All dogs need grooming occasionally. Here are some helpful tips from DealDash to keep your pup looking great. Read on for handy tips and information.

Just like a beautiful and glossy head of hair implies good health for us human beings, a glossy coat of fur on a pet dog means your pet is in good health. In fact, a good lustrous shiny coat of fur is one of the strongest signs that your pooch is enjoying great dog health. Correct dog grooming is necessary for promoting good doggie health and wellbeing. Depending on the type of dog that you have, this might involve only a few minutes per week or per day in some cases. No matter what type of dog you have, DealDash can help you with dog grooming information.

Shiny Coat = Healthy Pup

If it’s your mission to have your canine sporting a healthy coat of fur, you ought to groom him every day. However, weekly will do if he has short fur, or thrice weekly if your canine is the type that has long or thick fur.

Bathing a canine can be a tiresome and wet experience. You often end up wet along with your pet dog when bathing him, however, it can be quite fun when you get the hang of it. You can opt to give him his bath in your kitchen area sink if your pet is small. However, if your pet dog is bigger, you would need to use your tub or even a kiddie pool outside in nicer weather.

Bathing Your Dog for Maximum Cleanliness

When you bathe your pet dog, use a hose or a removable shower head and wet him completely to the skAfterwardards, use doggie shampoo and soap him up. Begin with his chest to the top of his head, down his back and tail. Finally, his legs and feet. Don’t forget in-between the toes! Take care not to get any of that shampoo in his ears or eyes.

Of course, pet shampoo should be used for your pet rather than your own hair shampoo. Pet dog shampoo is specifically created for dog grooming, created to suit the sensitivity of the skin and fur of canines. However, if you need to bathe him right away and can’t get to the store, then baby shampoo will work. If you don’t have baby shampoo on hand, then Dawn dish detergent can be used as a last resort. Be sure to use this very sparingly, just 1/4 of a teaspoon or so for a small tub, and 1/2 a teaspoon for a full bathtub.

Wash and rinse your pet completely after shampooing his fur. Make sure that there are no remaining soap suds on your dog’s skin, or else the soap might cause a rash or inflammation. He might also wind up licking at the remaining soap on his skin, which is very bad for his tummy. When you think you have rinsed out all of the shampoo, give him one more rinse to be sure. It only takes a moment of your time, and it might save you from cleaning up a much bigger mess later on due to an upset tummy.

After Doggie Spa Time

If your canine is the type that has long or thick fur, you might consider drying his fur out with a hair dryer. He might not enjoy this experience, so you might only want to do this in winter, or if he is the type of pup to get cold easily.

Brushing your pet dog’s fur will eliminate the snags and tangles in it if your dog has long hair. If your pup has long hair, then you will want to brush him daily or weekly to prevent the mats from forming. Brushing is a must, however, after a bath.

It’s Okay to Admit Defeat

There is no shame in admitting that you can’t bathe your dog yourself. It can be hard to perform dog grooming on your own, so if you prefer, just get his grooming done at a pet grooming salon.

Excellent Food Helps with Shiny Fur

Bear in mind that a shiny coat is not just for looks, it’s also a strong indication of a good canine health. You should not skimp on the cost of canine food. For good health, it’s important that you do not cut corners on quality canine food. Or, you can prepare your own canine food to feed your pooch. This is really not needed, though, there are many excellent pet foods readily available at the pet store. Just ask your vet for a recommendation!
