If the sprouts grow big enough that you feel the need to move them, you can use any type of pot. I’m a fan of terracotta (clay) pots. That 6-8 week time period should be based on when you expect the last frost of the winter. This gives your plants time to germinate and start to develop roots. Having those roots will make them grow much faster when you plant them.
Join a Local Gardening Group
One of the best things that you can do is find a local gardening group. It used to be difficult to find a group at the local store. In today’s age of technology, you can simply find a Facebook group or a subreddit (forum/group) on Reddit. The people in these groups are typically surprisingly knowledgeable and willing to share advice based on their experience. I’ve always found the experience of others to be incredibly beneficial.
Find a Planting Calendar for Your Area
Finally, you should consider searching for a planting calendar. Many people have never heard of a planting calendar, but it’s exactly what you think it would be. It’s a simple tool that can help you figure out exactly when to plant (and transplant) your vegetables. Some calendars can also offer some tips and tricks that will help with the entire process.
