Are you back in college or have a child in college? Here are some of the top tips from DealDash for studying in a group.

Studying can be a boring task, but it is necessary for academic success.  In order to be successful, you must study your class materials. Studying does not have to be a daunting task. There are many ways to make prepping for a test or doing a project interesting. One way to make studying fun is to form a study group. Here are 3 tips for group studying, from DealDash.

Choose the Right People

In order to have a successful study group, you have to form a group of people that are determined and focused. You can’t just have just anyone in your group.  A study group should have between three to five members. It is important to study for one to three hours. Choosing the right people will help make studying much easier.

When you form the study group you should have an “end date” for the group such as the end of the semester. This way, if there is a person who isn’t meshing well with the group you won’t have to ask them to leave and have any hard feelings, you just won’t invite them back for the next semester.

Find a Good Meeting Place

It is important to find a good place to study. Studying somewhere noisy or where a lot of people are can be distracting.  When you choose quiet places to study such as a library or conference room you will have more success at studying for your finals or exams.  Remember to leave all distractions at home or put them away such as your phone, or social media. Many churches have meeting rooms available as well, even if you don’t attend the church. You can simply call the office and ask to reserve one of the rooms in advance.

Stay Focused and Organized

It is easy to get distracted and unorganized when you are studying in a group.  It is important to choose a group leader that will keep everyone focused and on track.  The person who came up with the study group idea should be the leader. If you are not up to the task of being the leader, be sure to invite someone to join who is willing and able to lead the study group.
