Forming Habits – Good and Bad, from DealDash
Life would be easy if good habits were easy to form. Unfortunately, it’s a little bit harder than that. Let DealDash help.
Do you have more good habits or bad habits? Most people would probably say that they have more bad habits. Why is this? Probably because when you think of a “good” habit it’s just known as your “way of life” rather than a habit, such as eating healthy or exercising. Here are some helpful tips and pointers fro DealDash to gain good habits and drop bad ones.
Don’t Skip Days
The most important part of forming good habits is sticking with them. Therefore, if you are trying to form good habits, then you need to do them as much as possible. If you’re trying to form a good habit of exercising, then you don’t want to do a day here and a day there. To fully form a habit you need to continuously exercise daily until your habit has formed, which takes at least a couple of months. It’s okay to skip a day if you’re feeling sick, of course, but you start with skipping two or three days, and next thing you know, you’ve stopped completely.
Think Positively
If you’re trying to stop a bad habit or start a good habit, then you need to think positively. The power of positive thinking has been shown to improve lives and help you along in your journey of self-improvement. If you’re trying to start a good habit, then you need to think about it when you wake up in the morning, as you go throughout your day, and before you sleep at night. Forming a habit can be a little tricky, but you can do it, I believe in you! See that positive thinking? It works!
Plan for Success, Prepare for Failure
When trying to form or stop a habit, you need to plan ahead. If you’re trying to stop a bad habit, you can write yourself out a timeline to follow to help. For example, if you want to stop smoking, you can write yourself out a timeline to reduce the amount you smoke daily until you have completely given it up.
Unfortunately, not all things go as planned. You need to prepare for a few fails along the way. Make yourself a backup plan in case things don’t work out. Think of a different way to go about things, and you’ll be happy with the results.
