Are you getting the most out of your sleep? Learn how to sleep more efficiently, from DealDash.

Are you really getting the most out of your 8 hours of sleep each night? It might sound a little intimidating at first, sleeping better is not that difficult for most people. It’s simply a series of small steps that you can take to improve your day-to-day life. Read on for more information from DealDash.

Make it a Routine

Routines are what most brains love, so start one of your own to help you wind down. Moisturize, have a light snack, or read; the important thing is that you should always be going to be at the same time and waking up at the same time.

Yes, unfortunately even on the weekend. Though it can be very tempting to “catch up” on sleep at the weekend, it’s actually doing more harm than good. waking at 7 AM on weekdays then waking at 10 AM on weekends isn’t doing you any favors. It’s fine to have an hour’s discrepancy, but ideally, your alarm should be the same for all days. Falling asleep at the same time every day will not only help you get up and going, but it’ll help you fall asleep quicker.

If You Really Aren’t Tired…

Similarly, if you don’t think you will sleep within half an hour of lights off (that is to say, you’re simply not tired) then don’t bother getting into bed. Being mentally active in your bed does your brain no favors to understand that it’s time to sleep. However, reading for a while is encouraged. Please use a real book or magazine, not an e-book. The light from your device can help keep you awake. Definitely, avoid Netflix marathons and falling asleep to your phone. Speaking of that, no screens half an hour before trying to sleep. It would be even better to put them in another room so you’re not tempted by notifications.

The Little Things Add Up

There are also things you can do during the day to help you sleep. Don’t eat a huge meal late at night; if you’re hungry have a light snack such as cereal or fruit. In fact, following a good diet as a whole and exercising every day helps. When I say exercise, it doesn’t have to be anything too strenuous. It can be as little as walking briskly around the neighborhood after dinner.
