DealDash Crafts: Valentine’s Day Creativity

DealDash

Valentine’s Day is the perfect holiday to put your creativity to good use. DealDash has some great ideas, so read this article and get creative!

Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly. While everyone focuses on a romantic relationship, I like to make sure the kids are able to celebrate as well. We focus on making simple crafts that the kids can complete independently. These can be for decoration or gifts for their loved ones. Read on for some fun ideas from DealDash.

Heart Garland

One of our go-to crafts is homemade heart garland. It’s a bit of a play on the candy hearts that you can buy in the store. We cut construction paper into hearts and then string them together. I like to add a quick phrase or note that resembles what you’ll find on those candied hearts. It’s simple and makes for a great decoration or a quick gift.

Accordion Card

Another favorite requires a bit more work. It’s called an accordion card. You start by cutting a 1 inch wide strip of construction paper and fold it into an accordion. On each square that you’ve made, you write a letter to spell out “this much”. Then cut out the shape of a hand. We like to trace our hands. Finally, attach one hand on each side of the accordion. On the “front” hand, write “I love you”. In the end, the card reads “I love you this much” and as the person opens the card, the hands spread further apart.

Heart Person

Following the accordion idea, we like to make a heart-figure. It’s something simple but cute. First, we cut out a heart shape and draw a face on it. My kids love to use googly eyes rather than drawing eyes. We make an accordion fold on 4 strips of paper. I typically aim for about ½ inch wide. Then add small hearts that function as the hands and feet of the heart. It can be a craft on its own or you can write a note on the back to make it function as a card or gift.

DealDash: New Year, New Hobby

DealDash

Hobbies are a super stress-reliever and can make you feel more positive about the future. Let DealDash give you some suggestions on how to explore your options.

You probably have a hobby or three that you love, such as bidding on DealDash. However, trying new things, learning new facts, and practicing skills can help your brain stay vital. Read these tips and ideas from DealDash to get you started on your new hobby.

Tips on Finding a New Hobby

Even if you’re excited about finding a new hobby it can seem a little daunting. However, finding a new hobby can be easy and fun after you dive in. You might wonder how to find your new hobby, and you’ll be pleased to know that there are various ways.

First, look around and see what hobbies you have currently. Why not expand on a hobby you already love? For example, if you like reading, why not try writing? Or if you currently enjoy basketball as a hobby, why not take up swimming as well? Take what you already like, and expand upon it – sim.

No Hobby? No Problem!

Not having a current hobby doesn’t mean that you can’t pick one up quickly. If you don’t have a hobby now that means that you have extra time to try a few and see which ones you like best. The first thing to do is to make a list. Add things that you have done in the past and enjoyed, and also things that you want to try. For example, did you join a friend who invited you to go bowling once? Maybe you enjoyed it but didn’t think to pick it up as a hobby at the time. Now’s your chance!

Explore the Options on DealDash

Finally, DealDash can help you find a new hobby. You’ll want to begin by visiting the Hobbies, Toys, Outdoors, and Games category. Just click here. As you’re browsing, look at each item and think about how it would feel to learn more about it and give it a try. For example, DealDash often has autographed sports memorabilia up for bid. Think about it! How awesome would it be to start either an autograph collection or a sports memorabilia collection? Explore your options, give it a try!

DealDash Keeps the Christmas Spirit All Year

DealDash

It may be halfway through January, but now is a great time to spread some happiness. Read on for some excellent ideas from DealDash.

Christmas has come and gone, and now you have a lot of new items to add to your already cluttered house. However, let’s try to keep the Christmas spirit going with kindness. Here’s a way to cut down on some of that clutter while enjoying your new gifts. Read on for some helpful ideas from DealDash.

Check your closet

Most people get a few new shirts, pairs of pants, or jackets as part of their Christmas haul. Our family typically tries to find one item to donate for each item that we receive. Look for the things that you haven’t worn this year. One of my favorite ways to track that is to have all of my hangers face the same direction at the start of the year. When I’ve worn something, I turn the hanger in the opposite direction.

Either way, consider donating the things that are still in good condition to a local organization. If you’re not interested in the trip to the thrift store, consider one of those “planet” donation boxes that you’ll find all over town. They make things convenient but still give you the chance to help someone out.

Check the Toy Chest

Much like our clothing, we quickly overload on toys for the kids (and dogs). Take a hard look at what your kids are playing with. See if you can pass those toys forward that aren’t as popular at your house. If your children are old enough, post-Christmas is the perfect time to help them get in on the project. Explain to them that you want to pass along that joy to another child. Remind them how happy they were to get something new on Christmas morning and that they could help give that feeling to another child.

