DealDash Presents Great Places to Volunteer

DealDash

Volunteering can be a great experience for the young or old. Here are some great suggestions of where you can help, from DealDash.

Volunteering is one of the best things that you can do to help out other people. Many people volunteer for different reasons, but most people volunteer to lend a helping hand.  If you have some extra time on your hands, you should consider volunteering. There are many places that you can volunteer. It all depends on what you like to do. A lot of people don’t know about all of the wonderful volunteer opportunities that are available. Here are the 3 best places to volunteer, from DealDash.

Food Pantries

Food pantries are one of the best places to volunteer.  As you might imagine, food banks can always use some help when it comes to feeding the needy. You can hand out hot meals, do fundraising, cooking or even data entry. Whatever you choose to do you will be making a difference in solving the issue of hunger.  Almost every hometown has a food bank, so it is easy to get started with volunteering at a food pantry. There often food pantries in churches. If you attend church, why not ask if they have a food pantry that they need people to volunteer in?

Animal Shelter

Local animal shelters need a lot of volunteers. Every day people bring in their unwanted pets.  You could be answering phone calls, feeding the animals, answering emails, and doing some administrative work. It is best to connect with a local animal shelter in your hometown to volunteer.

The local animal shelter is a great place to volunteer as a family, as well. If you have kids who love animals, why not volunteer on a regular basis to come walk dogs? It’s fun, helpful, and good exercise as well.

Libraries

Volunteering at your local library can be a rewarding experience. Many libraries have reading programs for kids such as a summer reading program.  You can be putting books back on the shelves, assisting patrons, and running events. Ask your library if they need any volunteers. It will look good on your resume.

If you have a school-aged child, you could also volunteer to work in their school library. This is how I choose to volunteer. Every Friday I spend an hour at my children’s school volunteering in the school library.
