DealDash Kids: Tips for Studying at Home

DealDash

When kids are doing schoolwork at home concentration is very important. DealDash has some tips for concentration while studying at home.

Staying focused is a key part of being able to do schoolwork at home effectively. Taking some time to practice focusing can be a helpful exercise for the mind. It’s very important for a child to be able to concentrate if you want them to be successful when they study. Here are some suggestions from DealDash.

Tips for Concentration and Focus at Home

  • Set up a dedicated study area. The study area must be quiet and without distractions such as younger siblings, TV, or smartphones. This is especially important for an older child who has their own phone and has frequent notifications and texts.
  • Have a regular schedule. Having a regular schedule doesn’t mean that you have to keep “school hours”, though. Personally, I am enjoying not having to get up so early in the morning. We get up and have breakfast, then start schoolwork around 10AM. We take a short lunch break, and then do schoolwork until 2PM, followed by independent reading. Following this is an “elective” such as sewing, cooking, or art.
  • Make sure your child is getting between 8 and 9 hours of sleep each night. Your child’s concentration won’t be at it’s best if they are tired.
  • Take short breaks. I like to let the kids take a quick 5-minute break whenever they are starting to get a little antsy. A quick break can renew their concentration, especially if they use the time to grab a healthy snack such as a fruit cup or banana.

DealDash Helps Prepare Easter Baskets

DealDash

Easter is about a month away, and it’s the perfect time to get your kid’s Easter baskets ready. DealDash has some ideas.

Now is the perfect time to begin collecting things to go into Easter baskets. No matter who you are gifting an Easter basket – from kids to seniors, DealDash has some great things to include. Read on for some Easter basket tips.

Get Your Basket Recipient Something from DealDash

Firstly, you can stay in and shop on DealDash for Easter. Wouldn’t your child or other family members just love a soft and fuzzy bunny rabbit toy? Or how about a funny bunny lamp? You can see some of the bunny items that are currently up for bid at this link right here. You can also find some nice fresh items in the New Item category on DealDash. Just click this link here!

Not Big on Candy?

Next, I know not every person is into candy. Think of the person who you are gifting a basket, what are their hobbies? For instance, if the person loves to knit, simple, make a basket with some yarn, stitch markers, and maybe even a few patterns. For a child who doesn’t like (or isn’t allowed) candy, then you will want to load up their basket with surprise eggs, coloring books, crayons, card games, and any other fun surprises you think they will like. Just be sure to add some fun Easter grass and a bow!

Let Them Craft a Basket

Finally, another fun way to celebrate Easter is to let them make their own baskets! Find a white basket and some markers or paint pens and encourage the person to decorate their basket how they like it. Next, you can have them either write down some suggestions of things that they would like in their basket or even draw pictures if they prefer. Then it’s time for you to go shopping and fulfill their wish list. As a result, there are no worries about including things they don’t like or are allergic to. Also, it’s easier for you!

DealDash Can Help You Relax and Destress

DealDash

With the stressful times we are living in, it’s important to be able to find a way to relax and de-stress. Read this article for some ideas.

If you’ve been feeling stressed lately you will want to read this new article from DealDash with some tips and suggestions on how to de-stress. Take a few minutes for yourself to read this article and take a break.

Try to Eat Healthily Every Day

One of the best things that you can do to relax and melt the stress away is to eat healthily each and every day. There can be major temptations to stop by the drive-thru and get fast food when you’re stressed, but that won’t make you feel better in the long run. It could actually make you feel worse! However, be sure to make it a point to stock fresh and healthy foods in your fridge. These can be things like yogurt, meats such as chicken, salads, and hummus. This is good for both your body and can also improve your mood.

Get Active Outside

Try to make it a point to be active outside a bit each day. Be sure to aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity, preferably outside in the fresh air. If you can do more than that, wonderful! If you don’t have time for an actual workout, that’s not a problem. Simply take a short walk around the block in the evening, and bring the family with you. All of you will feel more relaxed after having a little exercise and fresh air.

Spend Quality Time With Family

Depending on what part of the country you are in your kids might have the next week off from school as a precautionary measure. My kids have the next two weeks (or more) off from school, and it’s the perfect time to spend quality time with family. This might be a stressful and scary time for all of us, but spending quality time with your family can make you feel more relaxed and less stressed. You might make some great memories with your family and end up even enjoying this impromptu break from school and work.

Take Time for Your Hobbies (Like DealDash)!

Finally, one of the very best ways to relax and de-stress is to take some time out of your day to do your favorite hobbies. DealDash: School Shut Down? Entertain the Kids

DealDash

All around the USA schools are temporarily closing to stop the spread of germs. DealDash has some ideas to help entertain your kids.

