Bird Watching
People love birds, and bird watching is a favorite pastime of millions of people. You might not have been able to guess, but it’s the most popular of hobbies. The reason that it’s the most popular is that it can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age, gender, or financial situation. It’s truly a hobby that anyone can pick up quite easily.
If you’re interested in bird watching I suggest that you get yourself a pair of binoculars. They don’t have to be too expensive, you can get a fairly nice pair for around $60 (though they can go up to the thousands!), as pictured below. There are many different brands and magnifications of binoculars, and the experts suggest getting 7-power or 8-power binoculars—they’re a nice mix of magnification while still allowing you a wide enough view so your bird doesn’t go out of range too quickly. DealDash often has binoculars up for auction.
For identification, you can get a field guide for your local area. Another idea is to bring a small waterproof camera with you so you can document the bird and look it up online when you get back home. DealDash often has small waterproof digital cameras up for auction such as the Coleman one shown below.
