DealDash Entertains Kids in Summer
Summer vacation has been here for a week, and my kids are already bored. Here are some ideas from DealDash to entertain the kids for the summer.
I have three kids, two of them old enough to be bored with summer vacation already. My kid’s summer camp is only 3 hours long, what can we do to fill the rest of the day? Here are some tips and ideas from DealDash to keep kids occupied during the summer.
Put Them to Work
When you say “put them to work” that sounds like a recipe for scowls and whining, right? Not if you give them fun work. I have a nice container garden this year with multiple types of tomatoes and tons of strawberry plants – along with some fruit trees that I planted this year. The kids love to go out and water the trees and the garden for me. I fill up a big bucket and let them water the plants however they want – the watering can, little scoops, or even water guns! If you go this route, be sure that you go behind them and re-water any plants that didn’t get enough water.
If you don’t have a garden try and think of some other “fun” jobs for your kids. Washing the car, sorting their toys, or even just digging a hole in the yard can be a lot of fun for kids. The best thing about these types of activities is they are almost totally free!
Head to the Duck Pond
Save up your bread crusts and heels of bread until you have a bag full and head down to the duck pond. Kids love to feed the ducks, and the ducks appreciate the extra snack. While you’re there you can take a little time out for a wildlife lesson, you should be able to find turtles, frogs, and tons of bugs at your local pond. Try taking pictures of the creatures and see if you can find out what type they are when you get home. If you make trips to the duck pond a regular occurrence your kids will gain a deeper appreciation of nature and look forward to your trips.
Swimming Lessons
Summer swimming lessons are not only fun but extremely important for water safety. You can find reasonably priced summer swimming lessons at your local YMCA or Boys & Girls Club. They have different levels of lessons by age and ability. Your kids will enjoy swimming lessons, and you will be able to rest a little bit easier knowing that your kids have this lifesaving skill.
