DealDash Makes a Great Pizza

DealDash

Everyone loves pizza. DealDash has some tips for making a great pizza at home.

Does your family want pizza but you prefer to stay at home? If you’re looking for a great way to prepare a pizza at home, DealDash is here to help. Here are some simple tips and information for making a delicious pizza at home.

Use Fresh Ingredients

Firstly, you could just get a pizza-making kit from the store. However, that isn’t going to taste as good as if you use fresh ingredients. You can buy pre-made dough from the bakery at the supermarket, or you can make some yourself. Making a sauce is simple, but if you prefer something a little easier you could cut down on a few steps by using tomato paste with canned and crushed tomatoes. Grating your own cheese is simple and will taste so much better than using the pre-shredded kind. And for the toppings, fresh mushrooms, peppers, and onions will taste awesome and add a fresh and healthy aspect to your pizza.

Use a Pizza Stone

Next, you can bake your pizza on a rack or cookie sheet, but you will have a better experience if you use a pizza stone. Be sure to pre-heat your pizza stone. It’s so easy, just place the pizza stone in the oven, and when it is at the same temperature as the kitchen then turn on the oven to the proper temperature. Be sure to let it reach room temperature before turning on the oven if it’s been somewhere cold like the fridge. This is because rapid warming can cause the stone to crack. After the stone is preheated you can take it out of the oven, place the pizza ingredients on it, and then bake as directed.

DealDash Loves Healthy Snacks

DealDash

Do you love healthy snacks? DealDash does! Snacking can be part of a healthy diet. Here are some suggestions for healthy snacks.

There’s nothing wrong with snacking, especially if you choose foods that are healthy. No one likes being hungry between meals, even those of us who are trying to get into shape. Read these suggestions from DealDash to get some ideas for healthy snacks.

Try a Healthy Snack Plate

Firstly, I feel like if you are actually hungry, something like a carrot or apple doesn’t really make you feel less hungry. However, if you put a selection of very healthy foods on a plate it feels like you are actually feeding your hunger instead of just nibbling. For example, you can put carrot and celery sticks, apple wedges, and pepper rings on a plate together and it’s not only cute and colorful, but feels like more of a meal since you are having multiple colors, textures, and both sweet and savory.

DealDash List of Yummy Snack Suggestions

Next, if you aren’t feeling like plain cut up fruits and veggies, here are a couple of snacks that are a little more creative:

Cut up veggies, but with homemade ranch dip!! Having a ranch dip on the side makes your snack feel more like a party! It’s very simple to make, you just need ranch powder and low-fat sour cream. Your homemade ranch dip will only take a couple of minutes to make and has less than 100 calories.

Homemade trail mix. Now, don’t try and take a “shortcut” by getting a pre-made trail mix at the store, it’s full of fat, calories, and sugar. That’s not the healthy snack that we are looking for. Make it yourself at home. Instead of peanuts, use almonds. Instead of milk chocolate bits, use a very tiny amount of cut-up dark chocolate. You can also add lots of raisins, dried cranberries, dried apple slices, and dried strawberries. This trail mix is delicious and much healthier than the original version.

Homemade salsa is both delicious and healthy. There are tons of different recipes out there, but the base of most of them are crushed tomatoes, garlic, lime, salt, and green peppers. All of those items, with the exception of salt, are extremely healthy! Just use a pinch of salt or even one of the “salt alternatives” that you can find in the spices section at the supermarket.

DealDash Saves Money By Using Leftovers

DealDash

Don’t throw money away! Use your leftovers. Read this article for some tips from DealDash.

Many families make more food than they need and end up with leftovers. This, unfortunately, frequently results in food being thrown away and wasted. Think of the wasted money and resources! We can do better than that, so here are some tips from DealDash which will assist you in finding ways to use leftovers.

Stews is Good Anytime

First, if you’ve got leftover vegetables and a small amount of meat, you’re in the perfect position to make stew. You can use leftover beef to make a nice hearty beef stew. You simply need to chop up some carrots, potatoes, and onions to add to the beef. Additionally, you can add other ingredients that are either leftover or fresh such as mushrooms, celery, or even other meat such as bacon!

Typically people tend to eat stew in the fall or winter, but I think that stew is good anytime! Pair it with a fresh garden salad and some bread and you will have a dinner your family will love to devour.

Speaking of Bead

Next, after you have finished your stew, you might have leftover bread. Not to worry, it won’t go to waste. It’s easy to do many things with it including making croutons for salads. Making a delightful French toast for breakfast is another way that you can use your leftover bread. If your bread is too far gone or there isn’t much to work with you can always give animals a treat. You can break it into small pieces and take the family on a walk around the local pond or lake. The ducks that live there will enjoy eating your stale leftover bread.

Make Smoothies With a Blender From DealDash

Finally, I don’t know about you, but my family has a fruit problem. We love fruit so much that we end up buying more than we can eat before it spoils! We were upset each week that we would end up throwing fruit away when it got mushy. However, a few months ago I had an idea. I took all of the almost spoiled fruit, cut it up, and put it in the freezer. Once I had a few different bags of frozen fruit I made smoothies for my kids. They absolutely loved them!