Many schools are closing as a precautionary measure against the spread of germs. For example, all schools in Massachusetts are temporarily closed until April 7th (at least). Having your kids home unexpectedly for 3 weeks can be a strain, on all of you. Follow these suggestions from DealDash and make your time go a little easier.

DealDash Has Legos for Boys and Girls

First, let’s talk about Legos. Almost everyone young and old, girls and boys, enjoy playing and building with Legos. When your whole family is home together for the next few weeks Legos can be something that the whole family can share and enjoy together. Also, there are different types and styles of Legos,  with both sets and loose pieces available on DealDash as well.

Do you have younger kids? Not a problem – there are Lego sets for younger children, as well. If your child is too young for regular Legos try the Duplo blocks. Also, DealDash has both Legos and Duplo blocks available for auction. As a result, you can get a new Lego set and watch the boredom melt away.

Use the Internet to Help Your Child Learn a Skill

Next, a great thing about being stuck indoors is that you can use that time to help your child learn a new skill. Also, no matter what skill they want to learn, from playing the piano to drawing to folding origami, there are free tutorials online. Just today my daughter watched two different ukelele tutorials online, and is well on her way to learning how to play “You Are My Sunshine”. Also, some people are visual learners and some prefer to read the directions themselves. Figure out which way your child prefers, and help them find tutorials online.

Give Them a Job

Finally, busy kids aren’t bored! Depending on the age and skill level of your kids you can assign them a few jobs to complete around the house. Personally, I like the “Chore Bucket” way to assign chores. The way to do a chore bucket is to write down the jobs you need to be done on slips of paper. You can also assign each chore either a monetary or point value. Each child can choose which chore they would like to complete out of the choices in the bucket.

After completing the chore that they picked they receive either the amount of money or the points that were written on the slip. The idea is that they can save up the points to use for something they would like to do or experience. For example, you could say that they could use 5 points to stay up an extra half hour at bedtime. For instance, I like to write everyone’s money and points that they have earned on our whiteboard and do a pay-out at the end of the week.

Thanks for Reading

I hope these suggestions will give you some ideas on how to keep your kids busy on their unexpected break from school. Try one of these tips or all of them at different times. Regardless of which one you choose your child will be entertained. However, these suggestions are just the beginning to entertaining your kids. Thanks so much for reading this DealDash article on keeping your kids busy.

DealDash’s Tips to Get Your Grill Ready for BBQing

BBQ weather is coming and I’m excited! If you need some tips on how to prepare your grill for the season, DealDash has you covered.

One of my favorite parts about warm weather is that it makes cooking so much easier. Sure, you can grill year-round, but I hate clearing the snow off of my deck so that I can start the grill. It’s important to make sure that you take care of the grill before you start cooking. Follow these suggestions from DealDash and get your grill ready in no time flat!

Stock Up on Grilling Essentials

Whether you have a charcoal grill or a gas grill, make sure you’re stocked up for the season. I typically use gas and there’s nothing worse than heating up the grill and coming out to find that nothing was heating because you didn’t have any gas.

Additionally, make sure that you’ve got all of your supplies in order. I like to keep a stock of aluminum foil and olive oil on hand. It makes things much easier to clean when you use aluminum foil.

Grates and Covers

I like to take all of the grates and covers out and do a deep soak. It would be smart to do this in the fall too, but I sometimes forget. So, I deep clean everything about a week before I’m ready to start grilling again. Typically, I just use soap and water. You’ll be amazed at how much grease those grates accumulate over one season of grilling.

Have Your Tools Handy and Ready to Go

It’s also important to have the right cooking tools. Be sure that you have a good spatula and tongs so that you can handle anything that you’re cooking. I’d also recommend a grill brush and a spray bottle filled with water. It seems a bit odd, but I typically spray the grill down while it’s still hot, then use the brush to clean everything off. I end by using the scarper portion. Be sure to clean the grill thoroughly: it’s possible to have a wire from the brush stick to the grate. It can then get in your food and cause all sorts of issues.

Get Grills and Supplies on DealDash

You needn’t go to the hardware store, spend lots of money, and then have to lug a new grill home yourself; DealDash has grills up for bid! It doesn’t matter if you prefer gas or charcoal – DealDash has them both! You will also find grilling toolsets and even packs of meat! Just click here to check them out.

Thanks for Reading

These are just a few of the things that you should do before grilling season kicks off.  By taking the time to do these suggestions beforehand you will enjoy your time in preparing food on your grill.
