It’s finally autumn, and around here that means that there are small county fairs popping up all over. Let’s take a trip to the fair with DealDash
Most people (especially the kiddies!) love the county fair. There are games to play, rides to enjoy, exhibits to explore, and delicious food to eat. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you prepare for your visit to the fair.
The first thing that you are going to want to remember is that many county fairs are cash only. Some of the larger fairs will take debit and credit cards for the entrance fee, but to be on the safe side you should probably bring enough cash to cover not only your entrance fee, but also enough for rides, food, and games.
Another thing that you should keep in mind is that autumn weather (at least where I live) can be unpredictable. It can be a toasty hot 75 and sunny in the afternoon, and dip down into the chilly 50s at night. You and your family would be wise to dress in layers. The cute shorts and t-shirt combo that’s perfect for the fair during the day to go to the petting zoo will be uncomfortable in the chilly night air when you’re riding the ferris wheel.
Speaking of the petting zoo, there are usually a lack of bathrooms and hand washing sinks at the fair. Sometimes there are only port-a-potties, yuck! Be sure to bring either hand sanitizer, baby wipes, or better yet – bring both! Trust me, after petting the goats and sheep you’re going to want to get those hands clean before you eat some of those tasty fair treats.
Lastly, let’s talk about those treats. Even though they are delicious, try not to eat too many of them. Not only are they mostly fried, and full of oil and fats, but they tend to be expensive as well. A better solution for this dilemma might be to get a few things and share them with your family. After you’re done at the fair you can stop on the way home and get something else a little healthier to eat if you’re still hungry.
