The summer is winding down, but there is still plenty of time to have a family picnic. Don’t forget to invite your elderly relatives! Here are some tips for including everyone in your family, from DealDash.
With the nice summer weather still upon us, you will likely be thinking of something fun to do with your family. One thing that would be a great deal of fun is going on a family picnic. This is a great activity that includes everyone from the youngest toddler to the oldest grandparent. Here are some tips for planning a great family picnic, from DealDash.
Who’s Coming to the Picnic?
You will first need to decide who all is going to be going to your picnic. This is important so you will be able to figure out how much food to prepare and how many supplies like paper plates and utensils that you will need to bring. This way you know you will have enough of everything for the picnic.
Prepare the Food According to Who is Coming
Next you will want to decide what to prepare for the picnic. You will want to try and make offerings that everyone is going to enjoy as well as being able to eat. Again, getting a head count of people coming to the picnic will assist you in being able to know exactly how much food you need to prepare for the picnic.
If you have toddlers or other picky children coming you might want to adjust your menu to have a few offerings for them. Personally, I know of a few kids (not mine!) who strictly eat chicken nuggets and fruit, so if you have a family member coming that is similar, make sure that there is something for them to eat.
Choose a Location
You will also need to find a place to have the picnic. Will you have it in your backyard or are your planning on going somewhere like a park to enjoy a day out with your family? If you are going somewhere other than your own home you will want to make sure you have paid any required fees for enjoying the space.
Additionally, if you are having family join you that are very young or very old it can help determine where you have your picnic as well. Having a picnic site that you have to hike to get to, or having a picnic directly on the beach sand might be impossible with a baby or elderly family member.
Invite the Family Early
Make sure that you invite everyone that you want to come to the picnic with enough time for them to reply. This way you will have the best chance of everyone being able to come to your family picnic. This is especially important if you have an elderly family member that lives in an assisted living facility. You will need to make sure of the days and times that you will be able to sign them out that won’t conflict with their schedule.
