DealDash

There have been many winter storms lately. DealDash is here to tell you 3 tips to prepare for a winter storm.

Every year most of us go through different seasons. The weather is always changing. That is why it is good to prepare for any weather, especially snow storms. Depending on where you live, winter storms can be an inconvenience for you. People dread the winter time depending on where you live, but some people enjoy cold weather. Regardless of how you feel about winter storms, you still have to prepare for a winter storm. Yes, even if you live in the south! Read on for more information from DealDash.

Stock Up on Necessary Supplies

It is important to have all of the necessary supplies that you need for a winter storm. You will need winter storm supplies such as batteries in case of a power outage, a shovel to remove the snow, and non-perishable food and water.  When you are prepared with these items it can make going through a winter storm easier.

Personally, since I have a large family, I keep a big stock of pretty much everything on hand in the pantry. Things that keep for quite a while like cereal, soup, crackers, pasta and sauce, bottled water, granola bars, and fruit cups are always fully stocked in my pantry. When there is a winter storm coming and other people run to the grocery store, I know to stay away from the store! No matter how long the storm is, even if the storm and clean-up last a week (which it never does!) I know that my family has plenty of food.

Plan Ahead of Time

Planning ahead of time for a winter storm can protect your house from damage. Simple things such as repairing your roof leaks, cutting away branches that can fall on your house and allow faucets to drip will help keep your home safe.

Planning ahead of time includes getting out all of your snow supplies and have them ready. Have your shovel, gas for your snowblower, salt or sand, and cold weather clothing. Having these things ready can really help when a winter storm is coming.

Stay Warm

The best thing you can do for a winter storm is to stay warm. Invest in a generator if the power goes out. Make sure that you dress in layers. It is also important to stay near your loved ones so you can create body heat. The closer you are the warmer you will stay. Keeping your head warm is important. You can wear a hood or use a scarf or hat to cover your head. Don’t forget the socks and fuzzy slippers! Stay cozy.
