DealDash Pets: Curb Your Dog’s Aggressive Behavior

DealDash

You love your dog, but how is his behavior? Here is more information to curb dog aggression from DealDash.

Dogs are a man’s best friend, but they can also misbehave. Aggression in dogs is very common, and it can be hard to deal with. It can cause a dog to be harmful and out of control. There are some ways to get a handle on an aggressive dog.  It may seem difficult at first, but it is easier than you think.  Here are some ways to turn an aggressive dog into a calmer pet, from DealDash.

Right from Wrong

Teaching your dog right from wrong is the first step to take to stop aggression. When your dog is bad, you should give him a consequence such as putting him in his crate. Biting, gnawing, and barking loudly should be classified as bad behavior. When your dog is a good boy and behaving, it is good to reward him with a treat.  That will let him know that he is behaving well.  Learning right from wrong can take some time but, with patience, your dog will understand.

You have to Build Trust

Building trust is important when it comes to owning a dog. Dogs don’t know if you are going to hurt them or not. When you meet your dog for the first time, it is best to meet them at eye level and pet them gently. Make sure you stay calm because you don’t want to upset your dog.  Taking your dog for a walk can also build trust because they will feel safe knowing that you are there.

Every time you feed him it builds trust, every time you pet him it builds trust. Eventually, you will have a huge “trust” bank built up with your dog. Once the trust bank is full he will be more likely to behave for you. There are things that cause withdrawals from the trust bank such as yelling at him or swatting him with a newspaper. Please avoid doing these things with your pup.

Owning a dog can be difficult sometimes, but as much as they frustrate you, they still need love.  Building trust and teaching your dog right from wrong will make a difference in your dog’s behavior.  Just be patient with him because some dogs take longer to learn instructions more than others.  Repetition will make the process quicker, and your worries about your dog’s aggressive behavior will go away.
