DealDash Kids: Fun Family Holiday Activities

DealDash

Tis the season to spend quality time with family. If you’re running out of fun holiday activities to do with your family, look no further.

It’s the perfect time of year to make lasting lifetime memories with your family. There’s nothing wrong with sitting around and watching TV sometimes, but fun activities will really stand out in everyone’s mind. Here are some great holiday activities to do with your family, from DealDash.

Write Letters to Santa

My kids love writing letters to Santa Claus. Our local community organization made it a point to respond to the letters that we sent them. It was a well-written, personalized letter that didn’t make any promises about gifts. The kids loved getting a personalized note from Santa Claus. See if there is an organization in your area that does this as well. You can try asking at your local library, elementary school, or church. There are also places online you can order a postcard from Santa, as well.

Wrap Christmas Presents

Wrapping presents might seem like a chore to an adult, but kids love to wrap presents. If you have more than one child you can ask if they would like to wrap the other’s present. Of course, only do this if your kids are old enough to keep a secret! If they are an only child or can’t keep a secret, ask if they would like to wrap Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt/Uncle/Cousin’s present. My daughter is 8 and loves to wrap her brother’s presents. She not only thinks it’s fun but also enjoys knowing a secret the boys don’t know!

Decorate With DealDash

As with wrapping presents, decorating can be a chore for adults and a joy for children. DealDash has some great things to use to decorate for the holidays. You will find a Christmas train, lighting strips, smart bulbs and many other decorative items on DealDash.  Or you can always check out the Home, Garden, and Tools category, located here.

The Pickle Game

We’ve also picked up the German tradition of “hiding the pickle”. You purchase a pickle shaped ornament and hide it on the Christmas tree. You give the “go” and the kids search the Christmas tree for the ornament. Whoever finds it first wins a prize. The following year, the person who won gets to hide the ornament for everyone else to find.

DealDash Kids: Fun Places to Go When it’s Cold Out

DealDash

Depending on where you are, winter might be in full force. It even snowed a bit here over the weekend! Kids still need to play, here are a few ideas from DealDash to help.

As it gets colder out, it can be difficult to find fun activities for your children. While playing in the snow can be fun, it can quickly become too much for your youngsters. We wanted to offer some alternative ideas that can make a snow day perfect. Read on for some great suggestions from DealDash.

Indoor Exercise

If you’re looking to burn some energy, find a local bowling alley or skating rink to go to. Using the bumpers at the bowling alley will make it fun for the whole family. It will also give your child a sense of accomplishment knowing that he/she was able to knock the pins down consistently. Roller skating, on the other hand, can be difficult, but it offers the opportunity for a full-body exercise and is sure to burn a ton of energy.

Crafts are Always a Hit

If you’re looking for something a little calmer, consider taking a snow day to learn a new craft. Everyone knows that you can go to the local library to find books, but most people don’t realize that the library offers a ton of classes. You may also want to consider the local craft store. You may luck out and find that they’re offering classes on knitting, crocheting, etc.

Walk the Mall

Another low-impact exercise opportunity is going to the local mall. Ideally, you can window shop rather than buying toys, but the opportunity to walk inside is tough to beat. Most malls also have play areas where you can relax while your little one runs around.

Toys and Games From DealDash

You don’t always have to go somewhere, why not have fun in your own home? This can be easily accomplished with a little help from DealDash. Take a peek at the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category. Here you will find fun things like race cars and Lego sets, toys you can ride on (try in the basement!), and board games. These things are perfect for days when it’s just too yucky to go outside.

Thanks for Reading

Finally, consider making someone else feel good while it’s cold outside. If your child is old enough, go to a local kennel or even a pet shop. See if you can volunteer to walk the animals or even pull them out to play with them. It’s a great stress reliever, and you’ll be able to offer some love to an animal that seems to be forgotten.

Thanks for reading, and remember to check DealDash for awesome indoor toys. Have a great day, and happy bidding, everyone!

DealDash’s Super Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Everyone

DealDash

Stockings are one of my favorite parts of Christmas. Read on for some stocking stuffer ideas from DealDash.

Many families have a tradition of hanging stockings up for Christmas and a stocking wouldn’t be complete without having a few small gifts and candy inside. Below are some stocking stuffer ideas for everyone, from DealDash.

Cute Ideas for Kids

We’ve found that offering small toys are always a hit. Try using something out of the ordinary – putty, a yoyo, a Rubik’s Cube. Try to add some things that kids don’t seem to get a hold of much these days.

