DealDash Cooks: From Scratch!

DealDash

Dinner from the freezer is fine, but scratch-made meals are so much better! Read on for more information from DealDash.

When you are looking to plan your family’s meals, you should take into consideration making some or all of your meals from scratch. There are many benefits that are obvious (and some not so obvious!) that you should know about. As always, DealDash has tips for you. Find out more about scratch cooking in the article below.

Want to Save Valuable Time?

To begin with, when you are preparing your meals from scratch, surprisingly, you’ll actually find yourself saving time. The best way to save time is to cook in an “assembly line” fashion. After planning your meals, figure out how much you will need of everything, for example:

  • 3 Cups onions
  • 4 Pounds chicken, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 6 Cups beef stock
  • Etc.

Preparing these items can take a lot of time when you do them each day, little-by-little. However, if you have planned ahead and are doing scratch cooking, you can prepare all of these things in one session. Doing monthly cooking you’ll save plenty of your time while prepping for cooking from scratch.

Your Family Will Eat Much Healthier

Next, another benefit other than saving time is you will be eating healthier once you are making meals from scratch. The great thing is that you will control exactly what goes into your meals, for example, the amount of salt, oils, etc. When you are preparing your family’s meals with pre-made things from cans, boxes, and the freezer you are serving up more fat and calories than you would if you had made the foods from scratch. This is an excellent way to cut down on some of the “bad” foods in your diet without losing the taste.

DealDash Says it’s a Great Time to Grill

DealDash

You might not be able to dine in many restaurants yet – but you can BBQ outside! Stay at home and follow these grilling suggestions from DealDash.

The weather has changed for the better, it’s summertime! That means that you can have a great time outside and cook delicious food on the grill. Having a big BBQ with family and friends isn’t advised right now due to social distancing, but you can still have a yummy grilled meal with your household. Here are some grilling suggestions, from DealDash.

Choose a Grill – DealDash Has Grills and Accessories

Firstly, of course, having an operational grill is paramount. You want to choose a grill that is a good size for the amount of food that you would typically cook. Think ahead to next summer when you will (hopefully) be able to have your typical BBQ with family, friends, and neighbors. So while you might only need a grill to cook for a few people now, a grill should last for many years, so think big.

DealDash has a nice selection of grills and grilling accessories that you can check out right here. You will find high-end, high-quality grills in different sizes. You will also find accessories to make your grilling experience better such as grilling tool sets, Bluetooth thermometers, and even wireless speakers so you can enjoy your tunes while you cook. Just click here and check them out!

Serve Your Family’s Favorites

Next, everyone always grills the same old things – hot dogs and hamburgers. Those are yummy, of course, but why not think out of the box and cook your family’s favorite foods? Chicken drumsticks, shrimp, and pork chops are all awesome on the grill.

And don’t forget the fruits and veggies! Just because it isn’t typically put on the grill doesn’t mean that you can’t grill it! Try pineapple slices, summer squash, corn, peppers, and asparagus are all awesome on the grill. Grilling smaller or odd-shaped fruits and veggies can be difficult, though. You can get a basket meant for grilling or a high-temperature safe grill mat. However, you don’t need these things to make it work. You can always use foil, it just takes a little longer because you have to make a little tray with sides so nothing slides off.

DealDash Gets Frugal With Groceries

DealDash

Saving money has been at the forefront of many people’s minds lately. Read this article for some frugal grocery tips from DealDash.

Life is expensive, and one thing that uses up the budget quickly is groceries. There are lots of tricks to save lots of extra money on groceries. It’s easier than you think, you will be saving money in no time. Read this new article from DealDash for the information.

Don’t Shop Every Week

First off, if you are going to the supermarket every week, you should stop. The more times that you visit the grocery store, the more money you will spend. The ideal situation would be to go once a month and buy in bulk – but that isn’t practical if you don’t have a lot of space to store the food. The second best thing to do is to go to the supermarket every other week. If you are accustomed to going to the store weekly, it might be tricky at first, but you will get used to it.

Skip the Fancy Labels

The next thing that you should do is skip the expensive name-brand foods. Buying expensive brands can take up tons of your money. Shop for generic brands when you can. Many times the store brand tastes exactly like the name brand, and might even be made in the same factory. This is true for many canned vegetables and cereals. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. Personally, I must have my favorite name-brand ketchup. However, there are plenty of food categories that I literally can’t even taste the difference, such as canned vegetables and fruit.

Make a Master Pantry List

Finally, it’s important to create a master list of the foods that you typically keep in your pantry. It’s very easy to make a list on your phone or in your email that you can consult while you are at the store. You can update the list as needed, and even share it with other members of your family if they participate in food shopping as well. A master list serves two purposes:

  1. You won’t overbuy foods that you already have, therefore wasting money.
  2. You will always have exactly the right ingredients in your pantry that you need.

