DealDash Kids: Struggling With Schoolwork?

DealDash

Homeschooling is very challenging – especially if you weren’t prepared. Help your child if they’re struggling with these tips from DealDash.

Let’s face it, very few parents who are now homeschooling their children were prepared for it. In fact, many kids who are normally excellent students are now struggling with their assignments at home. Here are a few things that you can do as a parent to help make schoolwork go a little easier for your child, from DealDash.

Use Their Teacher’s Office Hours and Email

Firstly, you can talk to your child’s teacher, most teachers have set “office hours” when they can be contacted online. If your child’s teacher doesn’t have set office hours, be sure to email them. Let them know if your child is having difficulty with the schoolwork that has been assigned.

If your child is typically a good student but is struggling, it’s possible that the work just wasn’t explained properly. It can be very difficult to understand the directions if they are given during a conference call with the whole class. There are too many distractions. Email your child’s teacher, I’m sure they will be happy to help.

Spread Breaks Throughout the Day

Next, if your child has a lot of schoolwork to do during the day, be sure they are taking regular breaks. A good rule of thumb is 45 minutes of classwork, and then a 15-minute break, with a longer 30-minute break for lunch. Let your child do what they want for their breaks, but try to encourage going outside for some fresh air in your yard or having a healthy snack such as some cut up fruit, cheese, hummus, etc.

Set Up a Prize Box – Let DealDash Help!

Finally, set up a prize box with some prizes that you know your kids will love. For each day they do their schoolwork give them a “ticket”. When they receive 20 tickets they can get a prize! You might also give out tickets for extra credit such as reading a chapter of a book, playing a math game on the computer, or anything else you can think of to encourage their learning.

DealDash is the perfect place to get prizes to put in your homeschooling prize box. You will find Legos, stuffed animals, and other toys. The best part about getting items by winning or BInning them is that you don’t even have to leave your house! All items are delivered right to your house with free shipping. Click here to browse the toys – I’m sure you’ll find something your kids will love! Remember, DealDash is for adults age 18+, only. No underage bidders are permitted on the site.

DealDash: Fit Some Extra Fitness into Your Day

DealDash

Since we are all home now it’s a great time to fit a little extra fitness into your day! DealDash has some ideas to get you started.

Feeling stressed about the current situation is to be expected, and when many people are stressed they turn to food (usually carbs) for comfort. If you are doing a lot of comfort eating you should look for ways to add some extra fitness into your day.  Here are a few simple ways, from DealDash.

Get a Whole Body Workout

First, fitting extra fitness into your life is a great idea – especially if you try to maximize your time. Instead of standing in place while you are lifting hand weights, march in place. If you are able to go outside for a walk, strap some ankle weights onto your legs. This way you are working double the muscles at the same time! It’s a real time-saver.

Do Your Reps

Doing just one sit-up or push-up isn’t going to do a lot for your overall fitness (though it’s better than nothing!). This is why you need to do reps. When you are first starting out, you can do 5 reps of each exercise. As this gets easier and easier, you can raise it to 10, 15, and then 20. Go slowly, and increase your reps gradually over the next few weeks. If you’re not going to do the number of reps required to be successful you won’t see the results that you’re looking for.

Be Entertained, Fit in Fitness

Also, with all of the extra time that you are spending at home instead of commuting, hanging out with friends, or shopping, you are probably watching TV or movies at home. This might be a little boring for you, but it can be good for your fitness. It’s very easy to fit a little fitness into your day while you are watching TV. If you are watching live TV, you can put in a few reps of sit-ups or push-ups. On the other hand, if you are watching pre-recorded shows, you can do something easy like leg lifts while you watch your show. For added resistance, add ankle weights.

Fit Fitness in the Kitchen With DealDash

Finally, eating the right foods is very important when you want to get fit. Adding in more fruit, vegetables, and lean meats such as skinless chicken to your diet. Eating well will make you feel good about your choices, and is an easy way to boost your fitness.

DealDash: Quarantine Got You Cooking?

DealDash

Surprisingly, this time during quarantine is the first time that some people have cooked for themselves. DealDash is here to share some tips to the beginner cook.

I have heard from quite a few people online that this is one of the first times that they have really tried cooking something other than pasta or freezer meals. Many of these people are busy professionals that eat many meals at restaurants instead of cooking. Now that we are all home it’s the perfect time to learn how to cook. Read on for some suggestions for the beginner cook, from DealDash.

Read Cookbooks Online

Firstly, learn about different styles of cooking is a great place to start. Normally I would suggest either browsing your local bookstore or going to the library, but in these times, ebooks are best. Consider the styles of cooking that you want to learn about and find cookbooks that offer recipes that cover those styles. There are lots of great free cookbooks online, and many local libraries also offer an ebook lending program. Look for books with recipes that are easy to follow. This is so you do not get discouraged when you’re cooking.