Our family also offers up favorite candies. This is something that’s simple to plan out but still allows the chance to make it a unique gift. When each child gets their favorite candy bar, it reminds them that you’re paying attention to the details. It can also be fun to add some candies that they don’t see very often. Try shopping at your local Asian grocery store or the “World” section at your supermarket.

Teenagers

Girls:

  • Makeup and/or Nail polish
  • Skincare
  • Face mask
  • Bath bombs
  • Body lotion

Our family has made it a point to remind the girls about the importance of self-care and encourage treating themselves to an at-home spa day. However, not all girls are into the “girly” stuff. You could substitute a new sketchbook, some Sharpies, a Funko figurine, or a special Christmas ornament with one of their hobbies depicted.

Boys:

  • Cards (Pokemon, Magic, card game)
  • Books or Magazines
  • Small gift card for a new app or a few MP3s

Either:

Our family has also developed traditions. Rather than offering the world’s coolest gadget, we focus on building a tradition. This might be a coin from a special place or something from the year they were born. These things are more about the thought than the gift itself.

Adults

  • Power Block (mobile phone charger)
  • Gloves
  • Gift Cards
  • Higher-end pens
  • Swiss Army Knife

Something everyone can use

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Socks
  • Phone accessories – case and/or car holder
  • Netflix/Hulu subscriptions
  • A good gag gift to make them laugh

Thanks for Reading

Our family makes it a point to stuff stockings with gifts that people want, but that we (the gifters) would feel isn’t a very good gift. We can all use a new pair of socks, but who wants socks to be their main Christmas gift? Adding in the option of a gag gift is always fun as well. We love to make each other laugh when opening gifts.  Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on stocking stuffers. I hope that it was helpful to you.

Let’s Have a DealDash Pool Party This Summer!

DealDash

Here it is, the end of July, it’s time for a pool party! Here are some ideas from DealDash to make your pool party a success.

A pool party is the best activity for the summer. You can cool off by taking a dip in the pool and is fun for all ages. Enjoy water games, snacks, and bond with your family and friends.  Planning a pool party is easier than you think. Here are some tips for throwing a pool party this summer, from DealDash.

Choose a Date

Choosing the right date for your pool party is important, especially if you have an outdoor pool. It is important to check the weather for rain or thunderstorms. It is best to not choose days that have extremely high temperatures because it can cause heat exhaustion. Planning your party on the weekend is beneficial for all of your guests because most people are off of work. Choosing the right date will make planning your pool party easier.

Find a Pool

If you have a pool at your house you can have the party there, of course. If you don’t have a pool it is good to host a party at your local neighborhood pool. Different pools require party and reservation fees, so it is important to plan ahead. Depending on the rules of the facility you may be able to rent the whole pool or have a special space for your event. You can also have your pool party at the Boy’s and Girl’s club, too.

Choose Fun Games

The best thing about having a pool party is playing different water games. You can play games like Marco Polo, Minnows, or sharks. These are fun games that all ages can play without needing any toys. You can also have a water balloon toss or have a race with your friends in the pool.  Water games will make the party more interesting and fun.

DealDash’s Summer Food Suggestions

DealDash

Summer is upon us, and it’s time for some tasty treats. Here are a few suggestions from DealDash.

The hot and bright summer is here and it is time to fire up your grill. Many people across the United States have cookouts and parties for all summer long. This is the perfect time to enjoy time with your family. When you have a small gettogether, you need good food. Here are 3 suggestions for summer food, from DealDash.

 Grilled Sausages

You cannot have a family cookout without some type of meat. Grilled sausages are a tasty meal that you can serve to your guests. You can use any type of sausages such as Italian, beef, or chicken sausage. Once they are finished cooking, you put the sausage on a hot dog but and top it off with your favorite toppings. If you have any vegetarian family members they make many different types of “mock” meat that you can grill, as well.

Lemon and Raspberry Rosé Sparkler

July is one of the hottest months, and if you plan to have a cookout you need refreshing drinks. One of the most popular drinks is the lemon and raspberry rosé sparkler. You can relax and sip on this pink drink with your guests. All you need is raspberries, sugar, lemon juice, a bottle of rosé wine, sliced lemons and raspberries. Combine these ingredients together and you have a delicious summer drink.

 Strawberry S’mores

S’more is a delicious summer dessert, and it is perfect for the hot days of summer. Many people have heard of chocolate s’mores. Strawberry s’mores have the same great taste and are a yummy food to serve your guests. You need toasted marshmallows, Chips Ahoy, and sliced strawberries. Once you have all of the ingredients, you put them together and serve them to your guests.