DealDash Saves Money By Using Leftovers

DealDash

Don’t throw money away! Use your leftovers. Read this article for some tips from DealDash.

Many families make more food than they need and end up with leftovers. This, unfortunately, frequently results in food being thrown away and wasted. Think of the wasted money and resources! We can do better than that, so here are some tips from DealDash which will assist you in finding ways to use leftovers.

Stews is Good Anytime

First, if you’ve got leftover vegetables and a small amount of meat, you’re in the perfect position to make stew. You can use leftover beef to make a nice hearty beef stew. You simply need to chop up some carrots, potatoes, and onions to add to the beef. Additionally, you can add other ingredients that are either leftover or fresh such as mushrooms, celery, or even other meat such as bacon!

Typically people tend to eat stew in the fall or winter, but I think that stew is good anytime! Pair it with a fresh garden salad and some bread and you will have a dinner your family will love to devour.

Speaking of Bead

Next, after you have finished your stew, you might have leftover bread. Not to worry, it won’t go to waste. It’s easy to do many things with it including making croutons for salads. Making a delightful French toast for breakfast is another way that you can use your leftover bread. If your bread is too far gone or there isn’t much to work with you can always give animals a treat. You can break it into small pieces and take the family on a walk around the local pond or lake. The ducks that live there will enjoy eating your stale leftover bread.

Make Smoothies With a Blender From DealDash

Finally, I don’t know about you, but my family has a fruit problem. We love fruit so much that we end up buying more than we can eat before it spoils! We were upset each week that we would end up throwing fruit away when it got mushy. However, a few months ago I had an idea. I took all of the almost spoiled fruit, cut it up, and put it in the freezer. Once I had a few different bags of frozen fruit I made smoothies for my kids. They absolutely loved them!

You don’t need a recipe or specific fruit to make a smoothie. Personally, I find that they taste better if you have at least 3-5 different types of fruit. However, you can use as many (or few!) as you like. Some of my family’s favorite fruits to put in a smoothie are strawberries, blackberries, and mangoes. You’ll need a blender to make a smoothie, and DealDash has them. Click here to see the blenders. You will find many kitchen items and small appliances in the Kitchen and Dining category. Just click here!

This is really just the start of the items that you can re-purpose your leftovers into. Great news, you won’t be wasting food anymore. You will be saving money and resources at the same time, which is a wonderful thing.

DealDash Cooks: Lots of Veggies for Kids

DealDash

Vegetables are healthy for everyone, especially growing kids. Here are some ways to increase the veggie consumption in your house, from DealDash.

Each and every parent wants their kids to be healthy, of course. However, getting them to do things like eat more vegetables can be difficult and time-consuming. Here are some suggestions from DealDash to get your kids excited about vegetables.

Kids in the Kitchen

First, to get your kids excited about veggies, let them take some ownership. You can involve your child in not only meal planning but also meal preparation. People, especially kids, dislike thinking that they don’t have choices when it comes to food. Avoid the power struggle by letting your child participate in meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep. By involving your child in this process they will feel like they are getting to make their own choices. And they are – with a little guidance from mom and dad!

Use Dips and Sauce to Entice

Next, let’s face it, some vegetables just aren’t very tasty by themselves. This is solved by serving vegetables with sauces, spices, and dips. Most kids and adults enjoy eating things like carrots, celery, and cucumbers by themselves, but other veggies need a little spicing up. Most vegetables’ taste is vastly improved with the addition of salt, pepper, and either butter or olive oil. Some vegetables can become tastier with some ranch or cheese sauce, or even a squirt of lemon or lime juice. Do a little experimenting to see what your child likes.

Hide Them (With Help From DealDash)

Finally, sometimes you just have to hide those veggies to get your kids to eat them. As parents, occasionally you might run into a stubborn kid who just won’t try your vegetables. However, since you just want the best nutrition for your child, you just have to hide those veggies! The easiest way to hide the offending vegetables is in a smoothie. Most kids love a fresh (or frozen) fruit smoothie, and it’s an excellent place to hide things that they normally wouldn’t eat, like spinach or kale. You will need a blender or food processor to make your smoothies.

DealDash has blenders, mixers, and food processors up for auction. You will find high-quality and famous brand blenders at this link right here. DealDash doesn’t just have blenders, though! You will find hundreds of items in the Kitchen and Dining category. Just click this link to browse.

Getting your kids to eat more vegetables could seem like an impossible task. However, it’s not a big problem if you follow these suggestions. Remember, as a last resort, you can hide veggies in a smoothie. A cup of frozen fruit, the veggie of your choice, a small container of yogurt, and a splash of milk is all you need!
