Saving money has been at the forefront of many people’s minds lately. Read this article for some frugal grocery tips from DealDash.

Life is expensive, and one thing that uses up the budget quickly is groceries. There are lots of tricks to save lots of extra money on groceries. It’s easier than you think, you will be saving money in no time. Read this new article from DealDash for the information.

Don’t Shop Every Week

First off, if you are going to the supermarket every week, you should stop. The more times that you visit the grocery store, the more money you will spend. The ideal situation would be to go once a month and buy in bulk – but that isn’t practical if you don’t have a lot of space to store the food. The second best thing to do is to go to the supermarket every other week. If you are accustomed to going to the store weekly, it might be tricky at first, but you will get used to it.

Skip the Fancy Labels

The next thing that you should do is skip the expensive name-brand foods. Buying expensive brands can take up tons of your money. Shop for generic brands when you can. Many times the store brand tastes exactly like the name brand, and might even be made in the same factory. This is true for many canned vegetables and cereals. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. Personally, I must have my favorite name-brand ketchup. However, there are plenty of food categories that I literally can’t even taste the difference, such as canned vegetables and fruit.

Make a Master Pantry List

Finally, it’s important to create a master list of the foods that you typically keep in your pantry. It’s very easy to make a list on your phone or in your email that you can consult while you are at the store. You can update the list as needed, and even share it with other members of your family if they participate in food shopping as well. A master list serves two purposes:

  1. You won’t overbuy foods that you already have, therefore wasting money.
  2. You will always have exactly the right ingredients in your pantry that you need.