Check the Kitchen

Somehow, we always end up getting wine glasses and coffee mugs as part of our Christmas gifts. I’m sure you can guess what we like to do in our spare time! Because of that, we quickly run out of space. These would be something that is easy to regift. If you’re not a fan of regifting or donating something like glasses and mugs, consider changing the layout of your kitchen. There are great examples on Pinterest of how you can set up a “mug wall”.

If You Didn’t Get What You Wanted, Check DealDash

Finally, as we all know, sometimes we don’t get what we really wanted during the holidays. That’s not a problem with DealDash. There are a few things that are hard to gift to people, such as a computer or video game system – things change so quickly it’s hard to know what the giftee really wants. I suspect this is why there are so many returns on the day after Christmas – the gifter tried their best but didn’t get the correct style or electronic spec. DealDash is here to help! If you wanted an electronic like a computer, game system, tablet, or speaker, simply check the Electronics and Computers category. DealDash Family: Indoor Winter Fun

DealDash

With the fun and excitement of the holidays over, your family might be complaining of boredom. No problem, DealDash has some ideas for fun places to go when it’s cold out.

Let’s face it, the younger members of your family have probably already gotten tired of the mountain of toys that they unwrapped just a few weeks ago. The mall can be fun, but you can only go there so many times. Read on for some fun places from DealDash to go that won’t have your family saying “I’m borrrred!”

The Arcade

Going to the arcade might seem like a very old idea to those of us who grew up in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. However, the kids of today still like going to the arcade – especially if your arcade does a ticket/prize swap. For the younger kids, there are some games that you might be familiar with as an app on your phone, for older kids, there are games such as basketball and giant Connect Four, and for us Gen X and Y’ers, there are classic video games. When my family was on vacation this past summer to Utah, they even had nickel arcades! You can have a lot of fun with just a few dollars.

The Aquarium

Next, the aquarium is one of my family’s favorite activities. Most medium-sized cities have one, and they are usually reasonably priced. We like the aquarium so much that we always buy a yearly pass so we can go as many times as we want for free throughout the year. Typically, if you plan on going to the aquarium at least three times per year then buying the yearly pass makes good financial sense. The aquarium is another place that can be fun for the whole family from kids to seniors. My mother-in-law always enjoys going with us when she is in town. Just be sure to do the math to see if buying a yearly pass makes sense financially.

Jumpy Places

Jumpy places have been popping up all over the place in my area. These are places that have indoor trampolines, big “pools” full of foam, and air-filled structures for kids to climb, slide, and play on. This is the only place on the list that I have included that the adults in the family might not enjoy. However, depending on the facility, usually, the adults are allowed to jump on the trampolines, too.

Want to Stay Home? Get Activities on DealDash

Finally, if you are the type of person who prefers to stay home when the weather is bad, then DealDash has a solution. There are plenty of fun things on DealDash that can be won in auction or BINned (Buy It Now) afterward. You will find things like slot car racing sets, Legos, video game systems, and board games. Click here to check out one of my favorite categories – Toys, Hobbies, Outdoors, and Games.  You will find all of the activities that I mentioned and so many more! DealDash Kids: Fun Family Holiday Activities

DealDash

Tis the season to spend quality time with family. If you’re running out of fun holiday activities to do with your family, look no further.

It’s the perfect time of year to make lasting lifetime memories with your family. There’s nothing wrong with sitting around and watching TV sometimes, but fun activities will really stand out in everyone’s mind. Here are some great holiday activities to do with your family, from DealDash.

Write Letters to Santa

My kids love writing letters to Santa Claus. Our local community organization made it a point to respond to the letters that we sent them. It was a well-written, personalized letter that didn’t make any promises about gifts. The kids loved getting a personalized note from Santa Claus. See if there is an organization in your area that does this as well. You can try asking at your local library, elementary school, or church. There are also places online you can order a postcard from Santa, as well.

Wrap Christmas Presents

Wrapping presents might seem like a chore to an adult, but kids love to wrap presents. If you have more than one child you can ask if they would like to wrap the other’s present. Of course, only do this if your kids are old enough to keep a secret! If they are an only child or can’t keep a secret, ask if they would like to wrap Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt/Uncle/Cousin’s present. My daughter is 8 and loves to wrap her brother’s presents. She not only thinks it’s fun but also enjoys knowing a secret the boys don’t know!

Decorate With DealDash

As with wrapping presents, decorating can be a chore for adults and a joy for children. DealDash has some great things to use to decorate for the holidays. You will find a Christmas train, lighting strips, smart bulbs and many other decorative items on DealDash.  Or you can always check out the Home, Garden, and Tools category, located here.

The Pickle Game

We’ve also picked up the German tradition of “hiding the pickle”. You purchase a pickle shaped ornament and hide it on the Christmas tree. You give the “go” and the kids search the Christmas tree for the ornament. Whoever finds it first wins a prize. The following year, the person who won gets to hide the ornament for everyone else to find.
