressful especially if they have fur. Many people don’t know how to get rid of the fur in their home. It may seem like your pet’s hair is everywhere. Here are some tips to clean up your pet’s fur, from DealDash.

Use Blankets and Covers

The best way to keep your furniture free of animal hair is to use a blanket or cover to protect your furniture. You don’t have to use plastic covers. There is a wide range of covers that you can purchase from any mass merchandise store that you can easily toss into the washer. You can also make your own couch covers if you have a knack for crafts. Using blankets and covers will keep the fur off of your furniture.

Use a Roll Up tape to Pick Up Pet Hair

Have you ever put on an outfit, and you realize you have pet hair all over it? The best way to pick up pet hair is to use duct tape or a roll-up tape. You can easily snag dog hair from furniture or clothes using roll-up tape. It is best to keep some duct tape handy around the house for when your pet sheds their hair.

Use a Rubber Broom

If you get a ton of dog hair in your bathroom or kitchen, a rubber broom will work perfectly. It will make picking up loose hairs easier. A rubber broom is best for tile, wood, and linoleum floors. You can get rubber brooms online or in a mass merchandise store.

Get a Vacuum From DealDash

Of course, a vacuum is also a great option for removing pet hair. There are lots of great options on DealDash, from stick vacuums to dustbusters to traditional vacuums.