You don’t need a recipe or specific fruit to make a smoothie. Personally, I find that they taste better if you have at least 3-5 different types of fruit. However, you can use as many (or few!) as you like. Some of my family’s favorite fruits to put in a smoothie are strawberries, blackberries, and mangoes. You’ll need a blender to make a smoothie, and DealDash has them. Click here to see the blenders. You will find many kitchen items and small appliances in the Kitchen and Dining category. Just click here!

This is really just the start of the items that you can re-purpose your leftovers into. Great news, you won’t be wasting food anymore. You will be saving money and resources at the same time, which is a wonderful thing.

DealDash: Fit Some Extra Fitness into Your Day

DealDash

Since we are all home now it’s a great time to fit a little extra fitness into your day! DealDash has some ideas to get you started.

Feeling stressed about the current situation is to be expected, and when many people are stressed they turn to food (usually carbs) for comfort. If you are doing a lot of comfort eating you should look for ways to add some extra fitness into your day.  Here are a few simple ways, from DealDash.

Get a Whole Body Workout

First, fitting extra fitness into your life is a great idea – especially if you try to maximize your time. Instead of standing in place while you are lifting hand weights, march in place. If you are able to go outside for a walk, strap some ankle weights onto your legs. This way you are working double the muscles at the same time! It’s a real time-saver.

Do Your Reps

Doing just one sit-up or push-up isn’t going to do a lot for your overall fitness (though it’s better than nothing!). This is why you need to do reps. When you are first starting out, you can do 5 reps of each exercise. As this gets easier and easier, you can raise it to 10, 15, and then 20. Go slowly, and increase your reps gradually over the next few weeks. If you’re not going to do the number of reps required to be successful you won’t see the results that you’re looking for.

Be Entertained, Fit in Fitness

Also, with all of the extra time that you are spending at home instead of commuting, hanging out with friends, or shopping, you are probably watching TV or movies at home. This might be a little boring for you, but it can be good for your fitness. It’s very easy to fit a little fitness into your day while you are watching TV. If you are watching live TV, you can put in a few reps of sit-ups or push-ups. On the other hand, if you are watching pre-recorded shows, you can do something easy like leg lifts while you watch your show. For added resistance, add ankle weights.

Fit Fitness in the Kitchen With DealDash

Finally, eating the right foods is very important when you want to get fit. Adding in more fruit, vegetables, and lean meats such as skinless chicken to your diet. Eating well will make you feel good about your choices, and is an easy way to boost your fitness.

DealDash Cooks: Hard-Boiled Eggs

DealDash

If you’re looking for delicious and nutritious, you’ve come to the right place! Read all about hard-boiled eggs in this new article from DealDash.

Hard-boiled eggs are the perfect food for the on-the-go person who is looking to eat healthily. Whether you have time to make a meal or not, adding hard-boiled eggs to your list of options is a great idea. Read on for some “egg”cellent suggestions, from DealDash.

Making the Eggs

To start off, making hard-boiled eggs is surprisingly easy. First, place the eggs in a pot and cover them with water. The water should reach, roughly, an inch above the eggs. Increase the heat to bring the water to a boil, then let the water do the work. The real trick here is to figure out how long to cook them. A “hard-boiled” egg needs to be cooked for about 8 minutes. This leaves the yolk and the egg-white firm. If you’d like a bit of a runny yolk, you can cook the egg for as little as 4 minutes.

Now that you know how to boil an egg, we want to point out a few ways that you can take advantage of having these eggs on hand. The best way to take advantage of having hard-boiled eggs on hand is to simply cut them open and add a bit of salt or pepper for flavor.

Make Egg Salad for a Sandwich

If you’re looking for other options, you can make an easy egg salad by cutting the eggs up and adding mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Sometimes I like to add celery or onion to it as well. You can find a number of recipes online for egg salad that doesn’t use mayonnaise at all. I’ve found that using avocados in my egg salad eliminates the need for mayonnaise altogether. It also makes the salad extra creamy.

Salads are Better With Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs make a great addition to any salad. I like to cut them in half or quarters and place them on top. Using hard-boiled eggs is most common in a chef salad, but I like adding them to my Cobb salads too.

WIN or BIN Cooking Supplies from DealDash

Kitchen and Dining is one of my favorite DealDash categories. You will find things such as small appliances, cutlery, and decorative kitchen items. If you don’t win an auction for the kitchen item you wanted, don’t despair. DealDash has a handy “Buy It Now” option on each item. You can always BIN (Buy It Now), by paying BIN price for the item and you will receive all of your bids back that you spent on that item. So, if you bid on a kitchen item that you are planning on buying anyway, you are bidding with no risk to your wallet. When you BIN the item you want you will receive each and every bid back that you spent on that particular auction.
