DealDash: Get Through Airport Security Quickly

DealDash

Getting through airport security can be a pain. Here are some tips from DealDash to make it through more quickly.

Airport security is important, as we all know. However, when it’s time for you to get through airport security quickly you probably wish that they would be a little less thorough. After all, you know that you aren’t carrying anything dangerous, but they have to check everyone’s bags equally, so it’s in your best interest to co-operate. Here are some tips and hints from DealDash on how to make your trip through airport security go quicker and easier.

Carry-Ons, Bring Only the Bare Essentials

If you’re traveling and plan on bringing a carry-on in addition to your checked luggage, then do yourself a favor and pack it lightly. Just put the bare essentials in your carry-on and the rest of your items in your checked bag.  The reason that this will work in your favor is that if there are fewer things to look through in your carry-on, then the more quickly you will be able to get through the security line. If your carry-on luggage has everything from your toiletries, phone chargers, snacks, iPod, iPad, and more, then it’s going to take a while to get through security. Streamlining what is in your carry-on will save you some time.

Don’t Carry-On Prohibited Items

This seems like silly advice, but don’t bring prohibited items in your carry-on. Obviously, you wouldn’t bring a knife or a gun in your carry-on. However, don’t accidentally bring your scissors or soccer cleats, either. I was on vacation last week, and there was a big hold-up in the security line. The problem? A person had brought their fold-up ski poles in their carry-on. Yes, the person most-likely just wanted to use them for skiing. However, they had very sharp metal points on the bottom that could have been used as a weapon. The person had to go back and check the poles to their destination, and believe me, that took some extra time.

To save yourself the hassle of this happening to you, be sure that you are familiar with what is dis-allowed on flights, such as lighters, golf clubs, and electronic cigarettes.