Is Your Pantry Stocked? Try Grocery Delivery

You’ll also want to look in your cabinets and pantry to see what you have available. You’ll want to double-check to see if you have everything that you need noted in the recipes you want to cook. If you don’t have the needed ingredients, you will have to make a shopping list. Typically this is when you would take your list to the grocery store. This is still an option, of course, but in these times you might want to try grocery delivery instead. Most big chain supermarkets offer this service. There are also many different delivery services that offer a “no contact” grocery delivery to your porch.

Having Trouble? Video Chat a Friend or Family Member

Finally, if you find that you still need help in learning to cook the recipes you have chosen, you should ask for help. Gone are the times when you can invite a friend or family member over to help. However, you can easily video chat with anyone in the world! You can use FaceTime on your phone or tablet, or any number of programs on your computer. You can even use a “virtual assistant” that has a screen to chat with friends and family far away. Don’t be shy, video chat a friend and ask for help.

Need a Device to Video Chat? DealDash Has it!

As I learned the hard way when I started homeschooling last month – you have to have a halfway modern device to video chat! If you don’t have a recent device you might experience lagging during your chat, or you might not even be able to connect at all. Don’t worry – I have a solution for you. It’s DealDash! On DealDash you will find brand new devices that will let you video chat with ease. Simply check out the Electronics and Computers category today. Just click here.

DealDash Cleans With Vinegar

DealDash

Many cleaning supplies are out of stock due to the current circumstances. However, vinegar is a great cleaner. Read this article from DealDash and get the details.

Vinegar is an excellent cleaner, and the best part is that since it’s a food product it’s totally safe to use on kitchen surfaces. Stores might be out of most cleaning products right now, but just about every store that I have visited has large jugs of vinegar. Get the tips and tricks from this new DealDash article.

Cleaning the Kitchen

There are many surfaces in the kitchen that can be cleaned with vinegar. The best way to use vinegar to clean the kitchen is to use a 1:1 ratio with vinegar and water. You can even make a spray bottle with this solution and use it to clean your microwave, fridge, cutting board, and more! Simply spray and wipe, there’s no need to rinse after. You might not like the sour smell of the vinegar, but that will go away after the surface has dried. You can feel confidant that you are using a cleaner that’s safe for your family when you clean your kitchen with vinegar.

Cleaning the Bathroom

You can easily clean all of the dirty surfaces in your bathroom with vinegar. You can clean the toilet, tub, sink, and even the floor with vinegar! You can use the same 1:1 solution with water that you used in the kitchen, or you can even use a 100% vinegar solution if you need to remove tough stains and soap scum. If you need even stronger cleaning power, warm up the vinegar in the microwave for 2 minutes. Be careful when it comes out, it will be hot.

Other Items

There are lots of other ways that you can use vinegar to help you clean your home. However, be sure that you always check the cleaning instructions of each material and use the recommended products. Also, following the tips in this blog is always at your own risk, and be sure to do your own research.

For example, you can use your spray bottle of vinegar and water to clean your windows. Just give them a squirt with the 1:1 solution and then wipe with a paper towel, sheet of newspaper, or a lint-free cloth.

You can also use vinegar when you do your laundry. Simply replace half of the detergent that you typically use with a 1/2 cup of vinegar. You can also replace your fabric softener with vinegar! Simply add a cup of vinegar to the final rinse.

DealDash Health: The Quarantine Fifteen

DealDash

You might have heard of the “Quarantine Fifteen” – referring to how easy it is to pick up extra weight when you are home all the time. Read this article and get a few tips on staying fit at home.

If you are like many Americans, you are trying to avoid picking up extra weight while social distancing. You might be unsure of where to start, so here are some quick ways from DealDash to keep fit even while working from home next to the fridge.

Protein Is Key

Firstly, be sure that you are eating protein at each meal, including breakfast. You can have eggs, turkey sausage, or yogurt. All of these foods have a lot of protein that will keep you full until lunch with no need to snack. This is a fantastic way to stay fit even when you are working next to the tempting foods in your kitchen.

Drink Water All Day

Next, you need to drink water all day long. If you are working at your kitchen table you have no excuse to be dehydrated! Personally, I like my water extra cold, with lots of ice. Other people like to add a slice of lemon, some cucumber, or even some watermelon to it. If you really are not a fan of water, just do your best to take small sips throughout the day. If you can remember to take a sip every 15 minutes it will really add up by the end of the day.

Take Movement Breaks

Finally, when you are at the office you probably get up multiple times per day. When you’re at home you probably tend to stay in your seat. You need to get up each hour to take a quick 5-minute movement break. You can go outside and get the mail, walk up and down your stairs a few times, or even do a set of sit-ups and push-ups. If you typically take a 30-minute break for lunch, why not use 20 minutes to eat and take a 10-minute walk afterward?

DealDash Has Fitness Supplies

When you want to take your home fitness up a notch, you can get fitness supplies from DealDash. Depending on the type of work you do, you might be able to do some while using a stationary bike.
